I Have a Whump Blog Now. Whump Blogs are Cool.

This bit of the hero/villain verse takes place in between the other two I've written this month - after Leave Me Alone and before Interrogation (both of which you can find on the masterlist!)

Bruno aka The Brute belongs to Izzy, who wrote most of his dialogue for this piece and helped come up with the idea for it.

“What do you think you’re doing?”

Kamaria whirls around, heart lodging itself in her throat as soon as she hears Roderick’s voice. Swallowing past it, she gestures lamely toward the end of the alley where she’d been heading. “Going back to headquarters?”

He takes a couple of slow steps forward, eyes narrowed behind his mask. “Correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t believe you finished your mission.” 

She grits her teeth. This was bound to happen, she just thought she’d have until she got back to prepare herself for it. He’s never met her outside of headquarters like this before. “I couldn’t. Got stopped by The Brute.”

This is the Brumaria College AU, more chapters of which can be found on the masterlist. It’s a little glimpse into Kamaria’s first relationship, pre-Bruno. Kane belongs to Izzy and is used with permission! I used the whole prompt song as inspiration for this one.

No. 19: “I’m in love with the way you hate me.”

He’s nice, at first. Buys Kamaria coffee at the cafe on campus. Recommends the best professors, and tells her which ones to stay away from. Helps her set up her schedule for the semester. Walks her back to her dorm at night. 

He treats her like…a person. Maybe not an equal, because there’s always that underlying thread of superiority, of implications that she’s stupid and weak. But she is weak, and she is stupid, sometimes, so she never protests. Her father treats her the same way, without any of the nice parts, and all the foster parents and social workers did, too, so it’s refreshing just to have someone see her and go out of their way to help her out without it being their job. 

More of the Brumaria Hero/Villain AU! This one takes place much later than the first. Bruno is only mentioned, but he belongs to Izzy!

No. 18: Blindfold | Tortured For Information | “Hit them harder.”

The steel rod cracks against her ribs.

“What is The Brute’s real name?”

“I don’t know.” A lie.

Again, on the other side. 

“Where does he live?”

“I don’t know.” A lie, and screw him for taking her there and making this even harder for her. 

Another hit, this time to her stomach. 

“Who else does he work with?”

“I…don’t…I don’t know.” Also a lie. This one’s her fault, though, for stalking him and his team to find out who was hurting him. 

“Oh, I think you do know. I think you know all kinds of things about the heroes, and The Brute, especially, that you’re not telling.” 

He hits her ribs again.
