Skyfall commission from a couple years back.

The handwritten detail is from the scene where M reads a passage from Tennyson's poem 'Ulysses' at her testimony.

"We are not now that strength which in old days

Moved earth and heaven; that which we are, we are;

One equal temper of heroic hearts,

Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will

To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield."

Your art style is amazing. Your work reminds me much of Yoji Shinkawa's. How did you learn to draw like that? I can't seem to get any amazing work out of my brush pen.

Thanks so much.

I actually used to be afraid of ink once upon a time. I played it safe with the pencil and I was all about keeping my work super crisp and clean, but I kept hearing over and over that my stuff looked too stiff at portfolio reviews — and it was true.

In an attempt to take my work 180 degrees the opposite direction, I started looking at a lot of artists that work with ink and gesture — that’s where Shinkwawa, Yoshitaka Amano, Ashley Wood, Bill Sienkiewicz, Jorge Zaffino, and a host of others influenced me to throw caution to the wind and cut loose with a brush and ink.

The only way to learn the brush is to just stick with it. I find that things work out best when I don’t over-think it — try to flow like water. :)
