so when I played mario land a while back, I couldn’t get this dumb thought out of my head.

we all kinda figured princess peach and princess daisy grew from the pieces of princess toadstool after the failed guillotining in mario is missing. it’s like the oldest most universal video game theory. but for nintendo to explicitly confirm it in an unskippable cutscene in a mainline game just feels wrong

We all remember this commercial, but how many people know the movie the live action footage comes from?  I sure don’t.

I don’t think I’ve seen the commercial, but I’m pretty sure the live action footage is from Design for Dreaming, a peculiar, surreal 1956 short about a Motorama and The Future. Got riffed in an MST3K episode.

You know what?  I think I even saw that.  Didn't make a connection.
