The discovery of ASKAP J1935+2148, a radio transient with a 53.8-minute period and variable emissions, hints at unexplored celestial phenomena, possibly involving a neutron star or a white dwarf in a binary system.

This was the picture and caption from the 1990 edition of World Book Encyclopedia. That’s the one we had so this is what nuclear physics looks like to me. Burnt into my brain forever.

I was at a party a couple months ago, and one of the C.D.s we were listening to had particle paths from a cloud chamber on the cover.  I tried to explain what they were, and nobody there had ever heard of such a thing.

Addendum: I think I found the album.
