We need more whumpees who don’t crave physical touch.

I see many (excellent posts) about whumpees who crave physical touch but are terrified.

What about the ones who genuinely don’t want it anymore? The ones who do have a problem with receiving it? The ones having to explain to their caretakers that they don’t even want it when they’re suffering, and yeah, it was hard for you to see, but don’t touch, please.

He actually looks at ease here if only for a second. I wonder if he thought he was dreaming still. Do you think Kaz Brekker, Dirtyhands, the bastard of the Barrel and the deadliest boy in Ketterdam has had dreams about waking up to Inej Ghafa beside him? I definitely do.

I actually really love this tiny Kanej moment. Inej apologies for touching him and then moves on for his sake- she doesn’t ask questions, she just lets it go. Lets him recover.

Still can’t quite believe we got this

I watched the episode of the Mentalist the other night where the victim's mom is a former client of Jane and Jane fakes having a psychic vision as a way to draw out the bad guy and show up the guy who is claiming to be a real psychic (it's 4x03) and now I can't stop thinking about what if....

What if Jane did have some psychic abilities but was only able to access it through touch and after his family were murdered he shut it off, shut it away, because he and his powers were the cause of their murder and he wants nothing to do with it anymore. Even after joining the CBI he relies more on his natural observation abilities and rarely if ever tries his real psychic skills.

Let's look at the show for a second. In all the flashbacks to when Jane was making money as a psychic he always (or almost always) holds the client's hands to give a reading. In the show he's just doing it for show but what if he did it because that's how he uses his gifts?

Also, Jane hates being touched by anyone outside of the CBI team. Lisbon, Rigsby, Cho and Van Pelt are the only ones he lets touch him. He is visibly uncomfortable when people initiate hugs with him and he gets angry and defensive if someone grabs his arm or touches him. That could be because when he touches someone he sees things!

And in this particular episode we have this former client tell him "you had a child. You lost her. Is that why you deny your gift?", "It must be a terrible burden you have. Of course you have to deny it." WHAT IF SHE WAS RIGHT?! What if he denied his gift!!

And because I like whump obviously, the scene of him faking a vision, if it was real, hits so many of my favorite things. Touch aversion, fear of seeing something against his will, experiencing what he sees, gagging at smells, feeling exhausted from the reading and nearly passing out, flinching away from being touched again (he even says "don't touch me! Please don't touch me.") Like, I know this is all fake in the show but I fucking love it. Jane was faking it all but of course I can't help but think what if he wasn't faking it!!?!!
