On youtube there’s OSP (overly sarcastic productions), they do a lot of fun animated videos about lots of stuff, including talking about a lotta greek mythology!

They also do more like there’s history and there’s literature (I really like their trope talks personally), and they also talk about myths and folklore that’s not specifically Greek, they have a lot. But their videos are simple, fun, and give a lot of information in a really nice, clear format, I’d suggest checking them out!

theoi.com is good if you have a specific god or two you wanna read about. Osp is great for stories and they have a few deep dives into specific gods (the hades and persephone deep dive is my favorite)

wirt from otgw really is one of the best written teenage characters ever i think. like. he's 15-16-ish and wants people to take him seriously SO badly, but he also struggles to take responsibility for most things. he's dripping with anxiety. he overcomplicates everything in his mind but sometimes he has lapses of impulse. he can be surprisingly blunt when he's angry. he can't help but hate his little half-brother (and stepdad) out of spite and it takes both of them nearly dying for him to start working through those feelings. he's really creative but he keeps his interests in poetry and the clarinet a secret because he thinks it's fucking embarrassing. he reads real estate magazines and knows a lot about architecture and interior design, which is such a random little detail but i love it. he's self-conscious and lowkey suicidial and always assumes the worst in other people's view of him, but BASICALLY EVERYONE BACK HOME LIKES HIM, including the girl he has a massive crush on, and he just can't see it because he never makes an effort to reach out. every minor stepback feels like the end of the world to him. he has no idea who he is or what he wants.

In short, it's all about framing. You need to suggest that someone else is making you ask them about whatever it is you want to bring up. Let me share an example:

Do NOT say: "I think I have Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome."

Instead, say: "My best friend wanted me to ask you about something. I don't even think it's a thing, but she thinks I might have something called EDS. Ehlers- Danlos syndrome, I think? I don't know. It's probably rare. But have you heard of it? Do you think I might have it?"

Here's another example:

Do NOT say: "I think I have ADHD."

Instead, say: "So my wife said I had to ask you about something. I don't know if she's right, but if I don't bring it up with you, she'll be really mad at me. She thinks I might have something called attention deficit disorder. And she said you might be able to help."

To pain specialists: "My brother thinks I have rheumatoid arthritis and he wanted me to ask you about it."

To psychiatrists: "My aunt said I should ask you about anxiety medications."

This will not only help in getting them to take your symptoms seriously, it will also work on convincing them to order specific tests, offer specific medications, and consider a specific diagnosis.

This approach shifts the focus onto a third party, which helps doctors lower their defenses. If they think medical suggestions from patients are inane, you're just feigning agreement with them. It effectively puts you on the same side as the doctor - the two of you against your loved one. Which is fine, because your loved one isn't relying on them for medical care, so they can take the heat. And when the doctor feels like they're on your side, they're more likely to want to help.

This approach also means that the doctor knows you are likely to tell a third party what transpired during the appointment, which means they'll be held to a higher level of accountability. That alone will often have a big impact on how they treat you.

those posts are talking about how effective the language and approach you take in your activism can be. this is literally cult deprogramming 101. if someone is being taken in by a violent or dangerous group, that violent or dangerous group is usually offering them compassion and solace while working hard to convince them everyone else in the world is their enemy. you are under no obligation to coddle or act compassionate toward these men and their violent ideologies, but if you have the means to try, it is something that you can do to make a tangible difference.

radicalized people are often only one loving friend or family member or external voice away from being de-radicalized. of course that is not always the case, but it very often is. a lot of y'all rightfully understand that you do not carry the burden of being that voice, but a lot of y'all also have a lot of internalized ideas about morals and punitive justice and have simply written off these people as deserving of only the worst and not worth saving.
