Apart from how OOC everyone is in here, that line is for me is the most evident hint that this clip is a nightmare sequence.
Just look at how surprised John is, it’s like he was dreaming with going on a case with Sherlock (nice to confirm he dreams with him on a daily basis), enjoying the thrill of the chase, perfectly happy even with the dog, until suddenly Mary interrupts by tagging along and strapping the Plot Device Baby to his chest, turning this into a nightmare. He will try to keep it up but he’s gonna wake up realizing this life is no longer compatible with the cases.
Like I said, I think they’re gonna go reductio ad absurdum again. Just like in TEH with Anderson’s hetero-ridden theory.
A baby is not compatible with this show.

Have you seen the new clip? I'm sorry but this can't be real?! It looks like some very bad nightmare by John. If it is real, I might skip this whole series. I cannot put into words how wrong this scene feels. On SO MANY LEVELS... :/ Mary as a substitute for John? And John just stays behind? Mary and Sherlock decide if he can come with them? Really? Right! OMG, she was the most horrible! Just so blatantly cruel to John. Sherlock was being a pretty big dick too, imo. But yeah, Mary is John’s wife, and she wasn’t acting very ‘wifely’ and John was already begging for divorce. Lol.

LIke, I’m dead serious. When we saw them film this there was conjecture that it was a dream sequence because of how overacted it was, and also because they used a doggie cam (camera strapped to the dog’s head) at one point. Here Mary is actually drawing parallels between John and the dog, and John feels like Mary and Sherlock are pushing him out, and he feels completely rejected. 100% this is a nightmare John is having.
After the horrific confrontation in Baker Street (“you two should have gotten married.”)…
I can not handle this.

Definitely agree with @sussexbound. Yes. This doesn’t make me anxious at all, but rather confirms the suspicion that this scene that was filmed in the open was bullshit. Either this, or John and Sherlock are playing along and pretending to catch her later.
It’s heightening all of John’s worst fears. It’s like a window into his soul, and it’s heartbreaking. I would put a million dollars on this being a nightmare John is having. That is how sure I am.
