Sometimes... the day just ends.

Since I've run headlong into the CM fandom once again I've made this sideblog for all my CM and especially SSA Hotchner needs. Blog name inspired by Much_depressed's fic Found Family. My main blog is unionjackpillow.

What is up with this recent tendency in the fandom character tags to mention everyone in the cast even though the post is literally just some tepid-ass take on one character or some unrelated ship.

Like - y'all.

Tumblr has no algorithm and does not work like Instagram and TikTok- tagging every character under the sun unless they're relevant to the post will not get you more reach or numbers or follows or whatever else.

It will, however, have your post show up for folks who don't want to see it (and even have a specific tag blocked) at which point they will become annoyed and block your account at best, or report your account as a potential spambot at worst.

Ffs. Keep that TikTok-ass algorithm pandering out of sites that literally are not built that way, and require you to do the 'heavy lifting' i.e. building your mutuals and followers from ground up + doing your own research and curating your own timeline to reflect it.

Finished “Elephant’s Memory” and want Hotch to put Reid on report as usual. But that aside, fascinated by the offscreen Hotch and Morgan interactions.

Hotch sends Reid to Morgan after Reid is clearly over identifying with the unsub. He calls Morgan before Reid gets there to update him on what’s happened. (He has to, for Morgan to know to approach Reid about it in the room.) “Reid empathizes with this boy,” he probably says, doesn’t add Fix it, or Reorient that empathy, or I need you to play good cop on this one because I have to hold the line. He probably doesn’t say any of that because it’s Morgan and so Hotch says, “I sent him to help profile the room,” and Morgan says, “Got it,” and flips the phone shut and knows exactly what he’s supposed to do.

So Morgan does what Hotch didn’t have to say: he plays the good cop, he lets Reid talk, primes him with a story, because Reid’s always been eager to have Morgan’s vulnerabilities parallel his own.

He doesn’t lie. Not exactly. Morgan prefers to shut conversations down, lies only when he feels like he’s run out of other options and wants to spare someone more grief. He was a small kid. He was thin. Bulking up was a matter of survival. All that’s true.

Watching 3x02 again with my Hotchgan goggles, and would just like to reiterate how insane it is that Hotch and his wife argue about him quitting, the home phone rings, Haley's cellphone immediately rings, and then she walks off with her purse with the cellphone, and Hotch starts dialing the house phone.

For those of you old enough to recall, one would assume he's dialing *69 to call the more than mildly incriminating number that just called.

But no. This man argues with his wife, listens to the peal of evidence that she is cheating on him, and what does he do? He picks up the phone and calls Morgan.

Incredible.

Hotch and Morgan got me like girrrlll

Mayhem: 4x01

"Hotch! You're opinion matters to me."

"My life matters to me, and I have and always will entrust you with it...Would you do the same for me?"

~silence~

I have so many thoughts about this.

  1. It addresses Morgan's trust issues and weird "my life doesn't matter that much"/"Hero"/"Big Sibling Syndrome -esque" complex.
  2. Demonstrates how close the two are (worked together for YEARS now so makes sense.)
  3. Shows how Hotch trusts him with such ease.
  4. And the fact he is asking not for Morgan to save him but to let him save Morgan. To try to trust him. Something about the latter is so much more intimate and intense than the former.
  5. I love interpersonal relationships!!!!! This show makes me very happy. I love to study people and relationships and how we interpt (often through writing) people and relationships.
  6. Sorry if I read to much into this lol. I'm a lit nerd and my fav thing is to read into things.

Love, Cassie

Happy Birthday Hotch pt2 - the Hotchgan version. When I have time to finish it, the fic version of this is happening. It's so much vibes and so little plot. November is cold and Derek isn't a fan so he books them a week long stay in Florida - sleeping in luxury in Boca, sailing on the ocean, golfing and eating and dancing and having all the sex they could ever want and there isn't a single serial killer that can ruin this good time.

Happy Birthday Hotch!

I haven't had any time to write, so while I have a birthday fic idea, it'll have to wait. Instead I have a couple of moodboards I've prepared for today - starting off with empty nest retired Hotch enjoying his day of peace and quiet. (He started the day with a call from Jessica singing him 'happy birthday' as loud and off-key as she could manage and he'll end the day with a video call from Jack at university.)

The perfect way to ring in the last year of his 50s.

Thinking about how Hotch almost certainly has The best monologues in the entire show. From “my team? Let me tell you about my team.” To “When im home, it’s like im in this silent panic” to “at your core, you’re a coward” to “sometimes the day just… ends” Hotch has some of the most moving monologues in the entire series and i think its so interesting when you think about how quiet he is normally, he’s so reserved and usually his sentences are clipped and direct, more like orders than monologues, and yet on the other side he has an almost theatric delivery to his monologues that makes it so captivating to listen to, makes you hang on every word. He’s so eloquent and concise, every word he says is so intentionally chosen, and it really lands when you’re watching the show. His monologues will always be the ones that stick out to me the most as some of the best line deliveries in the entire series
