PLA/Submas Fic: Electric Trains are the Future Chapter 19: Whimiscott-al Adventures

Chapter Summary: Elesa and Emmet enjoy breakfast, then the gang discovers the world's first escape room. Chapter Word Count: 5450

THIS WAS POSTED ON AO3 IN APRIL. FUCK. Consider this a warmup for Chapter 20 in a bit.

Elesa has hated waking up in the morning since she was a kid, and even since getting ‘grown up jobs’, she still loathes waking up before 11. It isn’t helped by the fact that all three of her partners are early risers for work, leading various branches of transportation, though Ingo does like to stay in bed late himself when he’s able. So even as the sun peeks into the small house as the morning progresses, Elesa resists the signs of what she should be doing and stays on her little futon.

Surprise Electric Trains Status Update!

No, this is not me saying the next chapter is coming out this week, nor am I ending the story. This chapter is taking awhile - I know that, and I am honestly annoyed about it too. The cause boils down to I have less and less free time compared to when I started the fic!

Since I last posted in April, my work time (40 hours a week) and stream time (8-14 hours a week) have stayed roughly the same, but I have picked up additional projects. Back in April, I was accepted into In Pursuit of Victory, and while I am soooo glad I was in that, I wrote two chapters worth of fic for it, which put Chapter 20 on hold (Together, those were just shy of 8000 words, which is about 90% of what I expect Chapter 20 to be). And after I finished work on it, I was pretty burnt out with writing. I also took 2 vacations since then (a family vacation in July, which was when I finished my second zine piece, and one in September to visit my girlfriend), where very little work got done. I've also been posting my stream VODs to Youtube for the first time, so I spend a lot of time after work or on days off editing and rendering videos, making thumbnails, and recording outros. I also have several D&D games going on, so there are several nights where I just... Can't do anything else. I have also started about 6 WIPs in that time, some ranging from a single paragraph, and others being several pages long.

I plan to get Chapter 20 out by Thanksgiving (Nov. 28th), and will endeavor to have Chapter 21 (hopefully shorter) out by the 2 year anniversary for the fic (Dec. 23rd). I also have a few companion posts to put up for the fic, mostly Elio's Team and I believe Akari's Team. This fic isn't dead, I promise you! I'm just very worn out and taking it slower than I'd like.

And, as a peace offering, have a sneak peek at Chapter 20! (ft. a cameo from Zisu and Wenton)

📇Contributor Spotlights: Writer Sam Leonhart

With two heart-warming tales in store for you all, we are proud to present our writer, @a-land-lacking-sleep!

Here's a little more about them:

Hey there, my name is Sam, and I've been writing fanfic off and on for 20 years! Pokemon is an old love of mine, and while I always struggled with the various Battle Facilities growing up, as an adult I've come to enjoy the challenges within, and the characters that run it. Remember to never give up, never give in, and to always fight on, in pursuit of victory!

I CAN FINALLY SCREAM ABOUT THIS!!! It’s an honor to be a part of this zine, and I have to thank Cardinal, Ev, and Blaidd so much for accepting me and letting me write two whole fics. This is my first time being in a zine, and it’s been an absolute blast!

I can’t tell you what’s in them yet! Just know that I somehow made two stories involving fatherhood. When it’s something I’ve mostly avoided in my other fics. Speaking of, yeah, this is the big reason why Electric Trains has stalled, but I’ll be back to work on it soon!

PLA/Submas Fic: Electric Trains are the Future Chapter 19: Whimsicott-al Adventures

Chapter 17 (Previous) - Current Chapter - Next Chapter

Oh whoops look at that I said the next chapter wouldn't take as long as two months, but it diiiiid. If it's any consolation, this is the third longest chapter in the fic, and has several characters I either didn't have a chance to write for much before, or don't have much plans for later! Part of the reason this took so long is because no only did I apply for In Pursuit of Victory and thus prepare for that in case I get in, but I also spent the last four months studying for and getting my second certification for work. So, despite how tired I am, I'm still going!

Chapter Summary: Elesa and Emmet enjoy breakfast, then the gang discovers the world's first escape room. Chapter Word Count: 5450

As always, read below or over at AO3! Feel free to leave comments or reblog, but never feel obligated (though I do like engagement).

Sadly, I think I’m going to have to abandon Electric Trains. It’s been a good run, but it’s been 4 months and I haven’t written anything. Additionally, I’ve come to hate my writing, and will be deleting my AO3 after work.

APRIL FOOLS!

Next Chapter goes live tomorrow! If I finish my editing tonight. Which I should! It honestly doesn’t need a lot of work. In fact, have a preview!

Electric Trains are the Future Extra: Akari's Team post-PLA

After gaining the Champion spot in the Sinnoh Pokemon League, Hikari Mifune worked to defend it for over 2 years from aspiring challengers, trainers who thought she had won on a fluke, and even the previous Champion. So it came as a heavy surprise when she disappeared suddenly in the fall of 2021, leaving her Pokemon behind.

In the year 1871, Professor Laventon meets with a young girl who claims the name "Akari", and over the course of several months, she forms a team that solidifies her as the Champion of the Almighty Sinnoh.

Ember - The starter that she helped Laventon recapture, Ember has been a constant companion to Akari. Even before her evolution to a Typhlosion, she acted as a mediator of sorts within the team, being the one to remind everyone of their common goals and keeps friendly squabbles friendly. She also has been a major help in keeping Akari calm through her time in the past. As with the next two Pokemon, Ember is named after a challenger that Akari had met as Champion, who was a Fire-type trainer. (In real-life, I purposely stole the name from @waywardstation. She has yet to forgive this transgression)

Skylar - The most Bird that has ever Bird, Skylar was the second Pokemon Akari caught in her time in Hisui. A caring but assertive personality, Skylar is known to perch behind people and preen their hair and clothes to her liking, a habit she's had since being a Starly. As with Ember and Iona, Skylar is named after a challenger during Akari's time as Champion, who had a shiny Staraptor on his team.

Iona - A Gardevoir that Akari had met in the Mirelands fully evolved while having a rough day. The Pokemon had stuck close to her, and worked to make her day easier by removing obstacles, soothing agitated Pokemon, and even helping to calm Akari's mood. Iona has done similarly since, doing her best to help this lost child that she found and befriended. Iona is named after a repeat challenger that Akari got to know outside of the League due to school.

Yama - Oddly for a Snorlax, Yama is notably the runt of his litter. With a shiny blue pelt and 4'3 standing height, Yama is the second shortest on Akari's team. Akari had met him in the Fieldlands taking a nap, and decided to lay down next to him on a whim and napped with him. When the pair awoke, she asked to capture him and he didn't say no. Conscious of his own height issue, Akari decided to name him Yama to remind him that while he may be physically short, he still has the strength of a tall mountain.

Oroshi - If Yama is the world's babiest Snorlax, Oroshi was the world's most monstrous Magikarp, seemingly larger even than other Alphas of the species, with the temperament of a Gyarados before he even evolved. By the time he evolved, though, Akari had worked with him on his temper and he's able to move through Jubilife Village without moving a single person out of his way. Akari decided to name him after a strong downward wind due to his ferocity.

Kuu-chan - Somehow, Kuu-chan is even more of a baby than Yama. Being caught almost the minute Akari arrived in the Mirelands, just like Zeal before him, Kuu-chan decided not to evolve for several months. In his case, he evolved the day that Volo requested to meet Akari on the mountain. Originally, Akari was calling him "Kumaru", a portmanteau of "Kuma" and "-maru", but the longer he stayed a small Teddiursa, the less she called him his full name and more a cutesy nickname, until it finally stuck.

Akari caught plenty of Pokemon outside of these six, but outside of specific needing of research tasks, or the Creation Trio, these six are the Pokemon she carries around with her. Once she returns home, she makes sure to prioritize integrating them into her team and her daily life, giving them the same love as her old family. After all, these too are her precious friends.

Electric Trains are the Future Extra: Hikari's Team (Pre-PLA)

Hikari Mifune became the Champion of the Sinnoh Region at the age of 12, after putting an end to Team Galactic's plot. During this time, she formed a team of Pokemon that she took with her on the journey to defeat the Gyms, and climb Victory Road!

A Trainer Card made at Pokecharms.com. Dawn from Pokemon stands on the left, and her team is on headshots to the right. She has an Empoleon, a Lucario, a Rapidash, a Togekiss, and a Blissey.
ALT

Kingsley - Her Empoleon that she got from Professor Rowan as a Piplup. Though haughty by nature and his own view of being King over the team, Kingsley has stood ardently by Hikari's side and strove for the same victory she did.

Zeal - Hikari had found a Riolu in the streets of Jubilife early in her journey, befriending the young Pokemon and ensuring that it had a family to stay with. Despite the deep bond the two shared, and the sheer amount of the journey that Zeal was there for, he chose not to evolve until they were in Sunyshore City, preparing to take on Volkner.

Filly - She joined Hikari's team in an odd way - Hikari had responded to a plea for help from a person living in Eterna City about the possibility of a wildfire breaking out due to a Pokemon's actions. As a young Ponyta, Filly had far too much energy for what she had to do around her. Other wild Pokemon didn't want to battle her as much as she did, there wasn't enough open area to run, and she simply didn't have any outlet or enrichment. And so, Hikari caught her to prevent the young foal from causing any damage, and she became a strong member of her team.

Sasha - A gift from Bebe in Hearthome, Sasha was a quiet Eevee who was content to lounge in Hikari's bag. Over time, however, Hikari helped the young kit grow out of her shell and connect with the outside world. Though still quiet and an enjoyer of secluded spaces, Sasha's bond with her trainer helped her evolve into a Sylveon.

Sheldon - In Eterna City, Hikari was gifted an egg by Cynthia after she freed the Bike Shop owner. While the egg didn't hatch until Solaceon, Hikari integrated the young Pokemon into her team immediately, to help nurture and train him. Unknown to her, Cynthia had a Togekiss on her own team, which led to a spirited rivalry between the two Pokemon when they met.

Obachan - No family is set without a helicopter parent, and that is what Hikari's team gained when she caught a Chansey outside of Solaceon Town. Hikari has taken a tumble down a muddy slope, and Obachan ran up to heal her bloodied knee. Intent on keeping this obviously clumsy child safe, Obachan rooted through Hikari's bag and put herself into the first Pokeball she could find.

It was this found family of a team that helped Hikari surpass the greatest trainer in the region, take down a villainous Team intent of resetting the world, and navigate the responsibility that comes with those achievements. While they do not follow Hikari to Hisui, she cherishes them deeply and makes sure that everyone in both teams can get used to each other.

PLA Fic: A New Home - Chapter 1: Prelude Beach

Here's the fic I promised you back in June, lul. I had about half of it written back then, but I just finished the second half of it today. This was originally going to be a really long one-shot, then a 3 chapter fic, and now who knows. Not me. I hope it's just 4, but it could be 6!

While this story is connected to my Electric Trains series of fics, it is also made as a stand alone! I hope you all enjoy.

Chapter Summary: Jubilife is established, and The Diamond Clan makes themselves known. Chapter Word Count: 4440

As always, read below or on AO3! Comments and reblogs always enjoyed!

September 30th, 1869

The name came from one of his more optimistic captains, Zisu Perilia of the Security Corp. Another victim of the war that Johto had endured with Kanto during the Imperial Unification, though thankfully a tad too young to endure many of the battles personally. Unlike Denboku, who had tempered his mettle with blade and tactics on the field of battle, where he watched both men and Pokemon bleed out their last.

Happy Anniversary Pokemon Legends Arceus!

PLA was a game that I had some of the most fun with since Generation 5, playing with the formula and the story style of the series in a way that I sincerely want them to make a constant.

In celebration, I'm working on a fic that I promised months ago and hope to get it out to you all tonight (chapter 1 is like, 5 pages in already, so it's possible). The first chapter of A New Home, now with a preview!

Electric Trains Chapter 18 Outline

I wrote the first two paragraphs of this chapter at the end of Chapter 17, then wrote Novembmas Snippets for a month and didn't touch this at all. All in all, I basically kept to the outline and simply embellished from there, there weren't really any major deviations. I edited the Blorbo joke slightly, and leaned into Kamado's accent slipping when he's flat-footed, mostly because I've been playing a lot of Yakuza/LAD recently and I felt another good way of showing how overly formal Kamado can be was the use of "-san/-han" as an honorific (and let me play with Emmet being half-Johtoan).

Oh, except for Akari's Team! That wasn't in the outline and I showed them all in this chapter! I already showed Ember the Typhlosion, Iona the Gardevoir, and Skylar the Staraptor in previous chapters, and had them in the outline elsewhere. But now I've also shown Yama the shiny Snorlax, Oroshi the Alpha Gyrados, and Kuu-chan the Ursaring! I'll probably do a different post down the line to go in-depth on her team, probably after I finalize her Sinnoh-era team.

The next chapter is 19... Except it's not. I have two Chapter 19s in my outline, because I had to fill in a chapter to make sure I hit 25, since I messed up my outline. So next chapter is a breather, with a different focus than usual! A break from Ingo being hurt, from the drive to find family, and from Akari being a gremlin. I hear a certain red head will be joining the group...

Electric Trains Chapter 17 Outline

Back to the actual chapter count! For now... You may remember my post from a few months ago about miscounting chapters.

But this is the reunion! The reunion ass reunion, not the fake out from the chapter before! I had always seen the reunion in my head not as a big momentous event that is the climax (which is a valid way to write it, I certainly still love those scenes!), but instead essentially like the two of them coming off of separate trains and celebrating the timing of getting to meet up between their lines. It's exciting, it's goofy, and it's just two brother's being brothers, while still being emotional. The people that I showed it before the chapter went up all were happy with it, so I'm glad I went that route.

I added the talk about the coffee shops because I found out about a place called "Third Rail Coffee" in New York, and even incorporated it's closure into the fic (I'll post the accompanying picture at the bottom). It also gave me a reason to move Akari and Elesa from the scene, and then expand on the talk between Emmet, Elio, and Ingo. Said expansion also gave a much better transition into the closing of the chapter instead of Ingo just... Getting angry and passing out. Now he's irritated, but goes back to sleep naturally.

Overall, I really enjoyed this chapter! The talks between Ingo and Emmet and then Ingo and Elio were fun, and the subtle threats of Pesselle were good.

And, of course, the Third Rail Coffee closure! RIP Third Rail East Village, I never would've visited but the environmental storytelling is primo.

Electric Trains Chapter 16 Outline

Wow, this chapter came out back in August and I forgot to post this? That's bad.

So, as with Chapter 15, the first thing to note is that I swapped 15 and 16. As I said, it was a better play to get them in that order, so that they actually flow a bit better narratively. After such a emotional chapter, going straight into this, where the emotions are still running, if not muted, would've been a bit rushed and sluggish.

On to the actual chapter though, the first chunk of the chapter is relatively unchanged, which... Was good and bad for me. I had trouble actually writing the entire interaction between everyone, and it majorly contributed to me getting hit with burnout and slowing down in general (the reason for it now is I think health issues? We're looking into it). Once we got off of the mountain top, I ended up expanding the scene with Melli because it was genuinely so funny to imply that he is banned from Jubilife, and then cut down on the rest of the talk.

Overall, a somewhat messy chapter and sparse outline. The next outline is also a little sparse, but I enjoyed the chapter SO MUCH MORE. The outlines will be up either later tonight or the next two days.

Submas/PLA Fic: Electric Trains are the Future Ch. 18 - I am Emmet. Thank you for your hospitality.

Happy 1 Year Anniversary to Electric Trains are the Future! I decided to celebrate by giving you readers a FUCKING DOOZY of a chapter (size wise, it's fairly chill). Despite taking over two months, this fic is still going, and we should have it done before the next anniversary!

Chapter Summary: Kamado has a talk with the travelers in his village, then Emmet tours Jubilife. Chapter Warnings: Emmet begins to have a breakdown about 3/4 of the way through the chapter, though it doesn't hit until closer to the end. Chapter Word Count: 6175

Please, read either below or over on AO3 where I ramble! Reblogs and comments are appreciated, but never required.

This Galaxy Building was muuuch better than the one Emmet had visited in Eterna City. It had calmer and more neutral colors, and the use of real wood added a relaxing touch to the entire atmosphere that was lacking in that spike-covered office building in the present. Future. Whenever.

Day 30 (Alt): New Friends

It had started fairly simply as a conversation about rock climbing on Chatotter, with Ingo and Grant both talking about their experiences free-climbing and the various views they’ve seen. The two discussed climbing techniques, height records, particularly dangerous climbs that they pushed through. Finally, Grant brought up what had been on Ingo’s mind - Lets Climb Together.

And so Ingo and Emmet found themselves out on the coast of Kalos, in Cyllage City, looking down from the cliff top road down onto the town. “This is beautiful,” Ingo says in an airy tone. “I would climb these mountains daily for this view alone.”

“I am Emmet. That seems like a lot of work,” Emmet says, looking down at the city. There were roads and stairs that lead up to where the pair were standing, but to go any higher would either require a Pokémon or climbing gear to scale the mountain. “This view is enough, and we did work for it.”

“Yes, but it was all leg work. Not really that satisfying or helpful in getting my heart pumping,” Ingo says as he looks down the road to the little Sneasel that was running towards the two. “Return to station, Young Lady!”

“My blood got pumping,” Emmet mutters as he begins moving back to the stairs. “I am Emmet, and I want to be on time. Come along, brother!”

“Coming!” As Young Lady scampers up onto Ingo’s back, the pair of twins begin to descend the stairs towards Cyllage’s city center, chatting about the variety of Pokemon that they had seen in the cavern the day before, and whether any would make for good additions to their teams. The entire journey, Young Lady swoops around Ingo like he’s a stationary pole, using him for her own entertainment.

Finally, the pair arrive at the Gym, where a young man stands outside, gemstones woven into his hair. “Ah, Ingo!” He calls out, waving towards the pair as they approach. “I’m glad the both of you could make it! Come on in!” He quickly opens the doors, and ushers the two in.

“I’m glad we could make it, Grant! I wouldn’t want to mi-” Ingo pauses mid-sentence, and he, Emmet, and Young Lady all look around at the gym in awe. It was modeled like the inside of a cavern, with stone walls and ceilings, and a large waterfall cascading down in the back into the retention section below. Ingo, and especially Young Lady, were immediately pulled back to their time in Hisui at the sight and sound, and it didn’t surprise either twin when the Sneasel leapt from Ingo’s shoulder and ran to the nearest wall.

“I am Emmet. This is beautiful,” Emmet says softly as he looks around. “The logistics of this must be outstanding. How does the waterfall work?”

“I’m glad you asked, it’s actually really fascinating!” Grant leads Emmet over to the railing, and they both look down, Emmet putting his hand on his flat cap to hold it in place. “There are actually grates down there, so it is drains into a reservoir down below, and then pumped back to the top over the course of the day.”

“Interesting,” Emmet says as he nods, tapping his chin. “How frequently do you clean the reservoirs, to keep the water clean?”

“We have pumice and basalt filters, and every Tuesday w-”

While the two talk about the water system, Ingo finds himself staring up at the rock wall that Young Lady had scaled. “Now, Lady, your mother may have stayed home with Elesa, but that doesn’t mean that you should go leaping across cliff faces!” High above, the Sneasel audibly blows him a razzberry and begins to scurry a little higher.

Huffing, Ingo takes off his coat and hat, laying them on the bench nearby as he judges the surroundings. The ground is padded, which is good since most of Grant’s challengers wouldn’t have any experience climbing, and while there are easy climbing spots like at any climbing park, Young Lady had decided to climb on the more natural rock face. That sort of rock face wasn’t unfamiliar to Ingo, and since it wasn’t naturally formed, some places were a little smooth.

Ingo starts on the recreational climbing wall, making his way about 15 feet before transitioning onto the actual stone. Finding the first few handholds was pretty easy, and in fact Ingo suspected that there were some more natural handholds purposely carved in for more experienced climbers like him. That would explain why so much of it felt like the perfect spacing for a climber. Slowly but surely, Ingo was catching up to Young Ladyc and in just a few minutes, he snags her off the wall. “Come with me, you little fare dodger,” he says with a laugh as she squirms.

By this point, Ingo is several yards from the nearest recreational wall, and so he sets Young Lady on his back and begins moving back to it. “Now, I get that climbing is fun, but we need to keep on the tracks,” he says calmly as they move to the artificial handholds. “You can’t just go leaping around in unfamiliar cliff faces!”

“Snea!” Young Lady whaps the top of Ingo’s head to show her displeasure. “Snea sneas!”

“I understand you aren’t happy being babysat, but it’s what your mother wan-” Ingo had to quickly stop what he was saying as Young Lady began to turn around on his back and prepare to launch away. “Safety checks, Lady! Cool your engines!”

On impulse, Ingo turns to grab at Young Lady as she disengages from him. He successfully snags her out of the air, but unfortunately his footing was now unsteady. Looking down, he sees that he’s about 20 feet above the mat, and holds Young Lady to his chest. “Mayday!”

At this, Emmet and Grant begin bolting in his direction as Ingo twists to his side, leaning slightly forward to the ground. His impact is swift arriving as he feels his arm smack into the padded floor, he and his passenger bouncing slightly before he rolls onto his back and groans.

“I am Emmet!” Emmet sternly speaks as he stands over Ingo. “What were you doing? It’s not like you to fall!”

Ingo groans again, before holding up a rattled Young Lady, who simply squeaks as she is displayed. “She jumped the turnstile. I saved her life.”

“She would’ve been fine, Ingo,” Grant says, grasping the arm that Ingo didn’t land on to help him up. “Now let’s get you looked at. That wasn’t a large fall, but it wasn’t nothing either.”

“It was barely a tumble,” Ingo tries to say to defend himself as he sets Young Lady down, who promptly clings to Emmet’s leg. “I’ve fallen from further!”

“And broke your leg.”

“There is no need to tell my climbing buddy I broke my leg falling down a cliff in Sinnoh!” Ingo shoots back at his brother while Grant laughs.

Day 22: Gym

Opelucid was the former seat of power for the old kingdom of Unova, and the gym still is headed by descendents of the royal line, even if it is now several times removed. It was this knowledge that stood front and center in Ingo and Emmet’s minds. This wasn’t just their final gym to challenge.

This may be their future legacy.

Day 20: Pride

It was rare that the Subway Bosses and the Assistant Subway Bosses would gather for more than paperwork, mostly because Hilda and Rosa were tasked with covering the train lines when either Ingo or Emmet couldn’t be there, and they would eat their lunches outside of the station most days.

What was even rarer is that while the quartet were in uniform, they weren’t in their normal colors. Emmet was wearing Ingo’s black hat, and a coat that had alternating silver and white stripe and purple pants and shoes. Ingo was wearing a sky blue hat with a light red and gold coat and purple pants, definitely not bought as a pack alongside Emmet’s. Rosa and Hilda, meanwhile, were fully matching with pink stripes on the coat, a muted purple for the shirt, and navy blue for the pants.

Emmet was the first to break the silence. “I am Emmet. We look like we had preschoolers color us in.” Rosa immediately doubles over in laughter as she starts nodding in agreement, and Ingo and Hilda both sigh and shake their heads.

“You were the one saying that the flags were too heavy last year, Boss,” Hilda says before Ingo can say anything. “It’s either this, or wear a pin, and you were the one who said to be loud and proud.”

“I am Emmet. I am proud to be asexual,” Emmet says with a nod. “I also look like a coloring book right now.”

“I rather like how the coat looks,” Ingo says , running his hands down his coat front. “I agree the colors are a tad ostentatious, but they are our pride colors. And Elesa did good work on making them.”

Rosa leans over to Ingo at the mention of the man’s partner. “Speaking of Elesa, where is she? She’s the MC for the parade, and it starts here, right?”

Ingo nods, and glances over at Hilda for her to explain. With a quick thumbs up, the younger Subway Boss picks up the thread. “She’s with Isadore and Cloud making sure that the stands are set. It’s not sunny, but we also want to make sure people are kept out of any potential rain.”

Emmet starts walking to the door before Hilda had even finished talking. “Follow the rules. Safe driving! Follow the schedule. Everybody smile! Check safety. Aim for victory!”

Rosa quickly follows after him, turning to wave at the two remaining. “I’m going to go help get it all set up! See ya in a bit!”

As both of the Doubles Bosses leave the office, Ingo and Hilda look toward each other. “Hilda, I believe your girlfriend shared a brain cell with my brother.”

“You’re way too correct there, Boss,” Hilda says with a slump.

Day 16: Trade

(Use AO3 to finish your collection!)

League Cards are the talk of any schoolyard you go to in Unova, with common cards like the current run of Gym Leaders all the way to rare cards such as Alder’s original run from the 70s when he was a Gym Leader himself. And so, when the company in charge, Topz, announced that they would begin to branch out from doing just the Unovan League, but also their other battle “celebrities”, such as several of the movie stars in Pokestars, and the Battle Facility heads.

And as such, Ingo and Emmet were immediately contacted to have cards of them made. At first, there was only going to be cards for the two of them individually, but Topz eventually decided to do an ultra rare of the two of them together. And from there, an entire series was created to cover the entire Battle Subway regulars, from Agents like Cloud and Ramses down to well-known challengers like Hilda and Rosa.

And now fans of the Subway Boss have new merchandise, and the Subway Bosses themselves have a new pastime - Collecting their entire workforce in card form.

“Bravo!” Ingo shouts, clapping his hands together after recalling Wurl, his Excadrill, back to his Pokeball as his opponent finishes her celebration. “Your talent has led you to the destination called Victory! However, your journey has just started. When you choose your next destination, go full speed ahead!"

“Thank you, Mr. Ingo!” The trainer nearly shouts, scooping up her Tirtouga as she runs across the train towards him. “I finally did it! I’ve been training for 3 months to beat you!”

“Really?” Ingo says, his eyebrows shooting up under the brim of his hat. “That’s impressive! You’ve worked your engine hard!” As the girl nods her head enthusiastically, he brings a hand to his chin in thought. “I believe that you deserve an extra reward, then.”

Ingo reaches into his pocket, and pulls out a sleeved League Card. “I’m looking for either a Subway Boss Hilda or a Subway Leader Isadore. They released while I was gone, after all.” The girl’s eyes widen in understanding as Ingo flips the card - Warden Boss Ingo is emblazoned at the top, with Ingo wearing his patchwork coat that he had returned in with Sneasler posed behind him. A card only Ingo could hand out for now, one of the rarest in circulation.

“I have Isadore!!!” The girl shouts, quickly setting Tirtouga on the ground so she can look through her bag. “I need that card, it’s my last one to get in your collection!”

“Perfect, then!” Ingo says with a booming laugh as she pulls out the Subway Leader Isadore card to hand over to complete their trade.
