“Why did you…save me?” Lance asks.
Keith lifts a hand and fiddles with a talisman of bone, feathers and bright copper discs that hangs from a cord about his neck. He drops his gaze downward and gives Lance a sideways glance. “Why did you?”
“I…don’t know.” That’s a lie, but he hasn’t the words to explain why he wandered off the beaten path that day; the fateful pull that drew him to the darkest part of the forest to tend a lycan delinquent’s wounds.
