Hey, thanks for your interest!

Querencia is most definitely being continued. In fact, I have already started the next chapter (hint: it’s Nari whump)! I’ve been busy with pieces for a gift exchange the last couple of months, though, so it’s been put on the back burner, but as soon as that is over this month it’s one of a few I want to get back to working on. Besides The Shadow of Death, Querencia gets updated the next most often.

As far as In Irons, I unfortunately can’t give any promises, but I do hope to add more to it someday. I even have a vague idea of what the rest of the plot will look like, but I rarely get inspiration to actually write it. Kamaria, Lili, and Siren are my current favorite blorbos so they get the majority of my attention. I do know that there are several people who want more of In Irons, though, so I’m going to do my best to keep going…at some point!

Thanks for the rec! I’m always on the lookout for more lady whump writers. From what I’ve seen so far some of their stuff is a little too spicy for me to read or reblog, personally, but it also looks like there’s a variety so I’m still going to see if there’s anything on there for me. Also, I know there are plenty of people in my followers who like that kind of thing, so hopefully they will see this and check it out, too! I’ll go ahead and tag @whumpawoman and @lady-whump-collection so maybe it will reach more people.

Ah! Coming in right off the bat with the ULTIMATE question…who, of the two most stubborn people to ever walk the face of the earth, is the most stubborn??

Honestly…I’m not sure I can tell you. They are both the epitome of stubbornness, especially when it comes to self-sacrificing and protecting the other but really about anything and everything. I…want to say maybe Kamaria edges Bruno out, because I think he’s more likely to give in and give her what she wants (even if that’s letting her believe that she is the better fighter and can kick his butt).

I’d love to hear @painful-pooch ‘s thoughts on the matter, though ☺️

1. One aspect of their diet or food

The Vaya grow all of their own fruits and vegetables, and hunt for meat. Each family tends their own garden, growing a few certain items, then everything is shared among the whole village.

7. Cultural wear or items

Women usually wear ankle-length skirts and dresses. All Vaya wear natural colors, especially browns and greens, though healers tend to wear white. Everything is very soft and comfortable.

8. Traditions or ceremonies

When Vaya reach the age of 20, they are officially accepted into the role they’ve been training for - healers, warriors, hunters, etc. They receive the symbol of their role on their foreheads in a special, fireside ceremony.

7. hair-ties or scrunchies?

Hair-ties, though I call them hair bands! Scrunchies were the in thing when I was a kid and I had tons of them then, but I haven’t gotten back into it now that the trend has returned lol

44. you get a free pass to kill anyone, who is it?

Unfortunately (at least unfortunate for this ask game) I am pretty anti-murder so I don’t really have anyone to say :)

15. rank the methods of death: freezing, burning, drowning

Mari going straight for the most intense question on the list haha! Um well I don’t really write death for my characters most of the time, but if I was going to I think I’d go best to worst freezing, drowning, burning. If we’re talking irl it would prob be similar, I know drowning is supposed to be one of the worst, but fire freaks me out a little bit so yeah.

3. a specific color that gives you the ick?

Olive green. Coincidentally my husband’s favorite color lol

5. favorite form of potato?

Mmmm…mashed. Or whipped, or whatever you want to call them. I love all potatoes but those are my fav

20. Tell us the meta about your writing that you really want to ramble to people about (symbolism you’ve included, character or relationship development that you love, hidden references, callbacks or clues for future scenes?)

Oooh. This is one of those questions that when it’s asked, your mind goes completely blank on anything you’ve ever written. Lol

Ummm…okay I’m sure there’s more interesting things I could say but this is what I can think of right now. Someone reading Meli’s story recently noticed a little Easter egg that I often include in my writing, and it made me happy because I’ve wondered before if anyone noticed. Basically, how the POV character refers to anyone, including themselves, in the narration is important. What name they use shows how they see that person or themselves.

For instance, Meli always refers to Lea as Axel because she can’t get past him being the villain that went by that name, even though he’s different now.

In Obsession, the use of Cady vs Cadence shows where her head is. Cady is a new person with friends and her own life, Cadence belongs to Oliver.

I’ve never introduced this character on Tumblr, but in discord rps I have a character who was given a name by her captors, but I never use a name at all when writing her because she hasn’t gotten used to having one yet.

So…yeah. That’s it. ☺️ Just a little something that I find fun to include whenever I can.

I’m gonna answer for Liliana.

1. What is your ocs most irrational fear? Is there a specific reason this fear came about?

Well, for most people, being afraid that everyone hates you/is out to get you would be an irrational fear. For Liliana, she has a pretty good reason to feel that way. She spent a year hiding what she could do, knowing that so many people hated it, and was proven right when her parents found out and she’s ended up locked away. Even now that she’s out and the world is changing its perspective, she’s gonna take a long time to be convinced that anyone who knows about her powers is gonna try to hurt her.

2. Is your oc picky about food? What kinds of foods do they like and dislike? What do they consider a comfort or “safe” food?

She’s not really picky, no. Not anymore, at least, after having to eat whatever she was given at the facility. We’ve established in canon that she enjoys bacon! She also loves anything chocolate. Comfort foods used to be Guatemalan dishes that her mother would make. Now, if served something similar, she’d be torn between feeling comforted and breaking down.

3. What does your oc’s voice sound like? (Or if you have one, what’s their voice claim?) Can they sing, whistle, or roll their r’s? Do they have any speech impediments or notable dialects/accents?

I don’t have a voice claim for any of my characters, but I’d say that Liliana’s voice is a little high, very soft-spoken. She’s a decent singer but never really does so in front of other people. She can whistle. She is Guatemalan raised in the US, so she speaks Spanish just as well as English, which means yes, she can roll her r’s! And she doesn’t have a noticeable accent or dialect when she’s speaking English, but when she switches to Spanish or says a Spanish name in the middle of an English conversation, her perfect Spanish accent kicks in.

How does your oc handle sadness? How does your oc handle anger?

Liliana handles all of her emotions pretty much the exact same way - tucks them down deep inside her and never ever talks about them to anyone. Ever.

Unless she happens to stuff her emotion bottle a little too full…then we could get an explosion like back in Whumptober. That’s the only time she’s ever exploded in anger like that, though. She’s more likely to just get extremely overwhelmed and burst into tears and cry until she’s exhausted - all of which she will try her best to hide from everyone else.

And no that last part is not based off of me at all, of course not

🤳 Selfie time! What’s your character’s selfie game like? 

Haha well, if Adelaide lived in modern times and had a camera… I can’t imagine she’d take very many selfies. She doesn’t have a lot of self confidence, and she kinda hates her freckles. But she does like the way her eyes and hair look sometimes, and she’d probably have days where she’d feel like she looked nice and would take a selfie. Probably post it with some kind of self-deprecating or downplaying comment.

🍔 What’s your character’s favorite food?

Had to do some quick research on colonial food 😉 I’m gonna say she enjoys venison, pepper cake, and ice cream.

😴 How does your character sleep?

Back at home, she would often lie awake for long periods of time after Charles fell asleep. Now that she’s on the ship, it depends on the night. Sometimes she sleeps very well if she’s exhausted from a hard day’s work. Sometimes she’s in pain from punishment and hardly sleeps at all. Sometimes she sleeps fitfully, worrying about who else is in the room with her and what they might do.

😂 YES it absolutely counts and you absolutely should do that. He deserves a lot worse than that, but I can just imagine how angry he’d be at somebody getting the best of him and making him so helpless.

Adelaide would love a fancy sword. It might not technically work any better than her current plain sword, but it would give her an edge of confidence that would help her fight better.

Hurt or help my characters!

1. What is one word to shut them up?

So I’ve been thinking about this ask off and on all morning, and it kinda had me stumped for a while. I was just about to answer with - nothing. Words are Jacob’s thing, if you talk he’ll talk more, if you throw insults at him he’s just gonna throw them right back.

Then I realized I was looking at this the wrong way. It’s not an insult that will shut him up, it’s a compliment. So not necessarily one word, but a few, if he perceives that you’re genuinely complimenting him on something - even if he knows it’s true - he just won’t know what to say in return.

So sorry that this took so long, I kept forgetting it was here!

5. Character you were most surprised to end up writing

I guess that would be Cadence and Oliver, their whole story. I wasn’t looking to start yet another series, and when I first got the idea I wasn’t planning on writing it. But it wouldn’t leave me alone!

25. Copy/paste a few sentences or a short paragraph that you’re particularly proud of

A smooth, warm pair of hands slide over her eyes from behind.

“Guess who.”

The voice is too soft to recognize. Her heart is in her throat and she’s not sure she’ll have a voice but she puts on the smile again and says, “Dev?”

Hoping.

Praying.

The owner of the hands chuckles, and she stops breathing.

7. When asked, are you embarrassed or enthusiastic to tell people that you write?

I don’t usually get asked! But if I was…I’d love to tell people that I write, but am always a little afraid of them asking too far into it. The good news is, I have a couple of series that I can easily explain without getting into the whumpy parts.

20. Do you write in long sit-down sessions or in little spurts?

Mostly little spurts. Sometimes in the afternoons when my kids are having are having rest time I can sit down for a longer session, and occasionally I’ll write more at night, but I often write a couple of sentences on my phone here and there whenever I can grab a minute.

22. Are there any subjects that make you uncomfortable to write?

I don’t do smut, or even implied smut. Probably not anything super gory, either.

9. What, if anything, do you do for inspiration?

Daydream a lot. Read other people’s work. Scroll through Tumblr and drool over all the whump prompts. Sometimes fic ideas come to me in actual dreams, too!

18. Were there any works you read that affected you so much that it influenced your writing style? What were they?

I can’t think of any specific work that influenced my style, though it definitely has changed since I started reading fiction online a few years ago. So I’d say it’s more like an accumulation of different people’s works.

There is, however, one book that probably helped influence me toward writing whump way before I knew it was a genre (though I’d liked it since I was a kid). That is Mara, Daughter of the Nile, which is my all time favorite book that I’ve read at least 7 times. Highly recommend. It’s only really whumpy at the very end, but it’s about spies and is so so good.

Mm…kinda wanted it to be from something I haven’t published yet, so here, have a paragraph from my KH WIP that I rather enjoy.

Apparently Jacob and Ellery are the easiest because that’s exactly what happened to them! They both live alone and are pretty predictable in their schedules.

Shadow would be the hardest. You know, assassin and all. Though Liliana for most of her teen years was never out and about anywhere where she could be taken, and now she always has company, so she’d be difficult, as well.
