THE QUEENS OF KOPERN

[ A T L A N T A ] the oldest queen. while her domain is completely livable, it is known for being barren; any excess riches go to the royal family. as such, she is known for her lavish estate and wardrobe. many of her family members are politicians in the city. 

[ T H A L I A ] because of the access to the woods, the river, and farmland that the greater forest provides, thalia, intelligent and business-oriented, runs her region as a production powerhouse. 

[ L E X A ] full name alexiathanum. the only queen that married into royalty. she prioritizes conservation of the rare plants and animals in her and her wife’s shared region. 

[ S I E R R A ] sierra spends nearly all of her time in her mountaintop palace, rarely venturing into other regions, or even her own. her laboratory is infamous, and her and her laboratory technicians are seen as very mysterious. 

[ A Y A N A ] ayana is the highest ranking queen on the second generation board of queens, and her mother was the highest ranking on the first generation board. she did not become heir to the throne until she was an adolescent, and some speculate it is because of this that she is so ill-suited to being a monarch. she cares far more about royal aesthetics than the job itself. 

[ Y T T R I A ] the youngest queen. her region is known as being the only one that is self-sustaining and could exist on its own without trade with the other regions. it is also known for its wildlife problem; the woods and the town are overrun by vicious wolves. she is proud of her region’s successes and unconcerned by its downfalls--after all, if people don’t want to get eaten by a wolf, they simply don’t have to live in her domain.

[ wip introduction // content will be a little light until after nano, but interact with this post to be on the up in flames taglist :-) ]

 i. oh, how the city burned. the flames crawled up every building he had ever loved, scorching and blackening the walls behind them, licking up at the infinite sky. the angel stood on the edge of it all, the magma of a guilty man dripping from his fingertips. he tore the halo from his head, the delicate glass shattering as he smashed it against the ground. the soft, golden glow faded, and only fire lit the scene. 

ii. a black tower rose up from the ashes. corvids and rats flocked there; they had always existed in the city, but finally, it was their chance to make themselves known. the darkness spread out from the angel’s core to the very tips of his wings. his white-blonde hair faded to deep brown. the city’s soot couldn’t stain his black robes. 

iii. mary wept. oh, what had become of the lord’s favorite son? but the lord had gone long ago, and he was not here to save her from this wreckage. she threw out her crosses. she wondered if the new lord would make space for gardens. 

iv. his people forged him not a crown but a sword. his power was more than a birthright; he bled for it. with his new weapon he invited challengers, but none came. he was a well-loved leader before, and he was a well-loved leader still. the people who stayed in the city were the ones who knew how to respect an iron heart that beat.

v. everything the lord had told them to fear came to be before everyone’s eyes, and yet, they prospered. the fire that ravaged the city years earlier burned inside of them.
