Just a reminder that if you're really taken with a shelter pet but can't adopt them for whatever reason, you can ask the shelter if you can pay for their adoption fee (or part of it). It might help them find a home! The adoption fee covers the cost of what the shelter had to pay to give them their shots and fix the animal. You're helping the shelter, the kitty, and their new family :) "A nice man" paid $25 towards all of the kitties in this PetSmart and it made me smile a lot :')

Whoa, so my little kitty comic  has over 100K notes?

I've been going through and reading the reblogs that included stories of people adopting less-adoptable pets and .... I don't even know what to say. It's amazing to see so many people that are also willing to give a "different" pet a chance. Really, some of them made me cry. When people started sending me messages and reblogging that the comic had changed their perspective on adopting pets, I was overwhelmed. Thank you so much for taking the time to read my little comic. No one can save all the cats, so the next best thing you can do is spread awareness and encourage people to think differently.

This is my Teddy. He wakes me up with purrs every morning, is waiting at the door with his tail in the air when I get home every time, and follows me around and tries to 'help' with whatever I'm doing. He is always happy. Everything is new and exciting for him. He's not afraid of anything, even vacuums. If there is one thing in the world that will always cheer me up, it's my little Teddy Bear.

I adopted him from a rescue group that pulled him from an animal hoard. He has a neurological condition called Cerebellar Hypoplasia, and asthma. His neurological condition is similar to cerebral palsy in humans. He has a mild case, and is able to get around on his own. He wobbles and occasionally falls. He gets an inhaler dose every day before dinner, and we go for acupuncture every 6 weeks to help control the asthma.

if I didn't have Teddy I would have a lot more money (buying an inhaler without insurance sucks) but literally nothing on earth makes me happier than hugging my little purring wobble kitty <3

So, that's one of my cats' stories, thank you to everyone that shared their stories too, I loved reading them :'D

This was meant to be a quick warm up, but it turned into a comic that I've wanted to draw for a while. This is something that is extremely important to me, and I appreciate it if you read it.

A while ago, I heard a story that broke my heart. A family went a cat shelter to adopt. The daughter fell in love with a 3-legged cat. The father straight up said "absolutely not". Because he was missing a leg. That cat was that close to having a family that loved him, but the missing leg held him back. Why?!

Many people have the initial instinct of "nope" when they see an imperfect animal. I get it, but less-adoptable does NOT mean less loveable. 9 out of 10 people will choose a kitten over an adult cat. And those 10% that would get an adult cat often overlook "different" animals.

All I want people to do is be open to the idea of having a "different" pet in their lives. Choose the pet that you fall in love with, but at least give all of them a fair shot at winning your heart.

Don't dismiss them, they deserve a loving home just as much as any other cat. They still purr, they still love a warm lap, they still play, they still love you. Trust me, next time you are in the market for a new kitty, just go over to that one cat that's missing an eye and see what he's all about!
