Just thought about the trope/archetype "Yamato Nadeshiko", assuming you are familiar with this trope/archetype, do you think the Adventure universe has at least one female character that falls under this?
Oi, can you give me your thoughts on the affection that Sorato would show to each other?
This ask actually inspired me to write meta for the first time in a while! Thanks a lot, Anon!
So, a while back I read this book called The Five Love Languages. It’s about how everyone expresses/experiences love in five main ways — words of affirmation, quality time, acts of service, receiving gifts, and physical touch — and how this affects interpersonal relationships, especially marriage.
The book’s thesis is that everyone has a primary and secondary "love language”; for each of them there are multiple “dialects”, or different ways of manifesting love. In order to have a healthy relationship, you need to identify your and your partner’s language, so that you can give each other what you need (*).
Me being me, I immediately started to try and identify the love languages of each DA character, and predictably gave a lot of thought to Sora and Yamato’s. Based on my notes on this book, here are my headcanons about how Sora and Yamato express affection!
That thing about "Digimon series that shares elements with Adventure but is T rated" was a question. I just wanted to know what do you think that would be put in a work like that, though it might be hard for you to answer, especially since you don't really watch anime and therefore aren't familiar with, say, the Isekai genre.
Well yeah, that’s why I responded to the first ask with “sorry, I don’t have an answer”.
I don’t know why you’ve sent me another two asks about the same topic. With this one — where you’ explaining to me why I can’t answer based on oddly specific personal information I’ve shared in the past — things are getting a little bit weird.
OK, so about thinking of a possible Digimon series that shares some elements with Adventure (including the another world theme) but is dark enough to merit a T rating (just like Cyber Sleuth)?
Again, I’m sorry, but I don’t understand what you’re asking here... is this a question or a request?
Would you like come up with a concept for a series you’d like to see? I’m not a fiction writer, and asking someone out of the blue to write something like this, based on such a vague promise is a bit too much :/
You clearly have some ideas about this topic. I think it would be a lot more interesting if you developed them and shared them with the rest of the world!
I hope this doesn’t come across as harsh, but I genuinely don’t know what gave you the impression this is something I’d normally do / would be capable of doing / am even interested in?
Hello! Was it ever explained why the 02 kids would pop up in the Digital world with specific outfits? I guess it’s something to do with the method of how they would go there or having D3’s, as opposed to the 01 kids outfits being unchanged
Based on my last rewatch (which was already A WHILE ago), I’m pretty sure the reason for the change is explained textually in one of the episodes as the clothes being a “manifestation of their wishes”, just like the Digimon Kaiser outfit was.
IIRC this also doesn’t affect Takeru and Hikari in the same way. Their digital world clothes are usually (though not always) the same clothes they wear on their daily life, before they even got their D3. There’s one episode when Hikari and Taichi go to the Digital World to see Qilongmon and she’s seen wearing her winter outfit.
Sadly ATM I can’t seem to find a proper stream / screen grabs to double check my previous answers, so the only way to be sure is to check the episodes yourself.
02 is one of the series that would benefit the most from a proper Plot Masterpost, because SO MANY of the “unresolved mysteries” or “unexplained things” are actually addressed briefly but reasonably in one or two lines of dialogue. But because we don’t have a proper database of what happens in each episode, it’s difficult to locate these explanations whenever we need it.
(OFC, the meta reason for this is because 02 takes place from April to December, spanning several seasons of the year and diverse clothes changes for the main characters. Having their clothes magically change as they travel to the DW is a clever just a way of saving time in repetitive sequences like “traveling to the DW” and evolution scenes. In Adventure they didn’t have that problem because the poor kids wore the same outfit for the entire series.)
I'm really sorry for bringing this up, but how stupid do you think it is regreting ever liking a fictional work?
People change their minds all the time about things, and people themselves change overtime. I’d say its a pretty common experience to “regret” liking something.
Have you seen this?

What do you think?
I haven't been keeping up with the show, so I don’t think I wanna comment a review for an episode I haven’t watched yet.
Though I have to say that skimming through it, the premise of the article (”Sora and Yamato should have switched crests in the original series”) strikes me as a deep misunderstanding of both the crests and the characters in 99!Adventure.
I was just curious about the following: have you seen any fan of Digimon and/or Sailor Moon compare Adventure 2020 to SM Crystal in any way? I haven't (though it should be noted that I prefer to avoid certain types of internet comments) and recently began wondering if there's anybody who does compare the two, even though I personally see no reason to compare the two.
I have never seen such a thing, but admittedly I haven’t been around the fandom much lately.
Did we ever get a specific date for when Kizuna takes place (outside of the fact that the year it takes place in is 2010)?
Based on the information on screen, it takes place around 20th July:
Hello! Had seen somewhere what seems to be concept art of the chosen children and noticed that there was no Joe, while Kou had similar glasses as him. Am wondering if the Koushiro of then had some of Joe’s traits and how do you reckon a combination of the their personalities would be?
I remember that concept art! I think it was probably just a variation of the cliché “Genius / Intelligent characters wear glasses”, which they eventually dropped. Don’t forget that the Crest of Knowledge IS a pair of glasses!
Based on recent interviews about the development of Adventure, the original plan was to have 5 or 7 protagonists, so I wouldn’t be surprised if Koushirou came first, and then they developed Jou as they expanded the cast.
A combination of Koushirou and Jou’s personalities...? I wonder where that could lead us...
JK. Obviously, Iori is far more than that. To begin with, he has a much stronger personality and is far more confident and assertive than both Koushirou and Jou.
Koushirou with Jou traits: He would be more of a star student (oddly enough, we rarely get any impression of how Koushirou does in school). Possibly more strict about rules. Less intuitive about his knowledge (focusing more on books and learning than on intuition or coming up with new theories). More emotionally volatile (Jou often panics and freaks out in the face of problems, and even lashes out sometimes. By contrast, being “emotionally cool” comes more naturally to Koushirou, which is why he’s great at dealing with stressful situations and is extremely level-headed and polite.) In short, essentially the same Koushirou, but stricter, more stressed, and worst at hiding his emotions. OK, so it’s basically Hermione.
Jou with Koushirou traits: He would be far more brainiac and curious (normally, Jou seems to be more interested in studying for grades than for the sake of knowledge itself). He would also be able to see “outside the box” more than normal Jou. Paradoxically, he’d he far more in control of his emotions and more strict. This Jou would probably also worry less about fitting in society and pleasing others, and would be more about seeking truth and focusing on his personal interests. In short, an even more serious Jou with a killer intellect. So... maybe a bit like Sherlock, or Mr Spock?
Hi may you make a Digimon fanfiction that takes place in the year 1988?
Er… I don’t write fanfiction?
Digimon Adventure Music: The Series
This week we found out about Digimon Adventure tri.’s theme song and insert song: new versions of “Butter-Fly” and “brave heart”. This continues to show how music is a very important part of the Digimon franchise. I reckon my little idea of writing a little about the Digimon soundtrack is more relevant than ever.
The Digimon soundtrack is excellent and adds a lot to the the series, and I wish all Digimon fans could enjoy it and (re)discover it. At the same time, because the official Discography is so vast, it’s hard to know “where to start”. Many people aren’t familiar with original soundtrack because they grew up with versions where it was replaced by different songs; but even those who grew up with this music or have watched the original version might need some guidance, since the soundtracks were never officially released outside Japan and many of the Digimon official songs do not appear on the series at all.
So these posts intend to work a sort of “Introduction” to Digimon Music. The idea is help people “navigate” the vastness of Digimon musical universe. So I’m going to prepare a few lists of what I consider to be the most important songs, the best albums, the best image themes, and so on (a “DiGiMONMUSIC BEST OF”, if you like). Since this is a Digimon Adventure blog, I will only consider music from the first two series (& tri.) — but the other series’ music is absolutely worth checking out, too.
Some cool resources:
Magic’s DiGiMONMUSIC Database — The most comprehensive site about the Digimon discography. It lists every single and album ever released across all seasons and it includes transliterated track lists, songwriting credits, and cover images.
Amazon.jp and CD Japan — Places where you can buy the music. Sadly, none of the CD’s have been officially released outside Japan. (The video links provided on posts are meant to be used as “samples”, under fair use. Please support the artists.)
Anime Lyrics — The most complete list of Digimon lyrics. Here you can find the lyrics to almost every song, as well as English translations. Luckily, almost every song has been translated over the years.
The Lists (more to come!)
- Digimon Adventure Music ~20 Essential Songs~
- Digimon Adventure Music ~Best Albums~
- Digimon Adventure Music ~Best Minor Songs~
- Digimon Adventure Music ~Best Image Themes~

I was reminiscing about DiGiMONMUSiC and suddenly remembered this thingy I wrote OVER FIVE YEARS AGO and never got around to finish...
Once again, thanks for earlier. Your response made me think of something else I want to ask you. In 02, is Chimairamon a more powerful than average Perfect level? Magnamon still needed additional power to beat him. Also, Chimairamon was originally an Ultimate level in some video games, but when 02 came along and added him his level was changed to Perfect. It makes me wonder if despite the level change, Chimairamon still retained the power of an Ultimate level.
I don’t know a lot about power levels, and it’s been a few years since I’ve watched these episodes, but I would say…
— Chimairamon was made a Perfect because it was the final Boss of the first half of the series. That is to say, the Chosen Children were still “only” at Armor/Adult level, so their enemy would have to be one level above that. He couldn’t be an Ultimate in 02 because that would make him too strong for that stage of the story.
— Chimairamon could be stronger than average due to the forces of Darkness or whatever. Still a Perfect, though.
— Magnamon was an Armor level (=Adult) that became more powerful due to a miracle (=Perfect) in order to defeat this enemy. Since Magnamon was the result of an Adventure Miracle (TM), it’s believable that he was a particularly strong Perfect. Wasn’t he also super-effective against Darkness, similar to Angemon? (I don’t remember.) Still a Perfect, though.
In the Adventure universe, it’s established that within the same level, you can have widely different power levels and that digimon become stronger as they “battle” more. A good example of this is Angemon/HolyAngemon (stronger than the average Adult/Perfect against Dark types), or WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon being wiped the first time they meet the Dark Masters
In short, even if Chimairamon is stronger than average, he’s still a Perfect level. Chimairamon could not be an Ultimate.
Any sibling sign hc’s? It’s tempting to have Osamu as a Capricorn, but I feel like his Cap traits may be due mostly to outside pressures. I hc Osamu’s ideal self as a teacher who’s content to help others achieve greatness rather than accomplish it himself, but his biggest obstacle (aside from the external pressure to surpass everyone else) is the lack of control over his emotions, particularly anger and (as I hc) anxiety. What signs would these be? What are your hc’s, for him and other sibs?
I’d never thought about this much, so my first impressions might be:
- Osamu Ichijouji - Capricorn is definitely my initial choice based on what we see of him in canon, bonus because it makes him opposite of Ken (in my personal HCs)
- Jun Motomiya - Gemini or Leo
- Shin Kido - Taurus? (he just seems like a chiller version of Jou)
- Shuu Kido - Aquarius (being the rebel in the family and all)
- Mantarou, Momoe and Chizuru Inoue - sadly we don’t know enough about their individual personalities for me to try and type them.
According to a rumor I heard at one point during the development of 02, Daisuke Miyako and Iori were going to get an additional armor evolution for each of their Digimon by making them evolve with both of the digimentals they had at once. It was dropped but the evolution V-mon would have received was far enough in the design process and was later implemented into the franchise. V-mon's evolution would have been Sagittarimon who looks like a combination of Fladramon and Lightdramon. Is this true?
I haven’t found any valid source for this information, so I’m going to just call it a fan rumour. Moreover, there doesn’t seem to be any digimon that would be the equivalent of Love+Purity (Hawkmon) or Knowledge+Honesty (Armadimon).
It’s probably just a coincidence or — depending on when Sagittarimon was created — a very early idea / design that ended up been turned into something else.
Officially, this digimon was always associated with the Digimental of Hope. And I don’t think any “double Digimental evolution” was considered a possibility by the time the first half of 02 was planned.
It is an interesting theory, though. What if Daisuke’s third Armor evolution had been Sagittarimon instead of Magnamon?
But.I can see why they didn’t do it. In 02, the Armor evolutions are directly connected to character development. Since Daisuke, Miyako and Iori had already proved they were worthy of their two respective Digimental/Crests, an evolution about “activating them both at the same time” would likely have felt redundant, thematically.
More armor evolutions would have been cool, but I do think it would have been difficult to justify, in-story, how the kids would have activated someone else’s Digimental.
In my opinion, the true pity is that we never got to see alternative Joggress evolutions — now that had storytelling potential...
02 had the most interesting evolution dynamics by far!
ok but did u just make up an average age rule to justify your idiotic astrology headcanons? there's crazy and then there's c r a z y
Yeah, this was funny at first, but now it’s just sad.
I’m answering this, not to give anon the attention she so desperately craves, but really to use this as an example of how fandom can negatively affect a person’s mental health to the point when they become harmful to others.
This is a sad example that getting too deep into fandom can not only make people get genuinely angry over things like a fictional characters’ fictional birthday, but can even lead them to bully, harass, and insult others under the cowardice of anonymity — therefore turning fandom into a toxic environment for the person who receives hate and for everyone else as well.
I’ve seen so many people lately drift away from the Digimon fandom, and some who’ve told me they are scared to post their own HCs because they fear being bullied or insulted over their opinions. It’s not difficult to understand why, when there’s people like this going around.
I just want to say to anyone who is reading me and has experienced this kind of attitude before, that I love you and I’m here for you.
Adventure-Hearts will always try to be a welcoming space for all kinds of opinions and try to promote kindness and respect within the Digimon fandom.
My DMs and askbox are and will continue to be open, for anyone who wants to have a chat.
you're terrible with logic and astrology. please stop. i'm embarrassed for you.
Embarrassment must be a common feeling when you’re the kind of person who sends personal attacks to people over a cartoon.¯
No wonder you hide behind anon ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
