My heart. Your heart.

I'm Carrie. I like: books, castles, Juliet Marillier, and a whole lot of other stuff. I dislike: technology that doesn't work, people who think they know everything, and spiders. I blog about random stuff that comes across my dash or random thoughts I may have during the day. Hope you enjoy! Keep Smiling. :) Pottermore: Hufflepuff--MoonNimbus130

Anyone around here could recommend me something to read similar to the Sevenwaters Triology by Juliet Marillier (or anything with a female protagonist, a quest, fantasy, ancient times and sex)?

Grave Mercy by Robin LaFevers is one of the best/most similar I’ve found. It’s a series of 3 books and it’s fucking fabulous. You could also try Green Rider by Kristen Britain. I love the series, it’s a little bit slower but it’s got a great female protagonist. Finnikin of the Rock by Melina Marchetta is absolutely amazing(another set of 3 books). I really can’t recommend it enough.

You who live safe In your warm houses, You who find, returning in the evening, Hot food and friendly faces: Consider if this is a man Who works in the mud Who does not know peace Who fights for a scrap of bread Who dies because of a yes or a no. Consider if this is a woman, Without hair and without name With no more strength to remember, Her eyes empty and her womb cold Like a frog in winter. Meditate that this came about: I commend these words to you. Carve them in your hearts At home, in the street, Going to bed, rising; Repeat them to your children, Or may your house fall apart, May illness impede you, May your children turn their faces from you.

So, I'm reading this book called Finnikin of the Rock and holy mother. I. Can't. Even. It's so fucking good. I wish I could explain this in a way that accurately portrays how perfectly written this book is. I just can't.

It's just, the way she words things. I think I've cried through the whole book because I just feel so much of the pain. It's hurts in such a bad/real way. And her character just swallow me up whole, even the minor characters, because they have so much life.

I feel like I've just found another Patrick Ness.
