i was gonna do seabirds like in my post for the fellowship but i couldn’t think of enough seabirds so we have some regular birds in here too! also, apparently this is what i do now. i analyze and compare birds to fictional characters. and yes, i did write this in between finals today so i apologize if there are any errors, i just needed to cheer myself up.
Thorin is an eagle. it’s obvious. do i really need to explain? the majesticness, the skill... eagles are protective, fierce, they return to the same nests year after year, so they love their home. and they mate for life, which speaks to Thorin’s loyalty.
Bilbo is an american kestrel. they look pretty, and timid, but they can do serious damage if they want to. they usually return to the same nest every year, which fits with bilbo’s strong love of home. again- these are loyal birds, so lol out.
Fili is a golden eagle. because of the coloring, but also because of the way they’re seen. golden eagles tend to be seen as less cool than bald eagles, which i think fits with the whole fili/thorin/kili situation. but guys. golden eagles are cool. under appreciated, still majestic, and freaking awesome, fili is all those things.
Kili is a peregrine falcon. Smaller and more agile than the eagles, and also the fastest animal on the planet, which fits with the archer ✨aesthetic ✨. A very territorial bird, they hunt kinda like an archer or a sniper would, sighting from far away and then quickly diving down to get the prey, which i again feel works with the bow and arrow.
Thranduil is a crane. Like- the posing, the way they strut... it’s just obvious. they also can live a pretty long time (like 80 yrs in captivity i think) which is very elven. the species in this photo has the red patch on the head, which works both with thranduil’s crown and his general fashion sense.
Bard is a heron. kinda similar to a crane, still majestic, but different. They also hunt like archers, standing silently and patiently before swooping in/striking at their prey. They are determined animals, and very protective of their young, which works for him and his kids.
Nori is a crow. This is kinda obvious, due to the whole crafty and liking of shiny things. However, they are also fiercely loyal to their families, like he is to Dori and Ori. Crows also use tools which I think fits with Nori and his various trinkets, and the thing he uses to try and find where the keyhole to Erebor is.
Part 2 with more characters is coming soon! And here is the fellowship as seabirds if anyone wants to check that out.
what is there to do while having insomnia rather than taking screenshots of the behind the scenes videos? nothing, I say
also some of these are kinda rare to see in pic format, I feel? I wanted to get them out there again, since they’re so good for reference purposes

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (2012)
So I’ve been throwing up all night and day, to the point ever water makes me sick and I just wanted to feel some warmth, how would the company react to a sick modern-reader?
A/N: Since I was stuck on every other WIP I had (joy) I opened this request again in search of something else to write. I felt like the company reacting to a sick reader has been done so many times, so I didn't really know how to write this while still being original. I figured I'd do it headcanon style, because people seem to love it when I do that. Besides... laughter is the best medicine right? Although I haven’t made that many jokes in this one, I’ve been a good girl :)
Requested: well yes, there is an ask at the top of this post isn't there...? @that-teen2003 this one's for you
Warnings: mentions of being sick, throwing up (non descriptive), awkward dwarves, everyone brings out their inner Dori at some point, green (both the word and the colour)
How the Company Reacts to a Sick Modern Reader
- it's not like you were doing it on purpose, getting sick
- even though most of the Company thought you were at first
- the Dwarves weren't hostile towards you but they weren't exactly friendly as well
- you couldn't blame them since you kind of ambushed them, appearing out of nowhere
- popping into Middle Earth straight from The Modern World™
- you gave each and every one of them a heart attack
- a lot of high pitched shrieks were heard when you fell into their midst
- none of them wanting to admit you startled them
- insisting it was you who had screamed like a little girl, not them
- extra deep and low voices and rumbles for a few days after
- even if they agreed to take you with them,
planning on leaving you at the first human settlement they passed, it didn't mean they were happy about it - you weren't exactly a useful addition to the Company
- no battle experience
- no fighting skills
- hardly any strength compared to theirs
- no beard
- no equipment or weapons, not even a blanket or an extra pack of clothes on you
- you were wearing sandals for Durin's sake, having to stop constantly to get little rocks, pebbles or twigs out of them
- questioning but mostly disapproving looks about your choice of wardrobe
- which was a shirt with shorts, and the sandals
- tHe sANDALS
- "I was enjoying my day at the beach, it's not like I planned on ending up here!"
- but Dwarves are Dwarves, their hearts still in the right place
- some might be a little off center but they're trying
- everyone giving a few spare items so you were a little more protected against the elements
- Nori giving you items you knew couldn’t be his
- Ori starting to knit thick woolen socks to keep your toes from freezing in the mountains and a scarf to match
- but it wasn’t only the elements you were struggling with
- it was also the food, or the lack thereof
- surviving on meager portions of stew every single day while hiking non stop took a toll on your body
- really bad
- as if you weren’t a burden enough
- not your words
- you heard the mumbling and complaints about you slowing them down
- so you decided to be helpful and look for edible plants to get some extra vitamins in, trying to recall your biology lessons on how to recognize poisonous plants and flowers
- you were over the moon when you found some kind of plant that looked pretty similar to green cabbage
- the Dwarves were a lot less enthusiastic when you showed up with your arms full of the greens, refusing every bit you tried to offer them
- “I don’t like green food”
- “If it’s green it’s not meant to be eaten”
- “Please tell me there’s meat on the menu as well”
- cheering when Fíli and Kíli showed up with their hunted prey
smug little bastards- too stubborn for your own good you refused the meat and munched on your green cabbage leaves instead
- it tasted horrible
- your stomach seemed to agree on that because the next day you were sick
- we're talking stomach aches, fever chills, nausea, cramps
- “ye look a bit green there”
- cue boisterous laughing
- encouraging back slaps from the dwarves trying to get you to move faster than your snail pace
- most of them just found it hilarious you weren't feeling your best at first
- “Told ya te keep to what Bombur made us, but ya wouldn’t listen”
- but then you got worse and couldn't go any further
- your legs felt like jelly and all you wanted to do was curl up on your borrowed bed roll and suffer in silence
- some of them started to take pity on you and could convince Thorin to set up camp early
- Oin gave you something to help your stomach and told you to go to sleep
- but instead of helping, whatever he gave you made you violently sick
- strong dwarven medicine isn’t meant for humans after all
- you emptied your stomach in the nearest bushes, scaring most of the wildlife away and perhaps a few Dwarves too
- they finally realized this was serious
- the rough dwarven warriors turning into 🌈Care Bears🌈 almost instantly
- they took shifts sitting by your side
- each Dwarf trying to make you feel better in their own way
- Thorin’s way of helping was stopping earlier that day to give you the chance to rest, he loudly declared that this was all he would and could give you
- the extra blanket on top of you was his, he claimed not to know how it got there
- his eyes constantly went to the side of camp where you were resting
to check how you wereto keep an eye out for orcs or other scum - Kíli and Fíli sat by your side together, one as calm as could be while the other constantly urged his brother to get Oín, because you shivered or you hadn’t moved for about a minute
- “Kíli, they’re sleeping, of course they’re not moving”
- Bofur took up his shift when a bout of high fever kept you awake, telling you stories about Ered Luin that were so fantastic and magical that you doubt they were true (they weren’t)
- Dori of course had an absolute field day taking care of you, bossing everyone around (meaning mostly Ori poor lad), fussing over you every chance he got
- Bifur gave you a miniature sculpture he had whittled while you were out the first few hours, the detail on it was astonishing
- you loved it so much you kept it in your hand the entire time
- Gloín gave you something similar to rusk, to try and nibble on it when you started to feel better, it helped his wife back when she was pregnant with his wee little son
- “They’re not pregnant Gloín!!”
- Balin told you stories during his watch, just like Bofur did, only he told you about Erebor and its marvelous architecture
- you were fascinated at first, finally learning about the location the Dwarves were heading to - they’ve been rather secretive about it after all - but when he started on the history and kept reciting dates, you felt yourself dozing away
- the next morning you felt a lot better
- it probably just had been a simple food poisoning
- (you should’ve known better than to eat random plants but curse your stubborn nature)
- that night when Bombur made yet another stew, you kept your mouth shut and silently ate your portion
- the dwarves fell back into their normal habit of teasing you maybe a little too easy
- “Hmm, you know what this stew misses Bom?”
- you stared at Bofur, who was grinning at you like a Cheshire cat - even though he didn’t know what that was, you realized - and you knew what he was going to say
- don’t say it
- don’t you dare say it
- “Greens”

Everything dwarves: @clumsy-wonderland
This is absolutely hilarious! 😄 Imagining Thorin's and Dwalin's high pitched shrieks was enough for me to giggle out loud in the morning train. 😂 Of course it didn't end there so people were looking at me like I've lost my marbles, again! 😄
My commute was way too short to read all of it but hey, I got to treat myself after tiring day at work and laugh all over again, yay!! 💃👍
Advent calendar idea: braid week in erebor. You braid each other's hair and kiss under the mistletoe. Here's the twist. In our culture its just a kiss. In dwarven culture its instant marriage. With thorin please. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁
Hi @lilith15000 and @elliepie1226 💚💖💙
This little ficlet is for you. I hope it'll get you into the winter holiday mood :)
Day 6: Mistletoe
Fandom: The Hobbit Relationships: Thorin x non-Dwarf!Reader Rating: G Warnings: post-BOTFA, Everyone (and I mean EVERYONE) Lives AU, kissing under mistletoe, fluff
I must have read this three times already today with a huge love filled grin on my face, sighing, oohing, aahing and plainly melting with happiness and love! 🥰🥰🥰
How do they act when they get jealous? (Hobbit edition)
Thorin - He gets jealous easily, but never acts on it, he knows you’d never do anything intentionally, and that you are very likable by all. The only person he’ll ever bite to, it Thranduil, who does it purposefully to rile him up, always making you step between them. Balin - The two of you have been together too long to bother with jealousy anymore. Anything that could remotely come up like thay is shrugged off with jest. Dwalin - You think it’s adorable when Dwalin gets jealous, his face turning red as he towers over whoever it is, arms folded and a steely glint in his eye. You know he’d only do something if they tried to touch you, which they never did, but it was always good to know he was there if you needed him. Fili - Similar to Thorin, Fili knows not to act on it, and tries not to let it affect him. He does, however, always seek your comfort when it happens, always in private, and it never fails to make you laugh. Kili - The most vocal of the three Durin’s, Kili hasn’t learnt to have that resolve yet, so there have been a few threats and a few fights, no matter how many times you tell Kili it’s not going to happen. Bofur - His reaction is to burst into song, much to your embarressment, the songs always something about you and who you are to him. It can make for some awkward situations. Bombur - The only time Bombur had gotten jealous, was when you brought a puppy home and started spending more time with it than him. Once you began to introduce the two more though, it quickly changed. Bifur - You weren’t sure Bifur understood jealously anymore, his words always seeming a little wild and threatening, so you always just shrugged them off. Oin - Oin has a bad habit of muttering recipes for ointments under his breath and to the untrained ear, can sound positively terrifying, conversations being cut short. Gloin - While Gloin did get jealous, he usually had to spend more time holdong Gimli back from anyone that seemed to take interest in you. It amused him, but he knew he’d have to have a talk with the young lad eventually. Dori - He’d invite them around for tea, the first time he’d done it, you didn’t overly understand, that was until you realised that he was essentially putting your happy lives on display, while subtly tellling the other to back off. Nori - You had to be extra careful with Nori when it came to jealousy. More than once he’d followed someone home and then stolen everything he could carry. He would take it back at your insistance, but only after a couple of days had passed. Ori - He would go red, bright red, but apart from that, he’d have no other reaction, simply stare. That is until you giggle, and he seems to let out a rush of air, assuring him that it’s only him. Bilbo - Usually, Bilbo goes very quiet, mostly because he has to hold his tongue and try not to say something inappropriate, which he has more than a few times, usually making you laugh as the other person tries to work out whether they should take offense to it or not. Bard - He doesn’t let it affect him, often just laughing it off. He knows the two of you aren’t about to separated by anything like that. Lot’s of jokes get made, especially about how lucky is and it never fails to make you laugh. Thranduil - It’s not overly wise to make Thranduil jealous, even accidentally, and yet, even as Queen, it still sometimes happened. The poor person that would make that mistake, would not only face your displeasure, but the King’s wrath too. Legolas - This is a situation where Legolas tales after Thranduil, whether it be through silent glares and through often harsh and witty lines. You didn’t overly like it, but you knew he only meant well.
Beorn - He growls, like literally growls, and you have to be quick to analyse the situation on how bad it is and whether or not you have to drag Beorn away or not. The two of you have argued over it, especially seeing as he has nothing to worry about, but it’s never stopped it from happening.

Drew these in my college sketchbook awile ago. I think I shall share them now, cos… Why the heck not.
I used non-water resistant fine liners to create the wash effect, then went in with biro and water resistant fine liners to finish off.

Also, hi, lovely. How are you.
(Hey, love! I’m not too bad, thank you. Feeling a lot better than I was. Hope you’re doing well)
Thorin: A woman who knows her value and has a strong sense of who she is. Someone strong in heart and spirit. Kind. Loving. Loyal.
Bilbo: An adventurer. Someone who can easily put aside what they’re doing and disappear on an adventure with him. Fellow smoker. Good cook.
Fili: Someone with a quirky sense of humour. A lover of pranks. Down to earth. Good natured. Kind.
Kili: A woman of vibrance. Strong-minded. Can hold their drink. Someone with plenty of energy to keep him on his toes.
Dwalin: Compassionate. Understanding. A woman who just wants to be held after a long, hard day. A woman of simple tastes.
Balin: A woman with a keen eye for detail. Artistic. Not afraid of commitment. Loyal. Strong in heart and mind.
Oin: A woman with a cheeky side. Good sense of humour. Fellow drinker. Musical. Maker of clothes.
Gloin: Kind. Nurturing. But not someone to be messed with. Has a strong voice and will.
Bifur: A quieter woman. Introvert. Someone a little alternative; maybe has an unusual hobby.
Bofur: A naughty little lady who is adventurous. Someone with a quick wit and sharp tongue.
Bombur: A good cook. Someone who loves hugs and lazy mornings in bed. Generous, compassionate, good kisser.
Nori: A woman who has no time for bullshit. She’s the one who is constantly telling him off when he's stealing something. Tries to put him on the straight and narrow.
Dori: Lover of tea. A woman who enjoys watching the sunset and sunrise with him. Someone who loves to just brush his cheeks and give him little kisses.
Ori: A girl who can dance. A fellow lover of books. An extrovert. She helps him out of his shell a little. Accepting. Non-judgemental.
Seems I'd be best with either Thorin or Balin. 😊
