Chapter Warnings: Angst! Mentions of blood, needles, past torture, strokes, heart attacks, gruesome unaliving. Self deprecating Bucko I spent SO much time working out the logistics of this chapter and I really freaking hope I nailed it to some degree lol.
Bruce led you to the lab, not saying a word as you walked down the hallways of the boarding school.
Peter was at one of the tables, working on the same black metal object that you had only gotten brief glances of during previous visits.
Usually, he would cover it up as soon as he caught wind of your arrival. But this visit was unexpected, and Peter wasn’t paying attention, so he didn’t notice that you were here and had a direct view of his project.
You were still a bit far away from it, but the longer you stared, the more you were able to make out details. It wasn’t just black; you could see lines of gold weaving throughout the piece. But that was just a minor revelation compared to the moment you realized what exactly you were looking at.
