Did you like the loser that kept losing reference
“Found a large envelope of photos down the side of some shelves last week that I thought were gone. Last seen 14 years ago trying to compile some photos.
1. First trip to New York 1996. Super Furry Animals pictured on top of the World Trade Center (south tower). Pic by either Andy Saunders or Dick Green taken on a panoramic disposable camera I was carrying around.
2. Second trip to NYC July 1998 for an SFA/Gorky’s co headline at the Knitting Factory booked by @/glennmax, Euros Childs @/national_elf and Dafydd Ieuan pose for fun on a nearby Limo at JFK or Newark just after landing. Dewi Emlyn from Ffa Coffi Pawb tour managing. Taken on a different panoramic disposable film camera.
3. SFA started doing month or six week long tours in the US then about twice a year - here 4/5ths SFA at the Motown studio Detroit (1999 I think). Me, @/gutopryce, #daf, @/cianciaran pictured #Bunf maybe took the shot on my camera or was at the venue or something

First the Ffa Coffi Pawb rereleases, now old never before seen SFA pictures from the 90s, Gruff’s been personally treating me this month you’d think!

How do I explain this: I, physically and violently, cannot get over the song Northern Lites.
There is not one time I have listened to this song where I have thought 'eh, it's alright'. It's always fantastic. It's always delightful. Brilliant. Vivid. Euphoric. Shattering. I just. Stand there and squeeze every bit of appreciation I physically can out of my body for this song. There's no other way to explain this and it does sound weird as hell. I really appreciate this song.
FYI (for your indulgence)
Lindsey Leven & Guto Pryce
Gulp, formed by Super Furry Animals’ Guto Pryce and Lindsey Leven are back with their new album ‘All Good Wishes’. Gulp are on a journey, a state of perpetual transition. The band make mini Kraut-pop epics, informed equally by the sun flares of the Californian desert and the drizzle of pure, sweet Scottish rain and northern light. ‘All Good Wishes’ half-inches its title from a vintage Scottish postcard and it’s emblematic of the changes the pair have undergone. It’s partly a farewell to Wales, and hello to Scotland. The record was largely built in South Wales, a three-year process that saw the band retreat to their basement for endless sonic incisions and revisions. A broader, wider, perhaps bolder experience than their debut, ‘All Good Wishes’ is rooted in fantastic pop songwriting, in creating three minute vignettes that express complex ideas in a simple, accessible and endlessly fascinating way… We talk to Guto about restraint, fatherhood and long drives…
Apparently the first ever Super Furry Animals video, for the song Pam V (Pam Fi?/Why Me? stylised) taken from their Moog Droog EP from 1995. I wonder if they revisited this style on Guerilla, because this song is kinda "reminding" me of Check It Out from Guerilla (2000). Classic pop songwriting, distinct Cian wee-woo alien keys towards the end. Look at them though, they're babies!

I love that the Super Furry Animals have a personal agenda against saxophones.
They’ve described it in interviews as “the instrument of the devil”, and yet it made an appearance for the first time on Ysbeidiau Heulog, the summer pop song on Mwng. They made sure to mention it—20 years later!—during Tim’s Twitter Listening Party though!
Dumbasses. I love them.
I also found this picture from a photoshoot for what looks like Gruff’s Set Fire To The Stars recordings? I dunno, it could just as easily be off Hotel Shampoo, he does like his suits and he dresses sharp. Anyway, here’s Gruff with a saxophone. Possibly 15-ish years after, still standing by sax suspicion. Look at the distrust in those eyes.
Important addition!!
Need I make myself clearer
Pour one out for #guto pryce.
