Moriarty & Sherlock reunited!
Here’s the first (non commercial) trailer for Andrew Scott’s upcoming movie, Steel Country. (x)
JESSICA BROWN FINDLAY IS GOING TO BE OPHELIA IN ANDREW’S HAMLET I AM LITERALLY IN TEARS
If we weren’t sure before, we are now. Moriarty is back. (From the Sunday times, 18th December 2016)
We already knew this from setlock, though. There were photos widely circulated in the press at the time of shooting. The question outstanding is - in what capacity is he returning? Real time, flashbacks, mind palace? Andrew was in Season 3 and TAB as Moriarty, too, but it was all mind palace.

HOLMES FOR THE HOLIDAYS
Sherlock is back this New Year - but don’t expect merry times just because Moriarty is gone
Sherlock’s fourth series starts with a great big hole in it. A Moriarty-shaped one. Sherlock’s (Benedict Cumberbatch) long-time nemesis has definitely gone. “Moriarty is dead,” says series co-creator Steven Moffat. “Shot himself through the head. He is dead.” But that means Sherlock needs someone new to rattle the walls of his mind palace. On the set of Sherlock, on a dark and (artificially) rainy night, that new villain is nowhere in sight. But somewhere lurks Toby Jones’ Culverton Smith, who Moffat calls “the darkest villain we’ve ever written”.
In print, Smith was a poisoner who killed his nephew and tried to bump off Holmes. In the TV series he’s a quiet character, at least on the surface. “He’s very unnerving,” says Moffat. “I hope Toby won’t mind me saying, but he’s a little man, yet he’s weirdly a physical threat. He exudes an enormous amount of menace.” His co-creator Mark Gatiss adds, “He’s also extremely funny. The switch between the two can be terrifying.”
The latest three-episode series also introduces a new, very small, member of the cast: a baby for John (Martin Freeman) and Mary Watson (Amanda Abbington). “It inevitably changes the relationship between John and Sherlock,” says Freeman. “For John, as you’d imagine, there can be nobody more important than his wife and child.” Sherlock’s reaction to this new entrant is, says Cumberbatch, “mild indifference”.
Though nobody expects this to be the last of Sherlock Holmes, this series will, Cumberbatch says, “deliver an enormous number of pay-offs”. And they won’t all be happy. Though the new baby brings joy, it won’t last. “This is about as tough a journey as John and Sherlock go on,” says Moffat. “We’re taking them to hell and back this time.”

Andrew Scott was an absolute sweetheart! He was so lovely and thankful of the support from all of the fans there, and I truly enjoyed his talk.
Here’s a list of some of the things he talked about:
- He talked a lot about getting into the “playful” side of Moriarty. - One of the funniest set stories was when he and Ben were filming the IOU scene, and during one take he said IOU in a robot voice and Ben just looked at him like “what the fuck.” - He talked for at least a minute about how much he appreciates fandom as a source of great creativity. He got very enthusiastic applause for that. - I can’t remember the quote exactly, but a drama student asked him how he deals with nerves, and he said he deals with it by telling himself, “Don’t worry about nerves, because one day I’m going to die.” Freaking great. - He talked about how much he loved working on Pride and how important it was to him. - He doesn’t think Moriarty would want Sherlock to join forces with him because that would end the game. He thinks Moriarty is obsessed with Sherlock and the game. - He sees Moriarty as a very solitary man with no friends.
Okay, so not only is Amanda reblogging the Moriarty setlock pictures, but the pictures are also appearing on Facebook.
Since when do pictures like this get thrown out in the open like this? This is my third setlock, I know my way around the rodeo, and let me tell you; something fishy is going on…
Curiouser and curiouser…
If this is a red herring, then it’s a damn expensive one.
All this means is that the possible return of Moriarty is:
- Likely to appeal to the general audience.
- Good promo for the upcoming season (due to point #1).
- Not something they deem important enough to keep secret.
- Thus, not likely to be the main reveal of the episode or season*.
*thank god

You’d think that the world’s greatest consulting criminal could afford a new suit after all these years, no?
Andrew Scott on set of Sherlock IV?!
Lol, this was on Mark Gatiss’ Instagram.
Are they at Martin’s house?
This is from October 2012, just FYI.
