Day 6: Mistake
A/N: Does anyone here remember my OCs?? It's been ages since I've written anything for them. But this prompt made me think of them immediately and this tiny thing came out of it. I have no background for what happened in it tbh. Just wanted to write this scene in particular. For those who don't know who they are or want to read some more stuff with them please check out the tag #my-ocs. This goes alone with the super powered ocs Remy, Loch, Wyatt and Arya. I mostly write for Remy so this was fun. Hope you enjoy!
The infirmary doors flew open and slammed against the walls as a flurry of activity raced through. Doctors ran down the hall pushing a gurney with a trail of dirty, bloodied, disheveled, and worried people behind them. On the gurney laid an unconscious and bleeding team member.
Wyatt ran to keep up the group, eyes focused on the gurney as it headed through the glass doors of the operating theater.
It had all happened so fast. The four of them had gone out on what was supposed to be a regular mission. Infiltrate the facility and eliminate the threat. Something they’d done dozens if not hundreds of times now. Everything went as usual until he screwed up. It was his fault Remy was now bleeding out and might not make it. All because he had gone in too cocky and didn’t listen to his teammates.
He should have listened to them. He should have listened. This was his fault.
As Remy disappeared from sight the three of them, Loch, Arya and himself, were left behind in the waiting area. They were all breathing heavily covered in blood and dust. Wyatt could feel the heated anger coming from Arya and Loch....Wyatt had never seen him so upset before. To the outside observer Loch appeared almost calm but Wyatt had been on this team long enough to know better. There was a lot of worry and anger hidden beneath the calm.
Wyatt on the other was nearing hysterical. His hands practically vibrated in worry for his friend, fear of how Loch and Arya would respond and what would happen to him now, and guilt at what he had caused.
“What happened out there? How did this happen?” Wyatt felt a pit grown in his stomach as Loch asked the question he dreaded most.
"I'm sorry! I’m so sorry! It was just a mistake! I don't mean for this to happen! I didn’t see him there and it all happened so fast and I couldn’t stop it,” he rambled.
Suddenly, Arya was in his face and she shoved him hard in the chest. "Your mistake nearly got Remy killed! You didn’t listen! You just ran inside without thinking, like you always do and Remy might die because of you!”
“Please, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to-”
“You never do! Just stay back. You've done enough damage for one day." She snarled before turning on her heel and storming her way in after Remy.
Wyatt felt tears well up as he turned towards Loch. Loch stood in the center of the hall a few feet behind him. His arms were crossed and he wore a deep, worried frown across his face.
"I'm sorry. I'm so sorry," Wyatt cried, his tears finally falling down his cheeks.
Loch sighed and his hands tightened into fists. "I know you are. I know you didn't mean for this to happen," Loch looked him straight in the eyes, his gaze piercing, "but it did. I'm sorry Wyatt but you can't be in the field if you're not going to listen to orders. I told you that if you kept barreling into things without thinking that someone was going to get hurt, didn't I? Well someone got hurt." Loch uncrossed his arms and ran a hand through his blonde hair. "Just … Just go."
"What? But...but I want to be there for Remy."
Loch didn't meet his eyes. He'd really screwed up. Loch wouldn't even look at him now. Loch. The most kind and understanding person he knew. This was it. He was done for. He would be kicked off the team. He might lose his friend. His friend could still die. His chest ached as emotions overwhelmed him.
"I'll let you know what happens. For now just...just go back to the common rooms. We'll talk about this later." Without another word, Loch strode down the hallway leaving Wyatt alone, dejected, and afraid.
