You can call me Jada! Wife, mother of 2, cosplayer, occasional artist, original whump writer, fan of many tv shows and movies. Find me on Ao3 under the same username.
This part of the College AU takes place before the events of the rest of the pieces I've written for it, and is the first hospital incident referred to in "Comfort". It's one of the longest of my Whumptober fics!
Keep in mind that the Kamaria in this universe, while still tough and still having gone through a lot of abuse in her life, isn't hardened by war and torture like canon Kamaria.

She screams his name again and again, but there’s no response.
“Bruno…Bruno no…please, Bruno!”
They wouldn’t stop hitting him, and kicking him, over and over and over, until he finally fell completely still. He hasn’t moved since. She can’t tell if he’s breathing or not, only knows that there’s blood streaking his face and his arm is misshapen and he won’t wake up.
Even when the frat house basement is miraculously flooded with police officers and paramedics, it’s all she can think, all her mind will repeat.
“What did they do to him?” Pidge’s horrified whisper echoes the thoughts of everyone in the infirmary.
“Well, not feed him, that’s for sure!”
It takes a second, but eventually Coran realizes that the entire team is gaping at him. His brow furrows. “Sorry. Let me just...finish my scan.”
While the scan runs, Shiro cards his hand through Keith’s tangled, filthy hair. The boy hasn’t stirred since being picked up from that heinous cell, eyes closed and chest just barely rising and falling with each faint breath. Shiro feels like he can barely breathe, too.
When Coran clears his throat, studying the tablet screen, it’s clear that the mood of the room - or perhaps the results of the scan - has sobered him. “I’m seeing multiple breaks and fractures here...multiple lacerations, some which are showing signs of infection...” His eyes suddenly widen, and he nearly throws the tablet down onto the nearest surface. “We need to get him in a pod, now.”
Shiro snaps to attention, heart pounding. “What? What is i-”
Before he can get the sentence out, Keith is coughing, violently, body convulsing. Shiro’s hands hover over him, panicked and uncertain.
“Coran...?”
“He’s bleeding internally!”
The words are like a slap across the face. As if to punctuate the point, Keith falls silent again, collapsing back onto the bed with a trickle of bright red blood running down his chin.
“Don’t bother with the suit!” Shiro can’t see who Coran is waving away, his focus is zoned in on the contrast of the blood against Keith’s too-pale skin. “Number One, your assistance, please?”
He jerks back to the present to see Coran scooping up Keith’s legs. Immediately he lunges forward and gets his arms underneath his torso and head, helping Coran carry him to the pod and place him gently but swiftly inside. The advisor darts to the control screen and punches buttons at twice his normal speed, and the pod closes.
A beep and a change in the lights indicate the healing cycle has begun. “He should make a full recovery,” Coran informs them, voice exhausted, and everyone in the room lets out a collective breath. “It’ll take a few quintants, though.”
Walking up next to Shiro to join him in staring up at Keith’s wan, sleeping face, Lance voices what everyone is still thinking. “What did they do to him?”
Another hopeful ending today! Also featuring a bit of Pidge whump. As always, please check the tags and let me know if I missed any. And if anyone wants to comment on/reblog any of my Whumptober fics so far that would make a fantastic birthday gift! 😉

“All the royals and diplomats are clear. What’s everyone’s status?”
“Just coming down the stairs,” Lance puffed. “Hunk’s with me. Be out in a tick.”
“Keith? Pidge?”
“On our way.” Keith skirted around a table and shattered vase that had fallen when the ground started shaking, and kept running. “We’re on the lowest level, but not sure...” He glimpsed a familiar room through an open door. “Wait. I think that was the dining hall we just passed.”
“It was!” Pidge confirmed from a few feet ahead.
“Okay. You guys need to hurry. The rebels could be back with more bombs any minute, and I’m not sure how much more the palace can stand. Allura and I are gonna get everyone underground; you all head to your Lions as soon as you’re out.”
“Roger.”
“Headed that way now!” Hunk replied.
"Quiznak."
Keith nearly ran into Pidge, who had skidded to a halt in front of him and was messing with her gauntlet. “What is it?”
