Snow Day ☕ ❄️
The schoolhouse and the area immediately surrounding it were blanketed in brilliant, sparkling white. Snow had frosted the bougainvilleas and bowed the fronds of the palm trees. It gathered in drifts against buildings and turned the main street into a snowy hillside. Esme could see her breath in the chilled air as she gave a startled laugh of pure amazement. "Snow days are pretty rare in these parts," Bruno said, grinning cheekily, "but they happen from time to time."

First of all @teawizard, thank you for your patience because Tumblr just straight up hid your reblogs from me for some reason?? I only discovered your tags by accident just now. (It's not even letting me tag you in this post, so hopefully you'll still see this? 😬)
Anyway, thank you for your lovely comments!! To answer your question, I worked on this one off and on for about a month, Procreate says 26 hours total:
It's definitely the longest I've ever spent on something, but I took a lot of time finding reference, working on the sketch (I'm still new to figuring out backgrounds), and trying to get as close as I could to the Disney Encanto Storybook style. I spent a LOT of time studying the illustrations from those books to see how they do line work, textures, shading, etc.
(I love the storybook style so much. It was fun and I'm really pleased with how it came out.)
Hope that helps!
