Isn’t this picture mad. Isn’t it mad I got this. What. James Smith of Yard Act swinging his mic into the crowd’s face for some extra noise | Where’s My Utopia tour, 2024
James Smith of Leeds post punk band Yard Act
Shoutout to Yard Act for being the only band to still be using the Under Construction gif for their new Trench Coat Museum thing that they’ve been teasing. I think it might be a new song, but by god they put in the Effort!
Some icons from Yard Act’s Trench Coat Museum website
Most links lead to Yard Act’s soundcloud that has 30 second snippets of instrumental music with titles about trench coats, except one with vocals that’s just James singing, “I’m reclaiming the trench coat” (by goodness has he, in the past few years!)
Can’t wait to see what they’re up to!
10/12/22.
Libertino Records (Wales) have been putting out great music for several years. At the beginning, there were no physical releases, but that is changing. First, just last month we mentioned the great Ynys LP. Before that, we mentioned Alex Dingley.
Now we have Sister Wives. The band definitely recall the work of Look Blue, Go Purple, Francisca Griffin or older posts like Would-Be-Goods, Susan or Seablite.
Ohhh guys! The he-said-she-said Damon Albarn-Taylor Swift music battle has completely gone into the background now because there's a more important one going on right now!
Post punk up at number 1? Yes please! Yard Act's debut album could finish the week at number 1 in the official albums charts in the UK! Note: not the indie charts, the vinyl charts, the physical charts. The all-country albums chart, the big one!
They're only 400 album sales behind Olly Alexander/Years & Years, but the charts count everything till end-of-Thursday at midnight (UK time), we could have a post punk indie debut album entering at #1, which would be a massive piece of ammo to throw anytime someone goes moaning about how there's 'no good new music any more'.
I'm excited.
Leeds grunge band L'Objectif announce debut EP
Leeds band L'Objectif have announced their debut EP drops soon! I love me a band that sings situations (as opposed to feelings, just cuz it's different!)
They had a great self-produced debut single, Drive-In Mind, taking the concept of drive-in theatres, but instead of films, it reels your thoughts. Can't wait for the EP! They've released another single in the meanwhile, Do It Again
