Ostracon (Greek Ostrakon) Ostraca -plural: Archaeologists use this term to refer to ceramic pot sherds with inscriptions on them, the inscriptions placed after the pot was broken and thus separate from normal decoration.
In Athens the voting public used ostracon as a ballot on which the name of a person voted to be ostracized (exiled from Athens for a period of 10 years) was inscribed.

Fun facts: Oysters are named after ostraca (or the other way around). Because of linguistic ambiguity, we don't know if the Alexandrian philosopher Hypatia was stabbed to death with pot sherds or oyster shells.

Ancient mosaic depicting dolphins. I have no idea where this amazing work was discovered (except that this image is from the Encyclopedia Britannica).
If I learned nothing else obtaining my art degree, I know a Hellenistic floor mosaic when I see one. This one come from the House of Dolphins on the island of Delos.
