Reblog if you know what this is.

It’s the title card of the "Worker and Parasite” cartoon shown on The Krusty the Clown Show in the Simpsons episode “Krusty Gets Kancelled.”  I remade it in a nice Cyrillic font I found on Photoshop.

In case you were wondering, the transliteration is mostly unpronounceable and totally meaningless.  Some of the letters don’t occur in any version of the Cyrillic alphabet, and a few are arbitrarily backwards.

The Cyrillic text at the beginning reads, “Vfhui ZoRie m Sfir Et. Seronzh, Snezon ft Umextoih ©1959 zem.”  I don’t think it’s from any real language.  Some of the letters are also incorrect.  One of the “Р”s is backwards, the “Ж” is upside down, the minuscule “Е,” “М,” and “Т” are wrong, and “I,” “N,” “S,” and “Z” don’t occur in Cyrillic.  Inexplicably, the text at the end uses the Roman alphabet.

Bosančica, an extinct Bosnian variation of Cyrillic, created and used in Bosnia in the early Medieval age.

I just learned that tag searches on Tumblr are diacritic sensitive.  Searching "Bosancica" doesn't bring up any posts, but searching "Bosančica" brings up this one (and no others).

Oh, and the nitpicker in me wants to point out that "Medieval age" is redundant.  "Medieval" is the adjectival form of "Medium Ævum," or "Middle Age."

cyrillick

This is the first Bulgarian graffiti typeface in cyrillic created for the 24th of May (Bulgarian national holiday celebrating the alphabet) as part of our campaign for Sprite Graffiti Fest 2014.

Our challenge was to keep the graffiti style and still have legible letters. We strived for a functional font that would not only be useful for the graffiti community, but also for a wider audience. This way, apart from promoting graffiti we also help build a pool of more and diverse cyrillic typefaces.

Client – Sprite Graffiti Fest

Designers/Artists – Arsek & Erase (Four Plus)

Font Developers – Ani Petrova & Vasil Stanev (Fontfabric)
