I finally snagged one of these original 1996 The Maxx figures. Back in the day, I wanted one, but never found one in my city. 28 years later, here he is nestled in with my other original 90s McFarlane figures.
And, yes, Spawn III's eyes still light up.
Did you know...
that Todd Mcfarlane's daughter, Cyan McFarlane, has a bit part as a party guest in Spawn (1997)? The Spawn creator's eldest daughter is the namesake for Cyan Fitzgerald, who is featured in the comics, cartoon, and aforementioned film. She appears during the birthday party scene.
Not only did Todd name check his daughter in his comics, but he also used his wife's name for Spawn/Al Simmons' girlfriend, Wanda.
Alright, Mr. Mcfarlane, you have my attention.

Al Simmons /Spawn's dog Spaz, was named after the film's visual effects supervisor Steve 'Spaz' Williams.
Here's a shot of KNB EFX team members, Ted Haines (left) and Henrik Van Ryzin (right), modeling two different Spawn costumes for the 97' film. Obviously, they ended up going with the organic looking one on Haines, but Ryzin's costume looks like it would have been more comic book accurate.
