Year 2160

“Doc!” Spider grinned happily when he spotted you.

The lab Norm and Max had set up was spacious enough for you to enter. And it was a little strange being the tallest one in the room for the first time. Though you were never really that short in your former body, it was still a startling contrast.

the less i know the better.

this indicates a flashback. pervious || next

the long walk back home was less than pleasant. all you could do was cry. cry and cry until you had no more tears left to give. jake wanted nothing more than to comfort you but he knew it would only make things worse. he tensed up at your cries, cringing slightly. god, he truly is the worst father in the world.

when you got back, you were quick to bolt to your corner, ignoring the gazes of your siblings and mother. you had nothing to say to them, just when life was starting to favor you, it was snatched right from under you. it wasn't fair. why do they all of a sudden care now? it took you dying for them to care about you? why didn't they want to see you happy?

jake and neytiri said nothing as they exchanged pitiful looks with each other, they were going to try and make things right. keyword try. they knew you hated them especially for this, and they understood why, they've been the world's worst parents.

tuktirey was smart for her age, and she knew something was wrong with you when you came back grim-faced. she was excited you were home, but you didn't look happy. of course, her being her, she crept by your side and laid down next to you, giving you a big hug, smushing her cheek against yours, giggling out a small 'i'm happy you're home..' you said nothing as you faintly hugged your little sister back but couldn't turn to face your family, it was too painful. you felt betrayed.

the next few days were grim and cloudy for you. each family member tried at least once to get you to smile but to no avail. you sat during breakfast with you head facing your lap. you didn't even touch your bow and arrow when jake took you all hunting. it's like you were a doll. a lifeless doll with no hint of glimmer and life in its eyes. neteyam and kiri pitied you. they were so glad you were home but knew you didn't come willingly.

neytiri had spent all of her time with you, attempting to right her wrongs. she taught you how to carve your own bow, and she even added new beads to your songcord for you. her small smile faltered as you set it down, walking away from it, leaving her in the cold and empty mauri.

you tried to avoid ao'nung and tsireya the best you could. for some reason, you felt embarrassed. the siblings tried their best to be there for you, but you wouldn't let them, walking away every time one of them tried to come close to you.

ronal and tonowari felt for you as well. the day you left she wept like she had lost her own. she would miss you, but she knew jake truly had the heart to make things right with you.

it was early in the morning when jake stopped by the family's hut, requesting to talk with ronal and tonowari together. the metkayina woman was hesitant, the rage she felt for jake sully almost bubbling over as she sat next to her mate.

'i would like to bring (y/n) home..please. and before you say no, please just hear me out' tonowari squinted as he ushed jake to continue, holding ronals hand tightly as he looked at her, giving her a look that said 'just let him talk' the metkayina woman nodded before looking back to jake. 'continue.'

' we miss them.. and i know theres no action or word that can undo the damage my family and i have bestowed upon this child' he turned to look at you on the shore. you resembled him so much. tears brimmed in his eyes as he looked back at the pair. 'neytiri cannot sleep at night...she is worried about her child..so please let me ease my wifes mind, even if its just a liitle bit..' he looked to ronal, a pleading look to his face. ' ronal..if it was ao'nung or even tsireya..would you want that pain?' ronal sighed, she wouldn't. she looked at the look in his eyes before nodding ' you may take them home.. but only if you make things right.'

night fell against awa'atlu, people buzzing around as it was dinner time. you were with your family a little far away but still a bit close, silent as usual. you were playing with your fingers when the orange of the fire was replaced by a dark shadow, you looked up and it was rotxo. 'oh hi' your voice was hoarse, that being the first time you'd spoken in days. ' i heard what happened, are you alright?' he sat down next to you, taking his four-fingered hand into your five-fingered hand lightly.

he'd always thought that was a cute feature. he thought everything about you was cute. the way you would scrunch your nose up when you were confused, the way you would always have to explain what 'eyebrows' were to him since he just couldn't seem to grasp the concept even when ao'nung teased him about it. he loved all of it about you. he didn't realize it but he was staring at you, hard. you snapped your fingers in front of his face before letting out a small giggle, the noise like music to his ears.

after dinner you stayed back with rotxo and helped clean up. your family was hesitant with leaving you alone, but they were shocked to hear you say that you were fine. and with that, they left.

soon enough you and rotxo were standing up by the fire. he thought you were the most beautiful person in the whole world at that moment. you were in the middle of a story when rotxo cut you off. '(y/n) you're..you're so special to me.' you were shocked and startled a tad, your face turning dark indigo.

you were silent, you didn't know what to say. with all that was going on you didn't have the time to process your feelings for the metkayina boy. the silence was broken with a sentence that would change your life forever.

'i see you (y/n)..'

PICK YOUR SIDE (rewrite)
includes : fem!reader. cursing. implied death. older sister!reader. younger sister!reader. reader is older than lo’ak but younger than neteyam. angst. read with caution (?). i’m leaving this on a cliffhanger.

they say a picture is worth a thousand words. you beg to differ. the smiles of your family members made your mouth go sour. who knew it would go so wrong so quickly.

your fingers trailed over the family photo in your hand, stopping over neteyam’s face. he was such a bright soul, he must’ve been so scared.

it’s been a few years since neteyam had passed. there to be exact. the family went somewhat back to normal but the home you all once shared felt more dull and dim than normal.

you all left neteyam’s things untouched. his bow still in the same place. his pillow positioned in the same way. you all just couldn’t move it, feeling like you were slowly removing parts of neteyam by touching his things.

your family all grieved him in different ways. some ways were healthy and some were questionable. but you didn’t feel the need to bring it up. you were dealing with your own feelings. you felt hurt, betrayed, guilty and most of all, angry. your anger was a force to be reckoned with per-say. you did a good job at hiding it, pushing it down for 3 years straight.

your father experienced the most change out of all of you. becoming more protective of the rest of you all, never wanting to experience that kind of loss ever again. so when quartich and the rda came back, he immediately shut down the idea of helping them fight.

‘but father please i-‘ ‘y/n that’s final. you will stay here with lo’ak and tuk.’ yet again your father dismissed you, your mother flashing you a pitiful expression as she followed your father.

it wasn’t fair. you deserved just as much as a chance as they did. you could help them. you could avenge your brothers death. neteyam didn’t deserve to die in vain.

lo’ak appeared behind you, a large hand on your shoulder. lo’ak grew into such a mature young man, he was 17 now, a true warrior. he mirrored neteyam so much it brought tears to your eyes.

‘go. i’ll watch tuk. go help them fight’ he said, placing something in your hand. it was neteyam’s bow and a few of his arrows. ‘lo’ak no i can’t-‘. lo’ak said nothing as he pushed you out of your home, giving you a small smile before running back in.

you quickly caught up to your parents. jake didn’t speak as he figured you would come anyways despite his warning. he knew you were just like lo’ak, hard headed and stubborn. neytiri didn’t want to admit it but she was glad you were there.

the three of you managed to make your way deeper into the forest, your bodies on constant high alert. your ear twitched as you heard a twig snap, neck snapping towards the noise as you quickly lined up the arrow with his bow, whispering a quick ‘make this one count neteyam..’ before the figure jumped out at you, holding its hands up and yelling ‘don’t shoot it’s me!’ you instantly recognized the voice as spider, lowering your bow and sighing. ‘you’re lucky i didn’t kill you’ not knowing the events that would take place there shortly afterwards.

your dad had alerted you that they had found quartich a few moments later, turning your attention from spider and bolting your way towards the cliff they were on, spider hot on your tail.

you watched as your father and the man who’s tortured your family for years tussled, both men slightly wounded from the brawl. ‘mom! dad!’ you yelled, turning their attention to you. just then quartich quickly kicked jake off of him, radioing in for the helicopter to come down and get him.

your father rubbed his nose and your mother ran up to you, screening for any injury. ‘mother i am fine..’ the winds from the helicopter propellers made your hair fly into your face, watching as your father just let him go. ‘you son of a bitch i thought we killed you already!’ he yelled over the noise.

quartich just let out a sinister laugh, looking behind them and winking. ‘you have my boy to thank! saving his old man like a son should!’

your world froze. your blood went cold. the sound of the bow and arrows hitting the floor like blocks on a carpet. you couldn’t help but slowly turn around, horror painted across your face as you met eyes with the boy who you thought of as a friend. as a brother.

‘boy..is this true’ jake said, the noise was gone as quartich flew away. spider was silent. the 3 year long feeling of guilt eating away at his insides as he put his head down, shame written all over his face.

neytiri said nothing, afraid she was going to severely harm the boy yet again, she stayed silent, yet her eyes told a million words at once.

you felt like you couldn’t breathe. you felt like the world was caving under you as you stalked over to the boy. ‘did you..really?’ you asked, your voice nothing short of a whisper. he met eyes with you, giving a shameful nod.

in that moment you felt nothing but rage. 1,065 days of rage. the nights and days you stayed up sobbing, wishing to yourself that it was you. praying to eywa to bring your brother back. 3 years of suppressed anger bubbling over like tea in a kettle.

everything moved in an instant. one minute you were in front of the boy, now you are dangling him from the cliff, his cries and pleads with you to spare his life were muffled as your mind was spinning every which way.

‘y/n no!’ your father tried to rush over to you but neytiri was quick to stop him. while she disliked the human boy, her body tensed up watching you hold him over the ledge. one wrong move and you both were done for. ‘ma jake..if you go..they will both fall’ she said, holding a tight grip on her husband. jake looked surprised at you. you couldn’t even hurt a fly if you tried and here you were, on the verge of killing spider.

he felt bad for both parties. spider was just a boy protecting his family, as jake does with his own family. and you were his grieving daughter. he felt for you but he also felt for spider

‘y/n just think about this..you don’t have to do this..killing him won’t bring neteyam back..you gain nothing from this..’ he said, breaking from neytiris grip, stalking over to you with his hand extended, hoping you would break out of this trance and realize what you’re doing.

‘father..you really want to save this human? he’s the reason your son is dead.. your precious golden child..and you want to save him?” you looked back at your father, leaning spider over the edge even further, almost slipping in the process.

‘y/n!’ your mother called, now behind jake as she’s trying desperately to pull you back, afraid to lose another child.

‘i’m going to give you both a choice..pick your side..me?’ you said turning to them, angry tears now streaming down your face. you slowly turned your head to the now sobbing boy as he continued to beg and plead for his life.

‘or the bitch im gonna kill?’

here with me || lo’ak sully.
includes : nothing just dad!lo’ak telling his children about their uncle neteyam. i cried while writing this so buckle up.

lo’ak watched as his two children, altria and rai’uk chased eachother around their family mauri, their giggles filling his ears as they ran around his legs. “alright come on you two, it’s time for bed” he picked up altria, his daughter and held his son, rai’uk by his hand. they gave lo’ak a run for his money considering they were twins.

“awh daddy come on! i almost had her!” rai’uk raised his arms up for his sister while she just stuck her tongue out at him, teasing him. “i know rai’uk but your mother will kill me if she sees you both are not in bed.” he bent down, laying altria down and tucking the two into bed.

“daddy can you tell us a story?” rai’uk asked, the sandman already creeping up on the 6 year old. with a smile lo’ak nodded. “i’ll tell you about your uncle neteyam.” he began, smiling down at his children.

“your uncle was the mightiest warrior there was..very stubborn though” he chuckled. “even more stubborn than you daddy!?” altria chimed. lo’ak couldn’t help but nod “yes more than me”. he could tell his children were already falling asleep, but he decided to continue.

“he had a big heart too..a big heart that could love anyone and everything..he always had to get me out of trouble with your grandfather when i would mess up..so many times..” he said, his voice beginning to crack. he missed his big brother more than words can describe. “he was always there for me when i needed him..he cracked the funniest jokes too” he sniffed, remembering a few of the jokes neteyam used to make.

“your uncle neteyam would’ve loved to see you both grow into the adorable little rascals you are today” he looked up to see his children fast asleep, a smile drawn on their sleeping faces. lo’ak sadly looked down at his children. he didn’t want to admit it, but they reminded him so much of neteyam and him.

how they argue. how they play so well together. how they’re always there for eachother. it was him and neteyam.

lo’ak kissed his children’s forehead softly before exiting the mauri, his shoulders shaking as he began to sob, a hand coming up to his face to wipe his tears.

‘i miss you so much neteyam. i’m so sorry i just wish you were here with me..i’d give anything to have you back..’ he thought to himself. not realizing a certain someone was listening.

neteyam looked to his little brother, sadness painted across his face. his transparent figure making its way over to lo’ak before engulfing him into a hug, one lo’ak couldn’t feel.

“don’t worry baby brother..i will always be here with you..always.”

love / paranoia.

tonowari watched what was unraveling in front of him. scared you were going to do something drastic, he quickly put a hand on your shoulder as you followed behind neteyam, your tight grip still attached to his braids, but was shocked when you harshly pushed him away.

you then threw down neteyam down onto the hard floor as he rubbed his head and yelled at you “what the hell is your problem (y/n)!” quickly getting up and rushing to you, shaking your shoulders, trying to snap you out of whatever little fit you were having.

“get the fuck off of me!” you shoved him away, he stumbled back and fell into lo’aks arms. the family was..shocked to say the least. you rarely talked but this is the first time they had ever heard you yell like that. you asked tonowari to take tuk out of the mauri for a few to go to the ocean, she had done nothing wrong. she didn’t deserve what they had coming. when he fulfilled your wishes, you turned back to your family and shut the entrance of the mauri.

“i’m the one who has a problem..? no..no.” you chuckled, shaking your head. “i’m not the one with the problem, it’s you egocentric imbeciles who have no compassion or thought for anyone but yourselves!” you began, your face turning a dark indigo as you began to get angrier with each word you spoke.

“when was the last time any of you had hugged me? when?!” you started back up “it was..” jake trailed off, he really couldn’t remember when was the last time he held his oldest child. “silence. dead silence. do you guys even remember when i completed my right of passage?! oh yeah you don’t cause you guys weren’t there! you were never there for me!” tears started to brim your eyes as you continued.

(everyone cheer for y/n cause this is gonna be a long one)

“for 16 long years i’ve been the black sheep. neteyams shadow, lo’aks big sibling, tuks babysitter! there’s nothing special about me! at not once have you tried to make me feel that way! it’s always them over me! i’m the oldest! i’m the one who’s supposed to be olo’ekytan/tsahìk in training! not neteyam/kiri!” you paced around the mauri, meeting your fathers now crying eyes.

“oh you want to cry?! you want to shed tears now that your shitty parenting is coming to light?! i haven’t referred to you as dad in years!! years! and you want to cry ?? i don’t even know who the hell you are anymore, you could be walking around and i wouldn’t even bat an eyelash in your direction.”

neteyam and lo’ak were now crying, seeing you spit venom at your father. “oh please don’t tell me you two are crying?! i spent my entire life covering for you idiots! and not one thank you! god neteyam it should’ve been you!! you should’ve been the one to die! not me!!” you pointed to your chest. neteyam gasped and looked at you. you took that bullet for him?

“i’m so embarrassed to even call myself a sully..sullys stick together? yeah right” you were now full on sobbing , running a hand through your hair and clapping “come on! give yourselves a around of fucking applause for the best family of the year! come on!” you laughed through tears and shook your head when your family stood there awkwardly crying.

“you guys are pathetic..i actually wish eywa didn’t give me another chance. i hate you guys. every single one of you..” you spoke through tears , looking each and every single family member in their eyes, making sure they felt the hatred in your eyes . “you all are dead to me..never-“ your voice cracked. “never speak to me again.” and with that you left. leaving the remaining sully family members in ruins.

a few minutes had passed and the family was still in their state of shock. neytiri then broke down onto her knees , begging eywa to wake her up from this nightmare. lo’ak just stormed out of the mauri, angry tears sliding down his face. kiri just quietly slipped over to your hammock and laid down, hugging the cover up you had made yourself, letting tears fall onto it. neteyam just moved to the corner of the mauri and just cried. no matter how much he tried , he just couldn’t get the tears to stop flowing.

when tuk came back from her excursion with tonowari she was shocked to see the crying faces of her family. when she asked where you were, the little girl was shocked at the answer, immediately bursting into tears with the family. jake was quick at neytiris side, hugging her tightly and crying himself, praying that you would return to them.

but it was too late.

meanwhile with you, you were an emotional wreck. the tears wouldn’t stop and the sobs wouldn’t stop erupting, no matter how hard you tried.

the olo’eyktan and his family tried everything to calm you down but they knew you had to get this cry out. they could tell you were holding this in for a while and it was a long time coming.

tonowari genuinely thought about banishing your family back to where they came from that night. when your sobs began to die down, tonowari was soft at your side , asking “‘tìyawn just say the word and they’re gone..” but you couldn’t do it. granted they put you through hell.

they were still your family.

after you had calmed down, hours later. it was already past eclipse, the stars in the sky twinkled against the ocean as you sat on the rock near the sea.

tonowari and ronal were hesitant about letting you go, arguing that you weren’t really in your right mind and needed to stay by their side for the night. you quickly shut them down and walked to the ocean, the cool sand cooling down your warm body.

you didn’t move as you felt a strange presence arrive next to you. “if mom and dad are trying to get me home tell them no-“ you turned to meet face to face with rotxo, a sad smile on his face.

you sighed as you ran a hand through your hair, looking back to the ocean. “sorry, i thought you were my brother” you apologized, your tone of voice changing from the bitter one you held before. “no need to apologize..ao’nung told me what happened today..im sorry (y/n)..i know it must be hard for you” he added. “yeah tell me about it” you stretched , cracking your neck in the process.

a few minutes went by before rotxo spoke up again “we’re having a music festival tomorrow..i would love if you joined us..” he smiled towards you, hoping to at least lighten your spirits a little. “eh i’ll pass” you said, not really in the mood for a loud party. “please (y/n)? come on i’ll promise it’ll be fun!” he asked with big puppy eyes. you rolled your eyes before nodding. “fine” you got up, leaving him at the rock alone “you’re coming to get me” you said before walking back into the family mauri.

the party came quicker than you would’ve liked it to. you groaned as you were dragged into the festival. the sounds of drums and war chants filled your ears as rotxo and tsireya began to dance, ao’nung not far behind.

you were weary to the festival at first, but you gradually got more comfortable with each song. you were having a blast! but of course thanks to the wonderful author sae, not all good things last forever.

you plopped down on the floor and watched your friends/siblings dance around with eachother. suddenly you were tapped on the shoulder by an unknown person.

“(y/n)..can we talk?”

disciples.

your eyes fluttered open as the sun peered through the entrance of the mauri. your body ached in all different spots, the feeling almost dreadful.

“you’re awake, how are you feeling?” a voice called from behind you. it was tonowari. wasn’t he the olo’eyktan? why was he here with you?

noticing your confusion, the metkayina man smiled down at you and lifted you up slowly, minding your head in his hold.

“my wife and daughter went out to gather more herbs for your medicine, i offered to watch you until you woke up.” a small smile spread across your face as your looked up at him “thank you..” you spoke softly as he stood up and gave you a curt nod.

“here child, you need to eat” he brought over a bowl of soup for you. you took the bowl and set it down, your appetite not really setting in just yet. tonowari noticed this and sat down in front of you, taking your hands into yours.

“what’s on your mind child? you seem troubled” you hesitated for a while, you didn’t know if to trust him or not. you haven’t had a stable male figure for basically your entire life, you didn’t know how to open up to anyone.

“well i uh..” you stopped yourself, catching your breath before sighing. you had only met tonowari a few times, and those times were genuinely horrifying, he was a big scary man, you didn’t know he could be this kind hearted.

“well it’s my family..” you started, staring down at the bowl , refraining from eye contact. “i was under there for 4 days before they realized i was gone..they probably would’ve gone longer if we’re being honest” you began to choke up. the thought of their betrayal running circles in your mind.

“it’s been like that my whole life..when neteyam was born it was fine for a while, of course he was a baby he needed more attention .. then came lo’ak..then kiri..” you sighed and looked up at him, his eyes softened as he listened to your troubles, the man took pity on you. you were just a child. no child should go through this

“my parents were more worried about them..my brother was to train to be the next olo’eyktan and kiri to be tsakarem..my parents didn’t believe that i was good enough to do any of the important stuff, they wanted me to stay the hunter of the family..so they gave them all of the attention.”

you pulled a small beaded string from your hair and showed it to the man in front of you. “the last time something was added to my songcord was when i was 3, i had to add things myself..like when i completed my right of passage..alone..or when i caught my first fish..alone” you sighed, reminiscing over your childhood, how blank and bleak it seemed.

tonowari listened to it all. all of your troubles, all of your struggles. he was fuming. you were such a beautiful soul, so innocent and curious, how could your own family treat you like this.

you both didn’t notice ronal and tsireya return. the pair both shared a pitiful glance before carefully sitting at your side. ao’nung was standing there the entire time, he hadn’t left for the morning just yet. at first he didn’t like you, you were some forest freak who came intruding on their land, but after hearing your life story, the male felt for you, he felt bad for you.

he sat next to tsireya as they all began comforting you. the feeling was uncomfortable to say the least, but you weirdly felt safe with them, like that lonely void was being filled little by little.

after the conversation, ao’nung came and sat next to you, offering his hand “i know my mom said you shouldn’t leave just yet..but you need some fresh air, i know it can get stuffy in here sometimes”

you hesitated. didn’t he JUST try to fight you not even last week, now he’s being a sweetheart? you thought for a minute, hesitantly taking his hand as he raised you up, walking with you outside.

“hey uh..im sorry about last week and..your entire family, nobody deserves that..even if you are a forest freak” he smiled at you. you rolled your eyes at his last comment but smiled anyways, appreciating the apology.

“hey nung!- woah (y/n)?! where have you been?!” you turned your head to see neteyams friend rotxo, he had been there the day you all had arrived to awa’atlu.

“you know..died..came back to life you know, the regular” you joked. “come on not funny (y/n)” he said. your face went serious “oh no im not joking see?” you pointed to your chest and he almost fainted. “man you’re such a wimp” ao’nung laughed and pushed his friend back up on his feet.

soon eclipse fell onto awa’atlu, the sounds of the ocean waves and forest critters filled the air. you were back in tsahìk mauri with ronal checking up on you.

“you know you don’t have to go back home..you’re more than welcome to stay here with us” ronal spoke, breaking the silence.

“no im okay..i don’t wanna intrude into your family” you spoke, your bones still sore. “nonsense child..it is clear your family has..forsaken you..” ronal trailed off, attempting to be careful with her words. “you are only a child..you need a place to stay..now im not asking..i am telling..” she finished, standing up and looking down at you.

“ao’nung and tonowari will retrieve your things tomorrow..from now on you are staying with us..as a family..i need to keep an eye on you child..” she bent back down and cupped her 4 fingered hand on your cheek.

you felt her warm hands turn into an embrace. you weren’t sure if it was because she was the tsahìk or what but her embrace felt motherly, something you hadn’t experienced. she smelled of flowers and the ocean. a welcoming smell. you held back tears as you softly returned the embrace, mumbling out a quick thank you before breaking the hug. you didn’t want to go back home, you didn’t want to be with that family anymore.

they have the other kids, they’ll be fine without me. i’m pretty sure they don’t even care

when tsireya and aonung heard the news , they were over joyed! ao’nung was finally glad to not be the oldest anymore and he seemingly enjoyed your presence after the day. tsireya was over the moon, she finally had someone who she felt comfortable enough around to tell anything. ronal and tonowari were just as happy, your smiling face after seeing your tearful expression with your family made them happy. they silently promised to eachother they were going to give you the best life you could have.

you finally had a family. a place you were accepted and loved. no matter the conditions.

when news broke to the sullys, they were truly distraught. you felt bad as you stood in their mauri, head hung low as tonowari stood tall behind you.

“you can’t just take our child!” neytiri yelled, walking towards you and attempting to pull you into her embrace. you shook her off and sighed “they aren’t taking me mom..i’m going willingly” the family fell silent.

jake furrowed his eyebrows before moving to a now sobbing neytiri as she attempted to open her arms to you. you moved back harshly as you turned away from her.

“(y/n) you can’t just leave! we’re your family!” lo’ak shouted, stomping up to you and grabbing your hand. you quickly shoved him away and hissed at him. lo’aks face dropped. you never hissed at him before.

“(y/n) come on just think this through..we’re sorry okay? just don’t leave..we need you..” neteyam slid over to your slowly, refraining from touching you seeing as though that was the last thing you needed.

“neteyam stop-“ you felt a body attach itself to your leg. you looked down and began tearing up. it was tuk. she was sobbing. “(y/n) please don’t go! i’ll be good i’m sorry just please don’t go!!” she clung to you like glue.

kiri couldn’t stand to look at you, knowing she would cry at the scene.

lo’ak was now stomping over to his dad and looking back at neteyam “dad do something!!” his voice cracked , almost crying.

jake looked at you with pleading eyes, almost saying “please don’t do this to us”. you stared down at tuk, tears glossing your eyes as you softly moved tuk from your leg and stormed out of the mauri, mumbling a quick “im sorry” under your breath.

ao’nung walked inside and gave his father a look before beginning to grab your things , jake having to hold neytiri back as ao’nung began to grab your things and move them out.

“dude come on..mom! dad! do something!!” lo’ak was now sobbing as he attempted to plead with his parents. but there was nothing anyone could do, you were gone, out of their grasp.

ronal was outside of the mauri and had heard everything, taking your now sobbing figure into her embrace, rubbing your back as you sobbed into her shoulder. she felt bad for you. she knew you wanted to leave, but knew it would pain you to do so.

neteyam had been crying before a wave of anger washed over him. they were your family, how could you just up and leave them like that.

he pushed past ao’nung before storming to where you and ronal were, yelling out “we’re your family!! sullys stick together remember!! this is selfish!!” he yelled purely from anger and hurt.

his words trigged something in you. selfish. you? selfish.

your sobbing began to die down as you turned to neteyam, storming up to him and grabbing his braids, tossing him back into the mauri.

“you wanna talk family? let’s talk family shall we?”

Anonymous asked:

With Neytiri x human!daughter, what if reader took the bullet for Neteyam?

I love you, daughter

Neytiri x human!daughter!reader

summary: y/n, neytiris daughter, gets shot instead of neteyam.

A/N: this is such a good idea anon!! Thank you for requesting and I hope u enjoy <3 also I am very certain this does not follow the exact way things play out in the movie, but I hope it is satisfactory

Warnings: death, blood, lots of angst, bad ending 😭

you had no idea how you made it this far. you were currently tired up to the ship with kiri and tuk, waiting for what comes next. feeling scared, hopeless, the idea of giving up was on your mind. i mean you were human right? a simple plea of forgiveness and understanding could immediately grant your safety, but the thought of betraying your only true family stopped that nonsense from happening

soon enough, neteyam, spider, and lo’ak came to the rescue. all of them began working frantically to cut the three of you loose, trying not to alert the military aboard. as soon as spider got you untied, all of you were spotted. everything happened so fast. flight or fight mode kicked in and you happened to be doing both at the same time. tuk was next to you and she was your priority. not for one second did you consider your own safety while trying to protect your baby sister. if neytiri lost her youngest, she would be devastated.

while running on the ship trying to get to the water, bullets were being shot in all directions. seeing the pure panic and horror on your siblings faces saddened you. they needed to be safe. as second eldest in the family, you had a responsibility to protect the others. you and neteyam shared a nod, along with a mutual understanding. save the others. no matter what it takes.

the both of you ran behind the others, to stop any advancing soldiers from trying to reach and pull them behind. the exit to the water was so close. only a few more feet. tuk jumped into tsireyas arms, while lo’ak and kiri jumped in together as well. the soldiers were advancing further, about to jump in the water too. neteyam grabbed a gun on the ground and started shooting at the avatars, you immediately moved in front of him, not thinking, only worried about making sure he wasn’t going to be attacked himself (you are entirely too short to get shot by him, that is not where this is going dw y’all 😭)

neteyam dropped the gun, grabbed your hand, and both of you jumped into the water. immediately, something felt off. a deep stinging, aching feeling on the left side of your chest. it felt as if all of the air had been sucked out of your lungs. treading water had become difficult. “y/n! c’mon!” neteyam urged, not noticing the situation you were in. your head began bobbing in and out of the water. “neteyam… I’ve been shot” you whispered, barely able to speak. “shit, lift her up!” lo’ak yelled.

your brothers lifted you up onto neteyams ilu. frantic, they looked for the nearest spot to rest you on, a small cluster of rocks that sit above the sea. jake jumped off of his ilu, “what’s going on?”

“y/n’s been shot!” lo’ak cried. jake immediately flipped you over. an exit wound was visible. there was no getting out of this. “apply pressure.” jake urged, maybe there could be a chance.

neytiri flew down to you using her ikran. seeing all of the panicked looks on everyone’s faces, and then seeing you lying there on the rocks alerted her. she immediately knelt down by you, seeing the blood soaking your clothes, the red only growing. “no, no, no y/n”

“mom, i— i want to go home” you choked out. your shuttering, halting breaths are becoming more evident. trying to control the shock, the pain.

“shh, it is going to be okay. just keep talking y/n, breathe.” neytiri whispered. denial already making its course through her. she knew deep down, you wouldn’t make it. but as long as you were still alive and breathing, she was going to be there for you.

your eyes began to tear up. breaths becoming more shallow, the little life you had inside was about to leave. “i, i can’t- mom. i just- want to go home.” you sighed out as the air was leaving your lungs.

neytiri bent down and placed her hand on your forehead, moving slowly to your hair. “i love you my daughter, my y/n.”

all you could do was stare up at her. you didn’t have enough strength to even speak anymore. the pain was fleeting, your head feeling light almost as if you were floating. your eyes spoke what you couldn’t physically verbalize. you loved her too. neytiris tears spilled from her eyes and onto your cheeks. soon, you felt fear knowing you’d never see your family again, at least on the physical plain. fully aware the end is near.

your eyes went blank

“y/n?” neytiri whispered, not accepting that you were gone. she held your limp hand, wishing that your grip would strengthen, that you would come back.

“no, no, no, no.” she yelled. screams ripping through her vocal cords. wailing, a mothers grief. she picked your upper half up and held you in her arms, rocking you back and forth, crying. your blood smearing onto her. she would never be the same again after losing her oldest daughter, a piece of her soul would be missing forever.

time travel.
in which the sully kids travel back in time ! this made me giggle while i was writing it 💀

“so what does it do? how does that little thing send you all the way back in time?” lo’ak asked, sitting himself up next to you.

“glad you asked lo’ak, this is time travel device just made and it’ll take you back to any time you want, with the help of this little watch here” norm held up the small circular disk and watch.

“the disk feels out how many people are on it and sizes out to fit! and you can adjust the time with the watch” max added from across the room.

“give me that!” lo’ak snatched the disk from norm and held it in his hand. “lo’ak stop! you’re gonna break it!” neteyam yelled, trying to get the disk out of lo’aks hands. “move dude! i’m just trying to see!”

“give me that. imbeciles.” you snatched the disk from their hands and handed it back to norm. “so , do you think we could give it a go?” kiri spoke up with a smile.

norm and max gave eachother a look. the ‘please don’t let these kids try it they will definitely mess up the space time continuum’ look.

“fine! im giving (y/n) the watch though..god knows what lo’ak or neteyam would do with it” norm placed the watch on your wrist, giving a few instructions of how to turn it back or forward.

max then trailed over and placed the disk down, you all stepping on it. oh yeah, ALL of the sully kids were going, even tuktirey!

“so guys where do we wanna go?” you asked, looking down at the watch and beginning to set it back a few years. “i wanna go see where mom and dad met!” tuk piped in, all of her siblings agreeing with her. “so that was about 17 years ago since they had me after they met…anddddd done!”

you smiled looking up at norm who nodded to the button on the watch. “be careful and remember not to speak to ANYONE, one wrong move and the space time continuum goes poof! and you guys don’t exist.” the sully kids fell silent. except lo’ak who reached over and pressed the button. “bye losers!” he yelled as you guys were transported.

“god lo’ak learn a bit of patience!” you all coughed, stepping off of the pad and watching as neteyam grabbed it. “the two oldest should have responsibility over it” he added, turning on his heels and walking away.

“neteyam wait up!! you heard what norm said if we even mess up the slightest thing we’re done for!” you ran up behind your younger brother, kiri holding tuk with lo’ak hot on your tails

“what does that even mean? and what the hell is a space time continuum” he spoke. you rolled your eyes and stopped in your tracks, turning to him with sigh “we talk to mommy and daddy, we go bye bye” you said in possibly the dumbest voice you could.

“oh shit” lo’ak laughed “oh shit is right-“ you all heard the sound of a creature in the woods, immediately ducking. “shit!” kiri gasped, covering her mouth before you all moved over to a big tree.

you made the initiative to lean over the tree to see what happened. you see two na’vi, one who looked native and one who had clothes like norm and max.

you squinted before recognizing who the two people were. it was your mom and dad, they were younger, wayyyy younger. “god is that mom and dad?!” lo’ak whisper yelled, immediately getting shushed by all of you.

neytiris neck snapped towards the tree as you all cowered behind it. taking a sigh of relief when jake began to speak to her.

you all watched in amazement as your mom seemingly HATED your dad. “love at first sight my ass..” neteyam whispered to you, earning a small giggle and stifling back laughter as she hit him with her bow, watching him fly to the ground with a quick “damn!”

it made you wonder. he used to be fun. what happened to him. that’s not the dad YOU know.

“mommy don’t hurt daddy!!” tuk began to walk out to her parents that aren’t her parents just yet, forgetting the FIRST rule norm gave them. jake and neytiri turn to the scene but before they could catch a glimpse of tuktirey, you’re pulling her back and covering her mouth.

neytiri began to slowly stalk over to the tree you all were hiding behind. “eywa this is it! i’m gonna cease to exist!” lo’ak whispered. you began to set the watch back to modern time while neteyam threw down the launch pad quickly , you all stepping on it and you quickly pushing the button , traveling back to your time.

you all stepped off the launch pad and look a long sigh, stumbling over in the lab as you all caught your breaths. you all almost didn’t exist, that was nerve wracking.

“that was fast, told you they wouldn’t last even 20 minutes” max laughed and looked at the sully kids storm out of the lab.

“what happened who messed up?” norm laughed , clutching his stomach.

“tuktirey! i’m never time traveling with her ever again!”

reality in motion.

it’s warm. like a sunny spring day. nothing compared to the pain you once felt. when your eyes open, the bright white light was almost blinding. i’m dead. you thought.

“my child? why are you here? it isn’t your time.”

what was that voice? then it registered. it was the great mother. your creator.

you quickly stood to your feet and bowed. when you lifted your head up you met eyes with the almighty. she was beautiful. the most beautiful woman you have ever seen.

“(y/n)..no..no no no it’s far too early for you to be with me..what happened?” doesn’t eywa see all? how does she not know what happened.

“i would rather not talk about it..you said it wasn’t my time.. what do you mean?” the great mother took pity on you, one of her greatest creations.

“you’re still young..still have so much time..you aren’t supposed to be here with me..not yet” she took her hands in yours and gave you a small smile

“it was great to meet you my child..but you must return..” what did she mean by that?

your world suddenly went black. your eyes snapping open as you felt a burning in your lungs. you looked around and noticed something, you were underwater. at the bottom of the ocean.

you quickly swam up to the surface and took a deep breath, choking up some water as you struggled to keep your head afloat.

just your luck, some divers noticed you emerge from the water and quickly swam over to save you. they recognized you as the child that had gone missing.

your body was weak and frail. your lips were a light blue. signifying that you indeed had died. as your head leaned against the back of the metkayina diver, you raised a shaky hand over your chest to see that your wound was healed.

you blanked out after that. you only really remember bits and pieces of what happened. one minute you were in the care of tsireya, the next minute your family was running in with frantic eyes and puffy faces.

they had been crying for you. tch. i bet those tears were forced.

“(y/n) you’re safe! thank you great mother thank you!!” neytiri dropped beside you and hugged you, not too tight seeing as though you were still fragile.

your mind was all over the place. you had just been brought back from the dead for what seemed like weeks. you looked and felt like hell. and why was your mother hugging you..she’s never done that before.

“this child proclaims to have been dead at the bottom of the ocean..they don’t remember much but they remember seeing their siblings..” ronal looked over to lo’ak and neteyam “ride back to shore on an ilu..”

lo’ak felt his heart drop. that was days ago. he looked over to neteyam who had guilt written all over his face.

neytiri pulled away from her eldest child and looked at their face. she didn’t notice you were gone. she didn’t know you had died. she didn’t know. she didn’t think to check.

“you left them there? i thought you said they were behind you..” jake turned to his sons, his eyebrows furrowed. when they did notice you were missing, the boys were the first ones to speak up , saying that you were behind them.

“well we thought they were..but we didn’t look back to check..” neteyam scratched the back of his neck, tears brimming his eyes as he felt so guilty in that moment.

the whole family stood in shock. they thought you were somewhere far from them this whole time. not dead. and how did you even come back to life..that’s impossible.

“(y/n)..is this true?” kiri spoke up, looking at you being treated by ronal, tonowari close by fuming at the family.

“what reason do i have to lie..” you spoke, voice hoarse. “i was shot” you pointed to the wound on your chest.

the family collectively gasped.

“i took the bullet for neteyam..it was supposed to be for him..considering the face lo’ak made when the ship was mentioned..im gonna assume it’s been days..hasn’t it been lo’ak?” you turned to your youngest brother as he let out a shaky sigh and nod.

“i stand corrected..it’s been days..nobody tried looking for me..” you said sitting up. tsireya was quick to put a hand over yours and grip it tightly.

“days..i’ve been gone for days..and nobody tried-“ you were cut off by your fathers voice “we started a search party!” he frantically said, tears now in his eyes “ and when did you start it ? “ tonowari spoke up, he already knew the answer , he just wanted to hear what the family had to say for themselves.

“we started it 2 days ago..” neteyam spoke. he was now crying. how could he do this to his big sibling. you were nothing but kind to him. to all of them. but this is how they repay you.

“and when were you all on the ship?” ronal asked, looking at lo’ak. he didn’t want to answer, he felt the shame rise in him as he looked at tsireya. she looked so disappointed in him.

“it was about 6 days ago”

the mauri fell silent. you’d been gone for 4 days before the family realized you were gone. that’s all it took for tonowari to dismiss your family, instructing ronal to keep patching you up and tending to you.

“you bring shame to your people..out..before i change my mind on letting you stay here.

you watched as your family quickly moved out of the mauri, not even turning back. you laid back on the floor, the world seeming to move on it’s own around you. you blanked out. you couldn’t feel. you couldn’t think. you couldn’t breathe. you didn’t want to be here.

why was eywa punishing you so?

you were eventually left in the mauri alone, left to rest.

your world was changing right before your eyes.

like reality in motion.

Baby, Mine

Pre Avatar Way of Water

Pregnant!Na'vi!Black!Reader x Jake Sully X Neytiri

This is the moment we have all been waiting for! I want to thank every single person who interacts with my stories, leaves comments, likes, and sends in asks and messages! You all give me so much encouragement to continue writing and I thank you!

Now without further ado, let's get into it.

“And you’re sure you don’t want to relax?”

“Jake, I am fine.

“You look like you're gonna pop!”

You rolled your eyes at the nagging of your mate, continuing to thread the sack with nimble hands. You’d been in a total nesting mode, knitting carriers that mothers used to carry their babies. You weaved beaded necklaces, and even attached the first bead for your baby’s songchord. Neytiri assisted you as well, but you know it was her way of keeping an eye on you.

So with a huff you looked up into those worried eyes and conceded, "I understand you are worried for us. If Mo'at checked us would you feel better?"

His lips twitched the slightest bit and he nodded, squatting and settling on his heels to be at level with you.

"Much better. Just want you both safe is all" he leaned forward pressing two delicate kisses to your lips. Then he looked down, "now be good to your mama little one. We're just as excited to see you."

Lo’ak and Netayem were no better than refusing to let you hunt or train them anymore. The boys nearly had a heart attack witnessing you try to fly your ikran. Little one was close, you all felt it.

And how did you feel about it? Far from prepared. Your fingers moved to feel the smoothness of the glass bead as you wondered. Motherhood was never a thought of yours, you were so focused on your education the last thing you thought of was switching species and settling down with your mates on a planet far from earth.

Far from your family. It never hit you that your mother wouldn’t be here to witness this. That your father couldn’t see his grandbabies though double in his size run around and play with him. Your sister wouldn’t know she is an aunt.

It was a danger to try and send any communication back home. So for now all you could do is just hope and pray that your family knew you were safe. And in your own heart, you prayed with each da they knew that though you were eons away your love never once wavered.

I see you daughter,” Your eyes lifted to meet Mo’at as she set her things down in front of you “you and your baby are in good health.”

I see you, mother.” You returned the gesture, moving your things aside for her to sit in front of you.

Mo’at would check upon you often as she did with all the pregnant mothers. It was the duty of the tsahik. She’d ask about pains, aches, help you breath and feel one with your baby. As you sat with both hands on your stomach, eyes shut as you took deep breaths while she prayed over you, pressing her hands onto your shoulders.

May Eywa bring peace to you My daughter. Do not let fear take this beautiful gift. The great mother shines upon you, let her presence shine in you. You will be a strong mother.“

Her hands stilled for a moment at your sternum and you peaked one eye open seeing the older woman eye your stomach warily.

Mother?”

My daughter, calm yourself. The child is coming tonight.”

And that did anything BUT calm you. Na’vi didn’t have epidurals or painkillers! You were going through a natural birth in a body you’ve barely begun to understand! She called for the birthing mothers to bring you to the birthing area, a dimly lit cool and calm area for women to give birth. Bottles and bowls of herbs, salves, oils and cool water and with nested areas of thick blankets for the mothers to lay.

It smelled of rich spices and that was enough to calm your thudding heart.

You had been down here once or twice to assist Mo’at in helping births. But coming down into it as someone about to give birth was entirely different. And as you lie down in the blankets  and allow the women to lay a cool cloth upon your face and massage some oil into your stomach you close your eyes trying to remain calm.

With gentle hands they moved you to your side to massage your lower back and a low groan rumbled in your chest. Little one must have got the message because they were moving a LOT. You needed Neytiri, you needed Jake.

Time moved slowly, and your aches were dull waves moving down your low back toward your lower half. The oils helped and pushed any nausea aside. They offered you water which you slowly sipped when you could sit up, but for your time below you lay in anxious agony.

“My Y/N,” Neytiri crooned, moving with quick grace down the winding steps, taking a spot beside you. “Calm yourself, the great mother will guide you and your baby.”

Jake came in with less grace with the boys running on their fathers heels being stopped by Mo’at who chided them to calm themselves. That their anxiety would only spike yours. The boys settled a little ways from you while Jake was instructed by the birth mothers to sit behind you and continue to massage your stomach.

Peace fell for a moment as you slowly felt lulled to sleep, head falling back onto Jake’s shoulder as he lay kisses along your cheek. Then you felt it, a shift in you that made you sit up. The pressure began to build up and your breathing followed. In an instant Mo’at crouched in front of you “move her to her side, the child is coming.”

Jake quickly did so with gentle movements and moved to lay on his side facing you with Neytiri curling up by your head. Her fingers moving in your hair, massaging your scalp as your whimpers increased.

Your gasps broke the silence and serenity of the birthing tree as Mo’at instructed with every deep breath to push. The pain burned your entire body and crawled itself up your spine. Every shift and push exhausted your body and the tears down your face were wiped away with your Neytiri’s help. You begged Great Mother to end this pain, for a quick birth but time seemed to drag on with no end and from what you could make out your baby was nowhere near out yet.

“I can’t do it..I can't do it” you wailed, screwing your eyes shut.

“Yes you can baby, you are strong. Little one is close baby but you need to keep pushing.” His firm hold on your cheek grounding you.

Mo’ats chanting and Jake and Neytiri’s prayers slowly dimmed to a buzz as shapes danced before your eyes, twirling and swirling to take form.

You were home. Home in that flat you called home. And in that beautiful book, littered in plants bathed in the sun was your mother. Her smile as warm as you once remembered eased your pains. How you longed to see those beautiful brown freckles, kiss every single one once, have those gentle hands cup your cheeks, and wipe those tears away.

“You're gonna be fine baby, deep breaths. You can do this”

“Mama I can’t I can’t it’s too much…” you blubbered.

“Yes you can,” she reached her hands out to you holding both your hands. Her hands, soft and coarse with years of work melted away your worries, “I remember  I was like this with you, but you know what? I was terrified because I thought I wasn’t. But I knew you were going to be the biggest blessing of my life.

“Now breath baby”

You took in one gulp of breath, your eyes shooting open and with the strength you had left pushed till a baby's cry filled the tree.

A daughter!” The birthing woman was quick to swaddle the baby and pass it to M’at who cooed at the baby's wails. With your mates help they moved you to lay on your back. She gently lay your daughter onto your heaving chest and a warmth filled your body as tears dripped down.

“Oh thank you, great mother! Thank you!” Neytiri pressed kisses to your head cupping the back of the baby's head. “Welcome little one, oh you are beautiful like your mother.”

Jake carefully moved from behind, helping you lie down to curl around Neytiri looking at your baby girl with pure adoration in his eyes. Beautiful like her mother but that mischievous little smile was definitely his. His thumb caressed her cheek as he pressed a cheek to the side of your head.

“I'm so proud of you baby. Have you thought of a name?” “Sylwanin” you whispered, giving Nytiri and Mo’at a wobbly smile, “to honor her.” Neytiri was swift to press a delicate kiss upon your lips.

Lo’ak and Netayem were quick to come flying into your side eyeing their little sister with big curious eyes. Her cries dulled to blubbers and coos. Her hands fisted your beads and her eyes remained shut.

She looks like, Sa’nok” Netayem whispered, tilting his head. He held his finger to her fist, a smile blossoming when his little sister took hold of his finger. Lo’ak smiled brightly, whispering her name over and over. With gentle hands he played with the soft hair atop her head.

Sleep washed over you slowly and Mo'at could see this. So she offered to keep watch over you and the baby for the night while your mates tended to the half-sleep boys. You sent them off with kisses and whispered promises to see their baby sister int he morning.

She was gentle with you and slow, her hands held you and guided you to the bathing waters. And then she massaged some bathing paste on your body. After helping you and your baby bathe, Mo’at had you lie down, placing your baby back in your arms and covering the both of you with a blanket you swore was weaved with the very threads of the clouds above.

"Rest well my daughter. I am proud of you" her forhead pressed to yours and she left you there in the silence of the tree.

And as you lay there, your baby held close in your arms, you felt peace.

Here she was, this beauty that you grew in ad with you, who you spoke to, sang to for nine months. You hummed softly into the serenity of the dark night. Your fingers caressed the beads adorning her, and smoothed her soft dark hair atop her head. “Welcome home, my sweet little one. My Sylwanin

“Omatikayaru tìhawnu sivi”- Protect the people.

sully family x reader

shoutout to @eywas-heir for giving me the idea for this fic, i hope i did it justice :)
pairings: sully family x reader, neytiri x daughter!reader, jake sully x daughter! reader, neteyam x twinsister!reader etc.
notes: this is set during the events of avatar twow and I had sm fun writing this! this fic is 2k+ words so be prepared
synopsis: you’re the twin sister to neteyam. growing up you served as the families little bit of peace, even when quaritch threatens everything you know and love.

…Mìpa tìreyti, mìpa tìkanti. Lawnol a mì te’lan.

One of your earliest memories was your mother and father cradling you and your twin brother Neteyam, while your mother sings her songcord. Your mothers voice always had an affect on you from a young age.

“y/n, please stop fighting with your brother.” You always listened to what your mother had to say, even if it was a scolding. You loved your dad endlessly but you were a mama’s girl at heart, and everyone knew it.

She sees a lot of her late older sister in you. Your compassion for Pandora’s animal life, your strong will, and your love for the people.

“Ma' ite, she is beautiful.” Your grandmother constantly reminded your mother how happy she is that you’re her first grandchild. Your whole family adored you and that continued even into your teen years

“Ma sempul Lo’ak has done nothing wrong, let him be.” You never failed to stand up for your younger brother to your father, even when what he did was truly stupid. You never let your brother feel like he was not supported by you. Today however, was different.

When you got the message that Lo’ak, Kiri, Spider, and Tuk were at the old shack with sky people present, you felt could not defend him. He had put himself and your siblings in a dangerous position.

After rescuing your siblings from Quaritch and his people, you couldn’t help but to let your anger with your brother dissipate. Your gratefulness for their safety was a stronger feeling than your anger for them being in that situation in the first place.

꧁꧂

Later that night after finishing a conversation with a few of your friends you make your way back to your families tent. You catch your siblings seated outside of your home seemingly listening to someone’s conversation. “Guys what are you do-” Kiri sushes you, gesturing for you to sit down with them.

“I can not, you can not ask this. I can not leave my people, I will not!” Your ears perk up at the mention of leaving the people. ‘What’s going on?’ You wonder. Your father says something about him targeting your family. You immediately know who he’s referring to. “You can not ask this! The children everything they’ve ever known, the forest, this is our home!” Your mom bites back. Tuk winces upon hearing your mom yell at your dad. Placing a hand on her shoulder you nod at her, giving her a faint smile attempting to keep her grounded.

“My father gave me this bow as he lay dying. And he said ‘protect the people’ you’re Toruk Makto!” At this point you and your siblings are all on edge, as you begin to understand what your dad is insisting. Tuk wraps herself in your embrace as you attempt to soothe her irregular breathing. Kiri has a hand over her mouth as she lets out quiet sobs. Your brothers have serious faces on with saddened eyes.

“But I know one thing, wherever we go this family is our fortress.” You and your siblings make eye contact sharing a knowing look. Your father has never given your family any reason not to trust him, this is no different.

꧁꧂

Turning back you’re met with the forest, your people, and your home getting smaller and smaller as you ride off with your family to a new region of Pandora.

You learned how to hunt there, you bonded with your Ikran there, you attended Tsahìk lessons with your grandmother there. The forest is your home and your life’s first love. Nowhere could ever replace it.

Although if this is truly the best choice for the safety of your family, you’re willing to go as far as it takes.

꧁꧂

Arriving at Awa'atlu, everything felt wrong. You felt outcast for the first time in your life. You and your siblings immediately being subject to the bullying of the Olo'eyktan’s son Ao’nung and his friends didn’t help the feeling either.

“Leave us alone!” Your ears perk up, your head swiftly turning to where you’re hearing the commotion. Your eyes land on the sight of Lo’ak and Kiri being harassed by Ao’nung and his friends. Making eye contact with Neteyam you both make your way over to your younger siblings.

Roughly shoving Ao’nung away from your brother and giving him a deadly stare, your eyes narrowing at him. “You heard what she said, leave them alone.” Neteyam demands. One of his friends attempts to talk back to him and before you can respond to him Ao’nung raises his hand infront of is body, silencing him. “Back off now!” You hiss tilting your head, daring him to say anything back. Ao’nung then raises his hands in surrender. “Smart choice, and from now on I need you to respect my siblings.” Checking to make sure all of you are ok you begin to retreat back to your marui pod.

Walking away they begin to talk more shit under their breaths about your family. Lo’ak stops walking with us and turns back. Neteyam warns him to stop but Lo’ak dismisses him and continues to walk over to the group. Neteyam makes eye contact with you, clearly confused as the two of you watch the scene unfold.

Suddenly Lo’ak punches Ao’nung in the face twice, and he’s sent back by the blow into the sand. “It’s called a punch bitch!” They immediately gang up on your brother, he starts losing the fight and fast. “Teyam do something!” You whisper yell to your brother. He looks at you scratching his head contemplating getting into a fight for his little brother, ultimately deciding to jump in to help him.

꧁꧂

After all the fighting Lo’ak and Neteyam returned home all bruised up. Your father was not having it, ordering you all to go make peace with Ao’nung. Once your brothers left with defeated faces you stick behind to talk with your dad.

“Lo’ak was only defending Kiri, Sully’s stick together and that’s what he was doing. The execution wasn’t the best sure but he still stood up for her, don’t be so harsh.” He sends you a sympathetic smile and pulling you into his chest, wrapping you in his strong arms, and kissing the top of your head. “Alright babygirl.”

꧁꧂

The peace that was made between the two families was soon destroyed when Teyam comes in dragging Ao’nung by his arm “Tell them what you told me” Looking at your parents in confession you listen to what Aonung has to say.

The color drains from your face he reveals what has happened with your brother. Throughout the night you wondered where he had gone off to, figuring he was out doing his own thing with his new friend Tsireya you brushed it off.

When your little brother returned home you ran to him trapping him in a tight embrace, thanking Eywa for his safety. He relaxes in your embrace but quickly tenses back up at the sight of your enraged mother.

꧁꧂

The following weeks at Awa'atlu were rather peaceful for you. Lo’ak told you all about Payakan, the clan shamed him for it but you found it interesting and agreed with him that Payakan is a hero. So did little Tuk, she constantly asked him about his new found friend.

The Tulkun returned home, and you swear to Eywa it was the most beautiful sight. You got better and better at riding your ilu and holding you breath thanks to Tsireya’s lessons. Things for your family were starting to look up.

꧁꧂

You were cooking dinner with your parents when you got the news that started the spiral that sent everything downhill.

You and your mother were laughing at your father’s corny jokes, simply enjoying one another’s company when Tonowari walked past your marui pod, causing you all to fall silent. Your mom gave your dad a questioning look as he makes his way to Tonowari.

꧁꧂

Ronal’s spirit sister and her baby were killed by Quaritch. Noticing how your mom’s heart clinches at Ronal’s cries reminding her of when her own sister was taken by the sky people, you place a hand on her shoulder trying to soothe your mother.

When the clan gets word on what has happened, all hell breaks loose. Your father attempts to reason with them that attacking the sky people will end in defeat but they persist. “Please, listen to my father!” You beg the people to hear him out but their war cries only grow louder.

Your father shows off the tracker to clan, silencing them all. It is decided that the clan will warn the tulkun and tell them to leave. The clan thinks this is about the Tulkun but your family knows it’s really you being hunted.

Lo’ak runs off to the docks, Neteyam and you following after him knowing he’s going to warn Payakan. Lo’ak argues with Neteyam about him being the perfect son he’ll never be and it hurts your heart. He jumps into the water and takes off on his ilu. Neteyam and you yell his name in unison as you jump in after him, commanding your ilus to follow him.

꧁꧂

When you find Payakan, he has a tracker lodged in his arm. Using the strength of You, Neteyam, Lo’ak, Rotxo, Ao’nung, and Tsireya you manage to pull the tracker out. Successfully rescuing him.

In the process Kiri, Tuk, Lo’ak, and Tsireya are captured and bound the the ship. Your parents along with the metkiyna warriors arrive aiding in the fight, Payakan does too.

Dodging every bullet from underwater effortlessly, you make your way to the ship. Emerging from the water you run to Lo’ak cutting him loose while Neteyam frees Tuk and Tsireya.

“Did ya miss me little bro?” You tease. Rolling his eyes and shaking his bound wrist “Just hurry up!”

Cutting him loose “Cmon bro lets go.” Neteyam and you begin to exit the ship but Lo’ak turns back, taking a gun from a dead sky person.

“They have spider” Lo’ak begs you and Neteyam to save him. You know how much Spider means to him, they grew up together after all. Sharing a look with Neteyam he groans and reluctantly agrees.

Together You and your brothers take out every last human in the area seamlessly. Using your knife to puncture one of its oxygen mask while kicking the back side of their knee bringing them to the floor, slitting their throat. Successfully retrieving Spider you rest your hands on your knees trying to calm your uneven breathing, “Nice kill sis!” Lo’ak praises, hitting the back of his head in response annoyed by his joking in a serious situation.

“Guys go! go!” Neteyam shouts, redirecting your attention to the avatar shooting at the three of you. Once the four of you reach cover you take the gun out of Lo’ak’s possession, firing back at your attackers.

“Lo’ak jump go!” You order and be wastes no time jumping off of the ship into the water below, the other two boys following right behind him. You stay behind continuing to fire bullets at the group shooting at you, you’re out numbered now. Quickly reciting a prayer to Eywa you dive into the water.

When you emerge from under the water you gasp at the stinging sensation in your shoulder.

“Oh shit y/n.” Spider gasps and everyone’s attention is on you in an instant. You feel yourself being pulled onto an ilu as your eyes start to feel heavy. “Y/n hey, hey, stay awake ok?” Lo’ak pleads as he cradles you in his arms.

꧁꧂

“Watch her head! Watch her head” You hear someone frantically yell. You gather that you’re being pulled onto some form of land. Feeling strong hands grasp your shoulders examining your body, your eyes flutter open. “Babygirl? Hey sweetie keep your eyes open for me yeah?”

You feel heavy, your eyes are clouded with tears, everything hurts. As you blink in and out of consciousness you notice everyone is hovering around you in a circle, and a new figure emerges.

“Oh my sweet girl, Eywa please.” She begs “Momma i’m scared, I want- I want to go home.” You choke out, through the pain getting worse and worse by the second. “We’re going home baby, we’re going home.”

Your eyes unfocus from the world around you.

You can hear cries from over you but you no longer have the energy to inspect it.

꧁꧂

Your eyes open to Tsireya and Ronal kneeling over you. You groan at the light beaming painfully into your eyes. “She is awake, everyone she is awake!” Tsireya calls out and in an instant your family rushes in.

Your mother walks up to you falling to her knees at the sight of your hurting figure. “Thank you great mother, thank you.” Hot tears fall from her face onto your chest as she litters kisses on your forehead.

Looking to your other side you see your dad staring at you with puffy eyes and tear stained cheeks. “Dad it’s ok, i’m ok now.” You reassure. Your voice is hoarse and dry, from the lack of talking you’ve been doing.

“I’m just happy so you’re safe baby.” Your dad says sending you a close lipped smile. Using all the strength in your body you extend your arms out to your family, inviting them into all into a hug.

Your parents place their foreheads on yours, your brothers hold each of your hands, and your sisters rest their heads on each of your legs.

Melting into your family’s embrace, burning this moment into your memory.

Sully’s stick together.

new person, same old mistakes.
includes: death. this indicate internal thoughts. gn!reader. angst. part 2 to let it happen. not proofread.

meeting the metkayina was possibly the most interesting factor of your life.

the stares were cruel but hey , at least someone spared you a glance.

you didn’t want to leave home. you would’ve been fine if they just left you there with your grandmother. but hey, what dad sir says goes right?

tsireya was kind. ao’nung was alright. the ocean was beautiful.

you thought making new friends in a new home would fill that void of loneliness. you were wrong.

you couldn’t even enjoy a new place without your brothers causing trouble.

you glanced over to neteyam, smirking as he licked the blood off of his lip.

son of a bitch had it coming.

what are you thinking? neteyam did nothing wrong.

your fathers loud voice shook you from your thoughts.

“you were supposed to be watching them! why did you let them fight?!”

i didn’t. i wasn’t even there. this isn’t my fault.

“i’m sorry sir. i will apologize as soon as i can”

taking the fall for your brothers. again.

the apology never came. to hell with them.

so you threw yourself back into your shell.

you gained a lot of new skills. you grew your hair out. you got taller. all new things. you were a new person.

you then found yourself on a ship, covering for your siblings, as usual, when suddenly,

you were hit.

the bullet was meant for neteyam.

it should’ve been him.

then maybe i would’ve had a chance.

you sat slumped against a door.

the cold metal freezing against your hot skin.

your siblings were already on their ilu riding back to shore.

forgetting you.

they had just assumed you were behind them.

but not one person turned around to see and check.

blood was filling your mouth at a rapid pace.

you couldn’t help but feel relief. you’re finally out of the picture.

the family doesn’t have to worry about you anymore. your final mistake. the one you’ve been making your entire life; covering for your siblings.

you died with a smile on your face. finally free from the retched horrors of your life.

sad thing is

it was days before anyone noticed you were gone.

it was too late. your body was already one with the ocean.

although you were a new person, you still found yourself making the same old mistakes.

let it happen.
includes: gender neutral reader. older sibling reader. angst. listen to the song while reading this i promise it’s a great experience. ♡

as the oldest sibling it’s never easy. of course you would know. you are the oldest sibling. you were excited when your brothers came along, then kiri then tuk. after a while it just got repetitive.

why did you do this?. why weren’t you watching them?.

why why why why

constantly overshadowed and talking the fall for your siblings. constantly thrown to the side. essentially forgotten.

and all you had to answer for yourself was; “i’m sorry sir. it won’t happen again”. you lost your spark. your shine. what made you, you.

your parents told you they loved you. sure they did.

i bet you love them more though.

when neteyam did something, their eyes lightened in wonder. when kiri did something they gave her praise.

but you? it was a ghost town.

“oh good job”

“not as good as [redacted] but it’s good”

you stopped trying after a while. you stayed silent during dinner. getting up early to avoid them.

you didn’t blame your siblings. you still loved them. but god how you envied them.

you envied the praise. the love. the affection. the desire.

your world was moving fast and you couldn’t even process it, you were just a child.

it wasn’t your fault

you were forced to grow up. you couldn’t even remember the last time you addressed your father as such.

sir” felt like venom on your tongue.

you even remembered when you almost died trying to save your siblings once.

not even one fucking thank you.

you were the forgotten sully. you weren’t as important as everyone else.

tuks babysitter. neteyams big sibling. and so on.

you gotten used to it. your dad giving half glances to you. your mom giving you short words.

it’s like you weren’t there.

like you were a foreign object.

a freak of nature.

like you didn’t belong

everytime you would bring it up to someone they would tell you the same thing over and over till it was seemingly engraved into your mind;

you’re their big sibling, it’s your job, just let it happen
