Summary: You observe the mighty warrior, the famed Toruk Makto, struggling to adjust to his new life in the Metkayina clan. The gentle whisperings of Eywa push you past your comfort to reach out a helping hand, to ease Jake Sully in the only way you can.

You offer to teach him the way of water as the adopted daughter of the Olo'eyktan. An outcast befriending the outsider.

Water sloshes around the skin of your ankle and you stare at the ripples it causes in the pond. The feeling is calming, a respite from the barrage of emotions that have not left you alone since… the moment between you and Jake. You hug the other leg close, wrapping your arms around it and resting a chin on your knee. Nothing can be heard but the chittering sounds of the forest and the roaring of the waterfall. 

You needed to be alone. Away from your duties. From the confusing tension that lurks in the cavern of your chest. It’s like a predator, waiting to pounce on you, its prey, the minute you get close to Jake. His breathy voice saying your name repeats in your head, the haunting tone knocking at your skull like a weapon. 

I See You — Chapter 6: Drown

A/n: that gif i am salivating & frothing at the mouth YALL!!!! Prepare yourselves for... something. You might love or loathe me for the ending of this one, hehehe. All I can say is, get your water bottles ready. The chapter is short but mighty (like little Tuk)

“Over here we have our ilu pen,” you gesture to the body of water in the middle of multiple marui, “Many of the little one's help nurse the young ilu into adulthood. I’m sure there’s something similar in Ta’unui?” Your steps slow on the main pathway that leads to the pen. 

I See You — Chapter 4: Flight

A/n: hello my lovely friends! I am having a blast writing this series. Thank you for all of your comments and support. They keep me excited to post more and more <3 Things heat up a little bit (in my mind, at least) so prepare yourselves!! I actually had to split what I had in mind for this chapter into two because I got swept up in writing it. The aftermath of this chapter's adventure will be in the next one! I was so excited to post this, so I am sorry for grammatical errors.

The morning sun is hot on your neck. A slight sheen of sweat coats your skin as you finish applying fresh herbs to one of the Awa’atlu’s elders. Iouna cut herself while helping her mate repair their marui that had been damaged in a storm. The wound wasn’t bad. Merely a large scrape along her forearm but upon seeing it undressed and puffy in the sunlight, you pulled her into Ronal’s healing room. She griped about it the whole time. 

“There, now that wasn’t so hard, was it?” You stand from your squat to begin returning the herbs on the tray made of driftwood settled against the wall. 

“Quiet, ‘evi (child). I’ll not deal with your chastising.” Her grumpiness is something that never fails to make you smile. 

I See You — Chapter 3: Sea Glass

A/n: Hello my friends, I hope this chapter finds you well :) I had so much fun writing this because it's been brewing in my mind for a few days. Thank you for the love on the first 2 chapters! Today we get some of the Sully kids and Tsireya. <3 As well as Jake's POV for the first time. I added more Na'vi words to make the story feel more authentic, I hope it works!

Something changed after your moment with Jake in the cave. He became easier to train. Where there was once agitation, now there is ease. The progress is gradual, sometimes without grace as you observe the subtle conflict that brews beneath Jake’s steely veneer. 

But he’s trying. Grip loosening instead of choking. Sometimes it relents. Sometimes old reflexes take over. You remind him when he needs to surrender to the ocean. 

“You are quiet today,” Tsireya observes, picking up another piece of sea glass to weave into the necklace she’s making. “What is wrong?”

I See You — Chapter 2: Do You Trust Me?

A/n: This chapter was harder for me to write for some reason. It felt disjointed but now it is growing on me. In truth, I have never written or committed to a chaptered series before. I felt burdened by self-doubt which stifled my creativity. Please bear with me as I figure out how to execute, albeit clumsily, the ideas in my mind. I hope it is enjoyable to you, nonetheless!! Next chapter will introduce our dearly loved Sully kids and Tsireya <3 Also, your name is revealed! It is Emrey which means survive in Na'vi. Not beta read so if you see a mistake pls lmk!!!

“Please, Father! I cannot explain it but I–” a puff of air leaves your chest, “I know that I need to help Toruk Makto.” Desperation claws at your face. It seeps into your eyes and taints your voice until you are no longer calm. 

Tonowari looks down, stoking the fire in broad movements. The flames scatter light across the ink on his face, illuminating his composed expression. It did not help you determine the thoughts in his mind. The harder you look at him, the more closed off he seems.
