Day 6: Mistake
A/N: Does anyone here remember my OCs?? It’s been ages since I’ve written anything for them. But this prompt made me think of them immediately and this tiny thing came out of it. I have no background for what happened in it tbh. Just wanted to write this scene in particular. For those who don’t know who they are or want to read some more stuff with them please check out the tag #my-ocs. This goes alone with the super powered ocs Remy, Loch, Wyatt and Arya. I mostly write for Remy so this was fun. Hope you enjoy!
The infirmary doors flew open and slammed against the walls as a flurry of activity raced through. Doctors ran down the hall pushing a gurney with a trail of dirty, bloodied, disheveled, and worried people behind them. On the gurney laid an unconscious and bleeding team member.
Wyatt ran to keep up the group, eyes focused on the gurney as it headed through the glass doors of the operating theater.
It had all happened so fast. The four of them had gone out on what was supposed to be a regular mission. Infiltrate the facility and eliminate the threat. Something they’d done dozens if not hundreds of times now. Everything went as usual until he screwed up. It was his fault Remy was now bleeding out and might not make it. All because he had gone in too cocky and didn’t listen to his teammates.
He should have listened to them. He should have listened. This was his fault.
As Remy disappeared from sight the three of them, Loch, Arya and himself, were left behind in the waiting area. They were all breathing heavily covered in blood and dust. Wyatt could feel the heated anger coming from Arya and Loch….Wyatt had never seen him so upset before. To the outside observer Loch appeared almost calm but Wyatt had been on this team long enough to know better. There was a lot of worry and anger hidden beneath the calm.
Wyatt on the other was nearing hysterical. His hands practically vibrated in worry for his friend, fear of how Loch and Arya would respond and what would happen to him now, and guilt at what he had caused.
“What happened out there? How did this happen?” Wyatt felt a pit grown in his stomach as Loch asked the question he dreaded most.
“I’m sorry! I’m so sorry! It was just a mistake! I don’t mean for this to happen! I didn’t see him there and it all happened so fast and I couldn’t stop it,” he rambled.
Suddenly, Arya was in his face and she shoved him hard in the chest. “Your mistake nearly got Remy killed! You didn’t listen! You just ran inside without thinking, like you always do and Remy might die because of you!”
“Please, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to-”
“You never do! Just stay back. You’ve done enough damage for one day.” She snarled before turning on her heel and storming her way in after Remy.
Wyatt felt tears well up as he turned towards Loch. Loch stood in the center of the hall a few feet behind him. His arms were crossed and he wore a deep, worried frown across his face.
“I’m sorry. I’m so sorry,” Wyatt cried, his tears finally falling down his cheeks.
Loch sighed and his hands tightened into fists. “I know you are. I know you didn’t mean for this to happen,” Loch looked him straight in the eyes, his gaze piercing, “but it did. I’m sorry Wyatt but you can’t be in the field if you’re not going to listen to orders. I told you that if you kept barreling into things without thinking that someone was going to get hurt, didn’t I? Well someone got hurt.” Loch uncrossed his arms and ran a hand through his blonde hair. “Just … Just go.”
“What? But…but I want to be there for Remy.”
Loch didn’t meet his eyes. He’d really screwed up. Loch wouldn’t even look at him now. Loch. The most kind and understanding person he knew. This was it. He was done for. He would be kicked off the team. He might lose his friend. His friend could still die. His chest ached as emotions overwhelmed him.
“I’ll let you know what happens. For now just…just go back to the common rooms. We’ll talk about this later.” Without another word, Loch strode down the hallway leaving Wyatt alone, dejected, and afraid.
Here’s your continuation nonny!! I decided to add it onto the first part so people could read it all together. I hope you like it! (Also there’s a readmore because it got kinda long for a post)
Wyatt fled, turning and taking off back through the infirmary doors, up the many flights of stairs and into their living area before he knew his body was moving. He threw open the door and stumbled inside the darkened room. Loch and Arya’s words echoed through his head like a specter haunting him.
You’ve done enough damage!
Someone did get hurt.
Wyatt staggered down the hall and into his room, nearly falling to his knees over the enormous weight of his guilt pressing down on him. It was stifling. He couldn’t breathe. His chest ached and he couldn’t breathe, he couldn’t breathe!
Your mistake nearly got Remy killed!
Wyatt groaned and grabbed at his hair. “I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry!” he chanted.
Remy might die because of you!
Just go.
Go.
Wyatt let go of his hair and picked his head up, clarity reinvigorating him.
Yes. He should go. He shouldn’t be here. He doesn’t deserve to be here. Not anymore. Loch wanted him gone. Arya wanted him gone. When Remy woke up he’d want him gone too. That is…if Remy woke up.
Yes. It was best if he left.
His chest loosened, his breathing started to even out. Clarity came as he made his decision. Wyatt straightened up, pulled his duffle out from underneath his bed and began to pack a bag. He threw open his dresser drawers and grabbed random shirts and items, throwing them into his duffle without really thinking about what he was grabbing or what he’d need or even where he was going to go. He just packed.
This would save Loch the trouble of kicking him off the team. Loch was a good guy. He’d feel bad about it. This would save him the pain. Save them all the pain of having him around.
Wyatt zipped up the duffle, flung it over his shoulder, and walked out the door.

For Whumpmasinjuly day 19: send someone an ask about their whumpy fandoms or OC's
Respond with anything about them that you'd like!
Happy Whumpmas in July!! Thanks for the ask!
Omg okay what can I tell you about my OCs. Hmm..
Okay so Remy was the first OC I made and he started out as an oc in the marvel universe and then I gave him his own universe and a team of his own. He is my baby and I love him. Remy was held captive and experimented on by a group of people hell bent on creating super people but all their experiments kept dying rather than getting powers until Remy. He managed to use his newfound powers to escape their hold but it took a long time and he had very not good time before escaping. After a while of living on the streets he meets Loch who had his powers since birth (family trait) and the two struck up a friendship. They started living together. Loch helped him master his fire powers and then most of my stories take place after they've established a team of 4 that work in conjunction with the government as like a spec ops team.
I also have these two OCs Will and Shade that I have plans for but haven't gotten much written for them. Will is just your average dude who happens to run across a very injured villain named Shade and sort of saves his life. Shade keeps returning to him whenever he's hurt. They becomes friends. I have this story that Will gets taken in an effort to capture Shade and it's angsty as fuck. Just need to write it lol
Then I have my 3 supernatural/fantasy peeps that I have only vague posted about. Scott, Aiden, and Imra. Scott is a telepath. Aiden is a werewolf. Imra is the token normal. They are in a poly relationship with each other. I focus mostly on Scott cause I like telepath whumping. He's a police detective (excellent excuse to whump him more lol). I don't have much on these guys yet but someday I'd love to share some writing for them.
@quicksweetdreamer That honestly makes me incredibly happy to hear and I wish I had more full stories for them all to share with you! I'm trying to finish my Cursed fic before I write anything but ooooh i have sooooo many ideas for my ocs. Maybe I'll try to write some short things for them all more often. But I'm so happy to hear you're interested in them all!!!

an unexplained breath of cold washes over your skin as a disembodied voice requests,
what are five headcanons about your characters?
oooh fun!
1. Remy knows all the words to Mamma Mia. All of them. It's his favorite.
2. Loch eats the weirdest combination of foods you can imagine. Like using can squeezy cheese on top of oreos kind of weird. It grosses everyone out but especially Wyatt since he loves food and cooks.
3. Growing up, Arya wanted to be dancer.
4. Wyatt collects rocks he thinks are cool. His favorite is the one that looks like an elephant.

everyone go make your whumpees in this picrew
Toby holding a bloodied and dying Austen.
I tried my hands at Lock and Remy for this but I ended up just enjoying making a scene lol. In this scene, I see Remy having done something bloody and violent while under the control of the villain and Loch just saved him and is reassuring him everything's gonna be okay.
Stop having such good OCs!!! (Just kidding. Keep having amazing OCs. And I personally think that you can never have too many. 😁😁) and I love the idea of yours having a poly relationship! That seems like something I never see, so I'm super excited to see how they show it to you!!
💗💗💗💗 THANKS BABE!!! I’m so glad you like them!! And yeah you’re so right. You can never have too many ocs lol. So true. I’ve always loved the idea of being in poly relationship myself so I’m secretly really excited these guys were like “hey we’re together”. I’m a little nervous to explore it (I want to make sure I do it right/well) but also really excited. I’m already picturing such soft moments between the three of them and I love it. Eeep! I’m so glad your excited about them!
Me at me:
Do not make another oc just because you want to write whump involving psychic/telepathic powers.
Do not make another oc just because you want to write whump involving psychic/telepathic powers.
Do not make another oc just because you want to write whump involving psychic/telepathic powers.
YOU HAVE TOO MANY OCS AS IT IS! Do not make another oc just because you want to write whump involving psychic/telepathic powers!!!
You know what brain!
I swear to god my life is the definition of this post
Because GUESS WHAT!!! Last night I dreamt them up.
I've never had ocs come together so quickly before. I mean I've had Remy and the others for literally years and I'm still unsure about some things with then. Hell I dont even know what Arya looks like! But these three? They came barrelling into my dreams and told me their names what they like, what they did, who they are and even showed me what they look like. I even found stock photos that exactly like I pictured them. It's insane!
So meet Scott, Aiden, and Imra.
Scott is a police detective and he's a telepath (with some other psychic abilities).
Aiden is a photographer and he's a werewolf.
Imra is a really great baker. Even owns her own shop. (she's human but is really proud of how well she can bake so anytime the boys are like "I'm a telepath", "I'm a werewolf", she's like "I'm a really good baker!" She mentions it whenever she can lol)
All three live together because THEY IN LOVE BITCHES! That's right. They came to me last night and said "hey we're poly and we're here to stay."
Anyway, Scott is gonna be the main whumpee here. I wanted to whump a telepath. My brain gave me a telepath. It also gave him a dangerous job and two people who love him and will take care of him when he is hurt or sick. So I'm set lol.
I'm picturing Scott being kinda new to his powers? Like they just unlocked or something. Maybe due to something that happened in the job? Idk yet. Anyway, he's new and still learning how to filter things out and turn things down and control it all. He gets migraines easily and often picks up people's dreams and nightmares when he sleeps. It's also connected to touch. Its amplified by touch. So that can be a challenge. Aiden and Imra are learning to build mental walls around him so they can not hurt him. He uses his powers at work. It's great for interrogating perps and searching crowds for suspects. But he has to be careful in crowds because it can overwhelm him quickly. Collapsing on the ground in pain type of overwhelming.
Aiden's been a werewolf for forever so he's got his stuff 100% down to a science but he still feels like shit around the full moon.
Imra just loved her boys and is a big ray of sunshine. She loves her library and her baking and she's a very happy and loving person.
Ideas I have for whumpage:
As always this is subject to change since I literally just came up with it and my brain is fickle but here they are!
Ask and you shall receive.
I got a telepath to whump lol.
Okay but I hope you know we're going to want deets on this new OC of yours once you've figured them out😉
Lol! Really!? Aww!
Don't worry! I will totally share the details when they come cause let's be real, I'm making that OC. I can say no all I want but we all know that if an oc comes a knocking I'm answering lol. I've already got a kind of idea for him and I think he comes with two others....so....yeah. I'll totally let you know who he is when he comes to say hi!
Okay but how can I not love Loch when he's a bisexual blonde-haired blue-eyed caretaking party animal nerd😍
AWWWW!!!! That’s so sweet of you to say!!! I’m happy to hear that! Yup that’s my Loch! You got him nailed lol. I love my party loving dork so much and I’m thrilled you love him too! I really should try to write something more for him in terms of story. If you have any ideas you’d like to see let me know! Maybe it’ll spark something for me :) Either way, THANK YOU FOR MAKING MY DAY!!! :D <3
I'm so glad that I'm not the only one who has my characters talk to me!!!! I still don't know a lot about my OCs except their current situation myself. Everyone else seems to have theirs fleshed out and I'm just like ????
Ahhh you too!!! Awesome!! Yeah i felt kinda weird saying that but it’s the truth. I do not control what my character say, do, or what the tell me about themselves. All I do is listen and write it down. I have no idea how people have their characters and stuff so fleshed out! It’s mighty impressive! It’d be really nice if I could get Arya to stop playing hard to get and just tell me about herself lol. Every time I think i got something she’s like NOPE! NOT ME! And i go okay and delete it lol. Glad i’m not the only one like this!
Hey, I'd love to know more about your OCs ☺
Asdfghjklasdjkl!! You do?!! That’s awesome! I’m thrilled to talk about them!
So basically I have 6 steady OCs.
The first four, Remy, Lock, Arya, and Wyatt, all belong together. They’re a superhero team. So in their world there’s a whole bunch of superhero teams and they have to be registered with this agency. Loch is in charge of and put together this team and got everyone set up with the registration. You basically just have to pass a interview and make sure you have control over your powers and you’re good (Remy hated the whole the process but he’s a private, untrusting dude). Then your team is given a quadrant to protect and then are basically allowed to live and work as you wish (with certain laws and rules in place). Basically I loved the idea of the 2012 avengers superhero team dynamics so I made my own only i gave them some regulation lol. Loch set up the team and recruited the others (well really he found them all and adopted them lol).
Then there’s Shade and Will who are newer. For the most part they’re separate from my team group but I feel like they’re in the same universe and just haven’t met. Will is a nurse who works the night shift and Shade is an assassin for hire. He is feared by the world mostly because he’s a mystery who leaves behind destruction in his wake. The two of them meet when Will ends up saving his life and Shade is the grumpy one who grows attached to this normal person. Hijinks ensue.
My ocs are all constantly under development and I learn new things about them with every story I write. Loch and Remy are the most developed but still have a lot I need to learn about them. The others are newer and I don’t know as much about them. But I’m always learning new things about them and I love that :)
More details on each one of them below!
Remiel “Remy” Jackson
Remy was the very first OC I made and actually developed. He’s my first born and most developed character. He’s my baby :)
Power: He can make and control fire.
Age: 28
Sexuality: Asexual
Appearance: Tall, black hair cut in an undercut. It’s curly and sort of long up top and hangs over his eyes a bit. He’s fit but not like buff. He has dark eyes and a scar that runs across the corner of his left eyebrow. Mr. grumpy pants. Constantly seen in a hoodie or jacket and with headphones either in his ears or around his neck.
Background details:
Remy was not born with his powers like the rest of the team. He was taken captive by a crazed scientist hell bent on creating the perfect human. He believed human beings were capable of much more and experimented on whoever he could his hands on. Remy was one of these people. He and a group of friends were on vacation together when they were taken. He was the only one to make it out alive.
Remy spent a long time living in the compound. He was kept in a cage like an animal only being taken out to for the experiments. It was painful and traumatic for him. He watched as one by one his friends died from the experiments. Remy not only survived but the Doctors experiments worked and one day he was burning up. It felt like he was being burned alive from the inside out. That’s when his powers came forth. Once he learned to control them he used them to blow his way out of the compound but since he was the only success the doc made he’s still looking for him. He has a weird and creepy infatuation with him and won’t stop until he finds him again.
Remy then lived on the streets for a while before he met Loch. Things happened. He then moved in with him and he and Loch have been best friends ever since. Remy has flashbacks and nightmares and such but Loch is always there to help him. He keeps to himself a lot and constantly seems angry but he’s not. Wyatt’s energy can sometimes wear him out and he retreats to be alone. I think of him a lot like Zuko from ATLA tbh.
Lachlan “Loch” Tiernan
Power: Energy manipulation. Takes the form of green energy that swirls around him and he uses that to fight and do other things like lift giants slabs of concrete.
Age: 30
Sexuality: Bisexual
Appearance: Blond hair cut very nice and clean. He’s slightly taller than Remy. Stereotypical blue eyed, blond hair white boy. Soft eyes and almost always has a smile on his face. He’s also a bit more muscular than Remy (he enjoys a good workout). Wears simple clothes with light colors. Like a tshirt and pair of jeans is his go to relaxing outfit. He’s not too interested in fashion.
Background Details:
Loch was born into money and into his superpower (family trait) so he has had his whole life to control his powers and he uses his money to provide for his team. That includes housing and food and anything they need. He’s the team leader and the caretaker of the group. He’s super calm and great at negotiating and making plans. While he seems like the kind of dude who is super nerdy and only into books he’s a big partier. Like, he LOVES parties. He throws a giant halloween party every year and just loves going to clubs and dancing and shit. He’s a nerd too but one that loves to party lol.
Wyatt McGregor
Power: Speed and Matter manipulation.
Age: 26
Sexuality: Straight (unless I discover he’s not. still learning about them all)
Appearance: He’s of Mexican descent and has auburn hair that’s kinda floppy. Because of his power (speed) he burns through calories pretty quickly so he’s pretty skinny. He tends to wear more bright colored, outrageous looking outfits.
Background Details:
Still in development tbh but he loves to cook and he’s this happy go lucky super energetic weirdo. He’s the one who goes to all the clubs with Loch. He’s also the super sensitive one on the team. He feels a lot.
Arya
Power: Her sense of direction. Which sounds weird when I say it like that but I picture being able to like astral project herself to locate things and explore areas. I know she has another power too but I haven’t settled on what yet.
Age: 29
Sexuality: ???
Appearance: ???
Background Details:
Okay I don’t have a lot on Arya at the moment. Honestly she keeps avoiding me every time I try to expand on her character. Like she doesn’t want to tell me who she is. That’s why she isn’t in a lot of my fics so far. I can’t seem to settle on a singular appearance or superpower for her. She just won’t talk to me and tell me about her self and it’s very frustrating.
I know she’s tough on the outside but soft inside. When she smiles she lights up the room. She loves a good workout and she and Loch work out together a lot. Remy and her get along cause she doesn’t mind sitting in the quiet and doing nothing for a while. She’s patient and calm but be very afraid if you’ve pissed her off cause she’ll destroy you.
Will the civilian and Shade the villain
These two are very new and very underdeveloped tbh. They were born out of me seeing a cool prompt and needing someone to write it out with. Shade is like this shadow creature. He’s dark, mysterious, mean and scary. He does his job and does it well. He grows attached to Will because Will is the first person to not be terrified of him. Will helps him when he’s hurt. Will yelled at him for being an idiot. No one has ever done that before. Will’s just this dude dedicated to healing no matter what and grew to care about this guy (cause in the end he is just a guy and no this big bad mysterious entity the news make him out to be).
I love hurt villains who get rescued by civilians and this kind of just happened. Hope you all enjoy my two new OCs of whom I know next to nothing about lol. I certainly enjoyed writing it.
Will was walking home after a long day at work at the hospital’s trauma center when he noticed a trail of what looked like blood coming from the alleyway ahead of him. Without thinking about the consequences he ran towards the alleyway. That amount of blood meant someone was badly hurt. He began running through triage procedures in his head but what he found in that alley stopped him in his tracks.
There, propped up against the side of a dirty dumpster, was Shade, the notorious villain and assassin. They seemed to be unconscious, one arm draped across their stomach, the other splayed out on the ground. Blood coated their hands and pooled on the ground beneath them. Will wasn’t sure if Villain was alive but if he was, he needed medical attention badly.
Will hesitated. This was Shade. They’ve caused so much fear and death. He was evil. He wouldn’t hesitate to kill Will where he stood. He killed people for a living! He should run. Call the police. Or just leave him there to die for all the people he’d hurt or killed.
No. This man needed help. What kind of medical professional would he be if he refused to help someone who needed it. He wouldn’t leave him here to die.
Will approached the prone man with caution. The blood squished underneath his shoes making a disturbing squelching sound as he walked. When he was close enough, he could see that Shade’s eyes were closed but he was breathing, albeit barely. Alive then. Good. There was large wound on his abdomen, possibly a gunshot wound, which was still bleeding heavily. He had to apply pressure on it and stop the bleeding before anything else.
As Will reached out to apply pressure, a hand closed around his wrist in a vice-like grip. Startled, Will looked up to see Shade’s eyes open and glaring harshly at him. Fear settled in the Will’s gut and sweat broke out on his forehead. Oh god, he thought. What was I thinking!? He’s gonna kill me!
“What are you doing?,” Shade asked in a harsh voice.
Too frightened to move, Will just stammered, “Y-you’re…bleeding. I was just-.
“Who are you.”
“M..my name’s Will.”
“Did they send you to finish me off?” He asked, grip getting even tighter causing Will to wince in pain. That was definitely going to leave a bruise.
“Ow! No! I swear. I saw you here, bleeding. I just want to help.”
Dark, pain-filled eyes raked over him, examining him for any sign of a threat. Apparently he determined him to be insignificant because the bloody hand released his wrist and went to push himself up off the ground. Shade groaned at the pain caused by the movement and fell back down on the ground. He gripped his stomach in an effort to quell the pain and coughed several times.
“Are..are you okay?”
“Do I look okay?” Shade snapped as he attempted, once again, to sit up straighter.
“Okay, right. Sorry. Stupid question. Uh, let me help you.” Will reached out to help him only to have his hands slapped away.
“Fuck off. I don’t need your help. Why aren’t you running away? I can tell from the look on your face that you know who I am.”
“Yes. I..I know who you are. But I was taught that, good or bad, everyone deserves help when they need it.”
“Oh god are you serious with that sappy piece of shit? “Everyone deserves help?” Fuck that. I don’t need or want your help. Go the fuck away before I decide to kill you.”
“…You swear a lot, you know that?”
“Does that bother you?” he snarled.
“…No,” Will lied. Swearing tended to make him uncomfortable. But really, what about this situation was comfortable?
Shade snorted out a laugh which only led to a spasm of pain shooting through his body. “Ung! Fuck!” he cried out curled up protectively around his stomach.
“Okay look, you need medical attention. Let me help you.” Will’s fear of the villain was ebbing away as it became clear that Shade was too weak, to injured, to hurt him. The mental image he held of him was quickly dissolving the longer he interacted with the man. The news always talked about him as though he was evil incarnate. A shadow that could never be caught and that everyone should fear. The person lying in front of him, bleeding out in a dark and dirty alley, was not the same person the media talked about. This was just a man who needed help.
Breathing heavily as the pain settled, the villain turned to stare at Will, “Why help me? I’m a villain. You’d be doing the world a favor leaving me here to die.”
“Don’t say that!“ Will shouted, shocking the villain, "No one deserves to die. Not even you. I’m not going to leave you like this. At least let me take you to hospital or call an ambulance.”
“No!” Shade shouted, turning his glare back towards Will at the suggestion. “There’s no fucking way I’m going to the goddamn hospital! Fuck! Just go away or I will kill you! You’re starting to piss me off.”
“…You won’t kill me. And I am going to help you.” Will said with determination.
Suddenly, Shade started to cough harshly into his palm. Deep, wet coughs. His face grimaced in pain after each one. Will could see speckles of blood on his lips when he finished and removed his hand. Not good.
Sagging against the dumpster Shade quietly asked, “Why? I don’t know you. As we’ve already established, you know who I am and you’re afraid of me. It’s written all over your face.”
“I have to admit that I am afraid of you. But I think if you were going to kill me you’d have done so already. Plus…I’m a nurse. I…I might be able to help you without going to a hospital. Just let me take a look at your injury.”
Shade smirked.
“What?”
“You’re a nurse?”
“Yes. I’m a nurse. There are male nurses. It is a thing. Besides, you’re a criminal. How about not judging my profession?”
Shade shrugged and closed his eyes, head resting back down against the dumpster. Exhaustion was evident. He sighed heavily, “….Do what you want. What do I care.”
Taking that as permission, Will moved closer and gently pulled back the soiled fabric covering the wound. It was still bleeding but seemed to be slowing down. Will gently prodded the area trying to determine the extent of the damage. Soft grunts occasionally came Shade as he examined him but he never moved.
Will took off his jacket and turned it into a make shift bandage, bundling parts of it on top of the wound and using the sleeves to secure it. The jacket would be ruined but he could always get another.
Will turned to address Shade only to discover his eyes had closed and his breathing had severely diminished.
"Hey! Shade wake up! Stay with me!” Will frantically shook him trying to bring him back into consciousness. He slapped his cheek a few times hoping the shock would bring him back.
“Ung. Stop shouting. ’M awake.” Shade’s eyes fluttered open.
“Oh God. Jesus. Good. Okay. You have to try and stay awake okay? I bandaged you up as best as I could but you need more help. This is the best I can do here. We need to get you to my place. I have supplies there that can help. Can you walk? My place isn’t far.”
“…Not sure.” Shade’s voice was beginning to slur and he was struggling to stay conscious.
“I’ll help you. Come on.” Will straightened up and pulled the villain’s arm over his shoulder. With all the strength he could muster, he lifted him up on his feet. Shade’s face turned a sickly shade of white and his eyes tightened in pain. Giving him a minute to get control of his pain and to get used to his new vertical position, Will held on tight. Eventually, Shade opened his eyes and nodded at Will. Together, the two of them began the trek to Will’s apartment.

For my badthingshappenbingo card and for @itisasign
It had been a long couple of weeks for the team. They had been going from one mission to another with barely any time in between. At one point, they had just finished wrapping up a very long op when they got a call to immediately go on another with no time to rest in between except for short naps on the plane flights.
On top of that, this last mission hadn’t gone so well. They were tired and they made mistakes and Wyatt got hurt because of it. It wasn’t too bad but he got hit on the head pretty hard when he went down. The doctor said he’d be okay but it might take a few days for him to wake up.
Loch had spent the entire time Wyatt was in the infirmary sitting by his bedside. He felt guilty. It was his error that resulted in Wyatt getting thrown into the brick wall knocking him out cold. If he had done his job and taken care of his area properly Wyatt would have been able to get passed the wall without any incident. But he screwed up and didn’t take out all of the bad guys in time. And Wyatt got hurt. His fault. All his fault.
Remy and Arya had tried to get him to leave and rest but he refused. He wasn’t tired, he kept telling them. In reality, he couldn’t sleep until he knew Wyatt was awake and okay.
While he sat on that hard plastic chair by Wyatt’s bed, he worked on his long to do list. The pile of after action reports and paperwork he hadn’t had time to do thanks to the many ops they were assigned, the speech for the upcoming press conference in three days that still needed to be written. Plus he wanted to talk to R&D about upgrading Wyatt’s (and the others) armor so he worked on his ideas and designs he’d present to them after the press conference.
He didn’t have time to sleep.
It was three days before Wyatt woke up and Loch was right there when he did. Wyatt was confused and groggy but okay, just like the doctors said. He’d be in the infirmary for a few more days of observation. Loch apologised profusely to Wyatt when he was coherent and Wyatt just smiled and told him it wasn’t his fault but Loch knew that wasn’t true. Wyatt was just being kind.
Soon he was ushered out of the room by doctors wanting to run to some tests to make sure Wyatt’s brain was healing properly. He was shoved aside and the door closed in his face before Loch could say anything more.
It occurred to him that he should tell Remy and Arya that Wyatt is awake so he sent a quick text to them both. He considered briefly going to bed, Wyatt was awake now, but there was still too much to do and too many thoughts running through his head. Unable to quiet his mind, Loch made his way to his office. He really needed to finish all that paperwork. So for the first time in three days, Loch left Wyatt in the capable hands of the doctors and stumbled his way upstairs to his office.
Sleep could wait.
—————————————————————————–
After receiving Loch’s text, Remy mad his way to Wyatt’s room expecting to see Loch sitting in that same uncomfortable gray chair he had taken up residence in for the past few days but he was nowhere to be seen. Half a dozen empty coffee cups were strewn about the room. Confused he opted to ignore that for now and greeted Wyatt who is sitting up in bed looking bored out of his mind.
“Hey Sleeping Beauty, how are you feeling?” he said as he reached the foot of Wyatt’s bed.
“Bored and ready to get the hell out of here but “Nurse Ratchet” won’t let me go. Something about “observation”. I’m fine!” Wyatt dramatically threw his hands in the air in frustration as he replied.
Putting his hands up in surrender, Remy smiled and quickly responded, “Hey if I could spring you out I would but there’s no way I’m getting on her bad side. That woman is terrifying.”
“Hmm, yeah don’t blame you there.”
“Where did Loch go? He texted that you were awake, I assumed he was here still.”
“He was here when I woke up but I think the docs scare him away. How long had Loch been sitting here anyway?”“I don’t think he’s left that chair since you were brought here. Arya and I both tired to get him to leave but he wouldn’t. He insisted on being here when you woke up.”“Wow. He didn’t need to do that. I’m fine. Has he slept at all in the past three days at least? He looked exhausted!”
“I…don’t know. If he did, it was in that chair. I’ll talk to him. Maybe now that you’re awake he’ll go to bed properly.”
____________
Remy found Loch standing over a pile of papers strewn about his desk. He watched as Loch pinched the bridge of his nose and sighed.
“So it seems that Wyatt is gonna live. He always did have a hard head. I was surprised you weren’t there. I thought your butt was permanently glued to the chair in there. Everything okay?” Remy said as he took a step into the room.
Loch, startled by Remy’s appearance, stood up straight and began to shuffle all his papers together in a pile, “Remy. Yeah. Course. Everything’s fine. “M glad Wyatt’s okay. That’s good.”
“Yeah…
As Loch rounded the corner of his desk he stopped abruptly. His hand shot out and grabbed the corner of the desk as if to steady himself. He closed his eyes tightly in an attempt to stop the room from spinning around him.
“Loch? You okay?” Remy asked as he moved closer to his friend.
“Y..yeah. ‘M fine.” Loch let go of the desk and took a step. Suddenly, Loch’s eyes rolled to the back of his and he fell to the floor in a heap. Remy rushed forward, catching him before his head hit the floor and pulled up into his lap.
“Shit! Loch are you okay?! Loch!” Remy shouted, trying to figure what the hell just happened. He ran his hands over Loch’s long limbs trying to find out if there was an injury he hadn’t mentioned after the mission but he found nothing. He moved to his chest, slowly trailing his hands over his ribs checking for broken bones or wounds. Once again, nothing. As he ran his fingers through Loch’s greasy blonde hair, checking for any head injuries, the aforementioned person’s eyes fluttered open.
Loch blinked up at him confused, “Remy?….what? What happened?”
“You passed out. Do you feel okay? Are you injured? Maybe we should take you down to medical.”
“No…I’m…fine. I’m fine. Just…got a bit dizzy is all,” Loch replied as moved to sit up.
Keeping a hand on Loch’s shoulder he helped him into a sitting position on the floor. Loch was pale and shaky. There were dark circles under his eyes and he swayed slightly just sitting on the ground. “When was the last time you slept?” Remy asked.
Loch, now sitting on the floor and swaying slightly back and forth, scrunched his eyes as he thought, “Umm…I’m not sure. Grabbed a few hours on the plane back from our last op.”
“Our last op?” Remy does some quick mental calculations, “That was four days ago! Are you telling me that you haven’t slept in four days?”
“No..I..it can’t have been that long ago.”
“Trust me, the flight back was definitely four days ago. No wonder you look like you could be taken down by a feather. That’s it. You’re going to bed. Right now.”
Loch tries to stand up, determined to finished his work, but falls back down on his knees as a wave of dizziness hits him once again. He closes his eyes tightly to stop the spinning. “Can’t go to bed… Too much to do…”“Whatever you have to do can wait until later.” Remy gripped his shoulders to keep him steady.
Loch stared hard at Remy although the spinning room made it somewhat difficult to pinpoint his friend’s perpetually grumpy face. “It’s important Remy. Needs to get done.”
“What could be so important that you’d put yourself at risk like this? What if we got a call and had to go to battle right now? Are you fighting fit?”
“It’s gotta get done. We all need new gear, especially Wyatt since his got sort of broken in the last mission. I need to get the order forms and specifications down to R&D… and… there’s all the after mission paperwork..and..the press conference…Need to prepare for that.”
“You don’t have to do all that by yourself. I’ll take care of all the paperwork for both R&D and the after mission reports. Arya can handle the press conference. She’s good at that stuff. You spend all your time taking care of us. Let me take care of you this time. You need to sleep, Loch. Please?”
“Sleep…I can’t…Too much to do.”
“I’m not really giving you a choice here. You’re going to bed”. Remy smiled slightly at Loch’s subsequent pout. “Come on, up you go. You need to sleep.” Taking him under the arms, Remy picks him up off the floor and carries him bridal style out the door.
Loch slumped bonelessly into Remy’s arms already half asleep. Remy smirks and shifts him a bit in his arms so that his resting against his chest. Loch, too tired to protest, snuggles up close and closes his eyes.
Remy made his way to Loch’s bedroom and kicked the door open. The wood splintered a bit but he could fix that later. He made his way over to Loch’s bed, he gently placed him on the sheets and pulled the covers up to his chin. Loch hardly moved the entire time but once his head hit the pillow he sighed and curled up on his side into a comfortable ball, his face smooshing into the pillow.
Remy chuckled and whispered, “Sleep tight, Loch.” Remy was sure he was asleep but as he got up to leave, he was stopped by a hand grabbing his sleeve. He looked down at Loch and found his eyes open and staring up at him.
“Thank you.”
Remy, a bit startled, just shook his head and smiled, “Get some sleep. You’ve earned it.”
Loch hummed and let go of Remy’s sleeve. He was asleep before his hand hit the mattress.
