Inktober / GearTober 2022 Day 6 : Bouquet. Meryl getting married in MGS4, escorted by her formerly estranged Uncle, Col. Roy Campbell. I guess she WOULD walk down the aisle with a gun strapped to her hip, but I didn’t notice till this drawing that her holster is empty in the scene — I guess she set it aside after her and Campbell had their moment. 

Remember when we weren’t certain that Meryl survived the first game?? 

Day 4 : Scallop. Eli, from MGSV — who grows up to become the villainous Liquid Snake. My mind first went to a character associated with a shell, but then realized scallop could be the pattern seen in the snake. 

Inktober 2022 Day 5 : Flame. Had to go quick on this one. Micron .08 and Windsor Newton Series 7, Size 2. 

Inktober 2022 Day 3 : Bat. Don’t run in a cave with vampire bats or they’re gonna snack you up, Snake. Did anyone else figure out that the bats will leave you alone if you equip the Active Sonar in the caves?

Day 2 : Scurry. That time when Snake was passing through the blast furnace, and Otacon suggested he take the path over the lava by scaling the wall on a narrow ledge like the rats were doing. 

Inktober returns! I’ll be following the prompts, but once again will be dedicating my entries to the Metal Gear Solid characters — Gear-Tober. 

Day 1 : Gargoyle. I thought the lonely, partially destroyed and near-forgotten Metal Gear Rex from MGS4 would suffice. Such a moment revisiting Rex’s lair in that game. 

Solid Snake is my Batman.

Here's a page from one of my favorite projects from the last few years - Jaguar Shoes: In the House of the Unholy Knife. A short Sci-Fi story about a group of shinobi sisters leading a fight to rescue the future of an impoverished population. I got to really flex the inkwash on a lot of the pages, and I recall keeping rather relaxed when creating them -- letting loose of trying to control the outcome while letting the ink do it's thing.
